CHAPTER 1

Celine's POV           I pulled down my glasses with my middle finger so it rested on the bridge of my nose.  It was a habit I cultivated when I wanted to speak to an employee. It made me feel more professional. I felt like it gave me a more bossy look, a more serious look. "So you are?"  "Lucas Michael." "Lucas. I see." I nodded. I eyed him from head to toe. H

CHAPTER 2

Lucas POV   "Morning babe." Sydney laughed, rolling on top of me. "You seem excited this morning." I laughed tickling her. I rolled so I was on top of her this time. I held her hands down to the bed hiding it behind her back. She tried to get out of my grip giggling and moving, but my hold on her was form stopping her. "I'm very excited for you. You've got a job now." I exhaled letting go of her. "It's not like it's a dream job. I'll be working as a driver not a computer engineer like I actually studied for. Life is just so unfair you know after reading day and night to come out with the best

CHAPTER 3

Celine's POV I woke up with a terrible headache and as if it was not bad enough, coupled with it my limbs ached badly. My fear finally came to pass.   For the past one month I have been working too hard without rest and sleeping too little because I barely knew how to anymore. Without Adam by my side sleep was no longer a welcomed sight. Insomnia was telling on me now and it was doing so very well. My eye bags had been a little price to pay since they were well covered by my shades. But this sudden weakness, I sure didn't account for it.  My body was forcing me to rest and I did not like

CHAPTER 4

Lucas POV  I stood outside the room, at the door for about five minute's after the boss had pursued me out of her room. "Do you have any business here?" The housekeeper asked looking at me suspiciously.  She had a displeased look on her face as she watched me like I was a criminal. "Its like it runs in the household". I thought to myself "No. I'll be. I'll be leaving now." I stuttered. She nodded and stood there waiting for me to leave like I said. They were so different from Sydney, so lifeless.  Flash back My heart must be up fo

CHAPTER 5

Celine's POV There was a knock on the door again. I hissed. I was getting fed up with all the check ups from my workers one more knock from them and I was sure that I was going to lose my mind. "Come in." I groaned. Mary my housekeeper came in looking much more exhausted than she usually looks. "What is it again Mary?" I asked restraining myself from being disrespectful and doing so with a lot of strength. "He's here. The doctor." "Very good. Send him in."  She nodded and Walked away. The Doctor came immediately she left just as I was done adjusting myself. He was an old f

CHAPTER 6

Celine's POV Richards's hospital was beautiful even though small. Painted in white, the rooms were nice.  I was led to a small room when he brought me in. The room contained only a small bed, and a curtain above it. Just like the rest of the hospital it was painted white with equally white tiles.  It didn't take long for a nurse to approach me . "You are not scared of syringe, are you?" The lab assistant asked looking at me. She smiled warmly. She was so beautiful. Her dark skin glowed, which was a contrast to the immaculate white gown she wore. "No I'm not. I am used to it though and Pain once felt, becomes more endurable."

CHAPTER 7

Lucas POV "Good afternoon Ma." I greeted the housekeeper who was busy dusting the door that was already sparkling clean. It is either she had an obsessive disorder or she was running away from something possibly her boss. She nodded not sparing me a glance. She moved to the side to give me passage. I swallowed, my eyes taking in the home decor again. The house had a Kind of coldness, not the one from the AC but a strange kind of coldness a feeling you get in the morgue. "She's upstairs but I doubt she would be needing your services today." The housekeeper murmured  walking away.  The pace of my heart beat increased by a thousand. I ran my hand through my short hair feeling frustrated. "What's wrong with me?" I sighed. Stopping on the third s

CHAPTER 8

Lucas POV In the end the heart always wins. It is always easier to chose the biddings of the heart than to take hid to the warnings of the mind. Always easier. "I'll stay." I finally answered. My eyes traveled down her brown beautiful eyes to her dry lips which I suddenly felt the urge to claim.  I shook my head hard, clearing it from such forbidden thoughts. Celine eyed me as she took a sip of her coffee, watching me while she sipped it. It reminded me of the first day we met when she pulled down her glasses to the top of her nose. She had the same look she had then, one of question. "So that is what you have decided. I was actually beginning to think that you suddenly became deaf."

CHAPTER 9

Lucas POV  A tingle ran through my spine when her eyes flashed with appreciation, though fleeting it was there and it was enough. She rested her back on the toilet sitter breathing heavily, her eyes now closed.  She looked so pale and weak I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and protect her. I suddenly wished that I was the one sick instead of her. "Should I take you to the tub or do you want to continue sitting down here?" I asked.  It took all the courage I had in me not to sprawl on the floor and take her into my arms, in the end I did exactly that. I sat on the floor besides her and took her right arm in mine softly massaging them.

CHAPTER 10

Celine's POV  My body was getting weaker and weaker by the second and I did not know why. Even in my sleep I could feel exhaustion rake my bones. I opened my eyes slowly, taking in the ambience of my room. Just Like the rest of the house it was designed by one of the best designer in the country. The walls were painted white like the entire house, there was an inbuilt wardrobe, a small parlor and the vanity.  I looked over at the Sofa and at first my heart skipped when my eyes found it hard to offer recognition of the person that was so happily laying on it.   Then it all came back t
