Chapter 4: Chase And Bite Back

"You are in the way," said Mike in a cold tone.

(Mike! You idiot!)

Ray was already bowing when he heard Mike speak to those gangsters.

He already expects a punch to a face when his friend talks them like that but the result is quite surprising.

"Heh... You are still cocky as ever."

"Looks whos saying?...you all are always coming back to me. Do you all fell in love with me?"

The guy with a scarf covering his neck got pissed on what Mike had said.

Not only Mike did not show any nervousness even tho he is in front of many thugs, but he also mocks them like they are trash.

The guy with a scarf was so pissed to this Mike's attitude.

He closed his hand forming a fist and punches Mike in the face.

"As if I would fell in love with you!"

*Thump!*

A sound of a fist hitting was heard showing the hit was landed clearly.

However, the guy who punches Mike was already at the ground not a bit of conscious can be seen to him.

"Huh?"

Ray didn't properly see what just happened but he knew that the guy was already at the ground.

He even has pride being an athlete yet he can't follow what just happened now.

The other thugs didn't show any hint of surprise as they knew this would happen.

Mike who was clearly been punched is showing no sign of any injury on his face.

He is waving his hands up and down forming a weird gesture.

(W-What just happened...) Ray was in the midst of confusion.

While he was still in confusion the thugs started to make a move.

The one looks like a leader shouted to his members.

"Go!"

"WARGH!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sound of a war cry can be heard throughout the street.

(Why the fuck we are in this kind of trouble!?)

"Mike stay at my b-back."

Ray was surely scared and confused at the same time yet he prioritizes his best friend.

Mike who is about to snap in anger was surprised by his friend's move.

Somehow he feels a light feather tickling his cold heart.

He smiled and talked to Ray as he in a good mood.

"Don't worry I've planned for this."

"Excuse me? Wait what are you doing!? WAHHHH---!!!"

Mike quickly grabbed his hand and start sprinting away from the thugs.

The thugs chased the two.

*vroom vroom*

He saw a truck and quickly runs to it while dragging Ray.

"W-Where are we going!?" Ray shouted in question.

Good thing Ray is an athlete that he can catch up with Mike's speed in running.

But it was somehow surprising for him to see Mike who is running fast as him even tho he is not an athlete.

This street was small and it's already dark so there should be no more vehicles driving through here.

Yet there is one truck that happened to just drive through here.

"Follow me."

Mike releases his hand from Ray and runs straight to the moving truck.

(His speed keeps getting faster! I can barely catch up!)

Mike hops in at the back of a truck and only Ray was still at the ground.

He stretches his hand waiting for Ray to grab it.

Successfully, they managed to get in the back of the truck.

*pant pant* *pant pant*

They were all breathing hard.

"Hahahha! We managed to escape from them!" said Ray in an exciting tone.

(This is my first time that this happened to my life.)

"Hey, Mik-!?" Just before he could finish his sentence he saw Mike spitting some blood.

His mouth is bleeding as it flows out from his mouth.

It must be from the punch earlier.

"Oy! Are you okay!?" Ray worriedly asked Mike if he is fine.

"This is fine for now. They are still catching up to us."

"What do you mean?"

As Ray asked in confusion a loud screech came from the truck.

"What happened!?"

"Tch. They are already here."

Mike immediately grab Ray's hand and quickly went off from the truck.

Looks like the thugs block the street for the truck to stop.

They run away from the truck and the thugs that came out of nowhere tried to catch them. 

They are many of them, but why do they need to be many just to bother themselves to catch only these two men?

(Why are they fucking doing this!? FUCK FUCK FUCK!) Ray wanted to shout as he ran fast as he can.

Two thugs immediately block their way while the other thugs are blocking the other paths.

The street they are in is still the same and small. There is no way to get away from the thugs who are covering all of the paths.

But Mike still grabs hope.

"Stop," said Mike with just one word two of them stop simultaneously.

Stopping at the utility pole near them.

"!?" (What now!?) Ray showed a face of panic as he thinks of a way to escape from this place.

While Ray was in full of thoughts, Mike is tapping something at the pole.

The thugs are running straight to them.

"Get him!"

"With this, we will settle our score!"

"This is our payback!"

These thugs thought these two are finally giving up running as they are shouting in victory.

But while they are running straight to them, the lights from the poles on this street suddenly turns off.

Not only that there is a loud sound that can be heard not far away from the street.

(What happened?)

(Crap, I can't see a thing.)

(Here he come again.)

"Brace yourselves!" said the leader of the group.

Ray who was still in panic saw another spectacle of a series of weirdness.

He can't see a thing but someone grabs his hand.

"Kyaaa!!!" girly scream by Ray.

"It's me. Stop that girly scream."

"Oh, it's you, Mike."

"Let's stay here and hide for now and watch the scene that will happen to this place."

Even Ray can't see a thing he somehow saw Mike grinning.

In just a couple of seconds, the sound from afar can be heard.

*bark! bark! bark! bark! bark!*

"Could this be sound of a..."

"Dogs!?"

*bark! bark! bark! bark!* The sound is getting louder and louder.

"Oy how many are they!?"

"Like hell, I would know from this dark!"

"Gah!!!"

"ARGHHH!"

"Just how many are they!? Argh!!"

The thugs were in chaos.

Without a source of light to be able to see properly from this darkness and a horde of dogs are stampeding to bite everyone they stumble upon.

Ray can hear the sounds of those gangsters screaming in despair.

He was speechless.

He was somehow amazed and scared at the same time.

Ray asked Mike what just happened.

"They are just common Azkal dogs but don't worry... They don't have rabies nor strong bite force to give them serious injuries. I personally trim their teeth, you know."

"But how an-"

"Uryyyaaaaah!!!!!!"

Just when Ray started talking a random thug appeared out of nowhere and about to punch Ray at his abdomen.

But he was quickly blocked by Mike.

"!?"

Mike grabbed the thug's shoulder and form a throwing style like Judo to throw the thug into the horde of dogs.

"Let's stop talking, for now, they might found us."

Ray didn't utter a word and just stay put in his place.

It's better to do nothing when you are dead weight for your best friend.

This was his first time seeing his best friend's other side.

He wanted to ask but it is not a great time for that.
