“A truck? What’s going on?”

The butler hurriedly added, “A man drove a truck to the villa’s entrance, saying that it bears a gift for you.”

“Where is the man now?”

“I heard it over the security intercom at the entrance, but when I came out, he left the truck there and was gone.”

Machi shuddered in shock upon hearing this! What kind of person gave gifts in a truck? Did he literally just park the truck in front of the house and leave? Not to mention that he did all this at such a tense moment!

At this thought, he asked nervously, “Have you opened it to see what’s inside?”

The butler answered, “No, I haven’t opened it yet. I thought I would wait until you returned to decide.”

Machi blurted, “Call the police! Call the police now! Maybe there’s a bomb in that truck!”

The butler quickly replied, “Master, we have done the explosives and toxic substances inspections on the truck and found no abnormality.”

“No abnormality?” Machi was slightly relieved upon hearing this.

Generally speaking, if someone wanted to harm others, they would opt for bombs or poison, and since there was no abnormality after inspection, there should be no problem.

The inspection equipment used at the Takahashi residence to detect explosives and toxic substances was the same as that used at airports and customs with very high accuracy and sensitivity. No strange objects or substances could escape from such equipment.

When he thought of this, he said, “I’ll be back in a few minutes. Wait for me.”

After ending the call, Machi massaged his aching temples in exhaustion.

Tokyo had been so chaotic since yesterday that his entire body was a bit tensed and jittery.

Ten minutes later, Machi returned to his villa.

The biggest difference between Japan and Oskia in the modern days was that many houses were not built by developers but by homeowners themselves. Much like in Oskia a few decades ago, the citizens, no matter rich or poor, bought land and built their own houses. Therefore, the concept of neighborhoods, communities, and apartment complexes rarely existed in Japan.

The Takahashi residence, which was not far from the Japanese Imperial Palace, was in an excellent location and on a huge plot of land.

When he arrived at his house, he immediately saw a refrigerator truck parked on the side of the road.

The butler sprinted over to open the door for him and said respectfully, “Master, this is the truck I told you about earlier. The doors are locked, but the engine is running, and the freezer in the back is still functioning.”

Machi stroked his chin and smacked his lips. “Who the f*ck sent this? Did he want to bring me ice cream in the middle of winter?”

Eikichi, who was wearing a plaster cast on both hands, came out of the villa’s luxurious entrance with the help of the maids. He appeared to be very sleepy and asked in astonishment when he saw his father and the refrigerated truck that was still running, “Dad, what’s going on?”

Machi shook his head and answered, “No idea. I don’t know which son of a b*tch drove this truck over here and said it was a gift for me.”

Eikichi frowned and continued, “Is it a seafood delivery truck? I asked the maid to order an excellent bluefin tuna yesterday, and it would be delivered in the next two days.”

The butler hurriedly spoke, “Young Master, the delivery man said it was a gift for Master, not for you.”

Eikichi replied, “Maybe it was a mistake. Where’s the driver?”

“Gone…”

“That’s weird…”

Eikichi blurted, “Why did he leave the truck here if he was delivering something?”

Machi’s eyebrows were knitted out of anxiety. “This whole thing is so weird…”

The butler then said, “Master, we’ve inspected the truck with our equipment. There should be no danger. Should we open the freezer and take a look?”

Machi nodded after a moment of silence. “Open it and see what kind of tricks they are hiding inside!”
