CHAPTER 6

Celine's POV

Richards's hospital was beautiful even though small. Painted in white, the rooms were nice. 

I was led to a small room when he brought me in. The room contained only a small bed, and a curtain above it. Just like the rest of the hospital it was painted white with equally white tiles. 

It didn't take long for a nurse to approach me .

"You are not scared of syringe, are you?" The lab assistant asked looking at me. She smiled warmly. She was so beautiful. Her dark skin glowed, which was a contrast to the immaculate white gown she wore.

"No I'm not. I am used to it though and Pain once felt, becomes more endurable."

She took my hands and tied it searching for a vein. "Nice words. Writer?"

"And lawyer."

"That I like." She smiled again. This time I returned the smile although it was a small, but it was all my tired self could give at that moment.

The syringe penetrated my skin softly. I smiled at her not moving even a bit.

"Brave. You don't look it." She chuckled closing the syringe.

"It isn't written on the face is it?"

"You've proven that. I'm Justine by the way."

"Celine."

We both stayed talking in the waiting room, until the test result came out a few minutes later. I lost track of time as Justine was a good story teller. She really was fun to be around, I could use a friend like her. 

"I see you guys have met." Richard said with enthusiasm announcing his presence. He came with my test result and seeing the envelop in his hands made me gulp in air.

He stood at the door his hands in his pocket as he watched us both, he was looking really happy. He walked in and put his hands around Justine's shoulder then smiled. "Meet Justine. My fiancé."

I was taken aback by his introduction but I smiled still. I was indeed happy for him.  

"Ha. Lover boy falls in love. I can't believe I wasn't invited to your engagement party. So you didn't want me to find out that I won the bet huh. You are finally in love." I said with as much enthusiasm as I felt. 

"We didn't have any engagement party" Justine interjected while she kept trying to wriggle out of his embrace. "I don't fancy parties." She finally shrugged out of his embrace and took my test result from him.

"That makes the both of us." I grinned standing up from the bed. I patted Richard's shoulder and pecked Justine's cheeks.

"Let's have this conversation later alright. My head aches." 

"Here." Justine smiled handing me the envelope. "It's a card of paracetamol and your result. You can get water from the dispenser over there. Or wait let me get you water." I nodded finding her behaviour strange. She was definitely hiding something but I had no idea what it could be.

She took the few steps to the dispenser and back to me, walking slowly.

"Here." 

"Thank you." 

I cleared my throat smiling softly. I put the tablet on my tongue then swallowed it down with the water. 

"Apart from the headache where else do you feel Pain?" Richard asks.

"No where else for now."  

"Will you check the result here?" Justine asks me, confirming my suspicion that she was hiding something. Just then a nurse called the attention of Richard and he left.

I inspected the envelope, turning it back and front. I inhaled deeply and exhaled through my mouth. "No. I'll take it home." I stood up wrapping my arms around myself. "Please tell Richard I'll be waiting downstairs for him."

"Take care of yourself." She said hugging me tight. I hugged her back.

 I didn't know how much I needed a hug until she embraced me. It felt so good to be embraced.

"I will. Take care of you too. And make sure you hold Richard well, chain him if need be. He is never serious." I whispered in her ear. She threw her head back laughing.

"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind."
