Knowing that Yahiko wanted to have some private time with Charlie, Emi and Nanako rose up without hesitation and left the ward.

After the two had left, Yahiko looked at Charlie and said in a serious tone, “Mr. Wade, I would like to offer my sincere apologies for all the offences that I’ve committed against you. Thank you for your gracious kindness, for saving my daughter, as well as salvaging the Ito family. If it wasn’t for you, I’m afraid the Schulz family would’ve mistakenly thought that our family was the one who had killed their offspring, and that could have been the end of our family.”

Charlie smiled faintly and said, “You’re welcome, Yahiko. I saved Nanako purely out of platonic relationships. As for the helping hand lent regarding your family’s issue, you don’t have to mention it either. After all, I’ve taken your money. There is a saying in Oskia, ‘If one gives you money, you will avert the disaster for him.’. Since I have received the money from you, I must do my part, wouldn’t you agree?”

Yahiko was stunned.

He was taken aback because he had never expected Charlie to be that thick-skinned.

Charlie understood the Oskian saying very well. In other words, he had to return something in favour of the Ito family after taking his forty-five billion dollars.

Now that he had gotten rid of the disaster from the Ito family, he could receive the money without any guilty feelings.

Besides being shocked by his reaction, Yahiko felt the pain too.

Despite knowing that his daughter’s life was worth far more than forty-five billion dollars, he felt distressed with the thought that that sum of money was being given away just like that.

Nonetheless, he knew that he could not do much to recover that lost amount. Even if he found ways to retrieve that sum, he would more or less suffer some losses. As such, there was no need to be entangled with this issue any longer.

He smiled awkwardly, then said to Charlie, “Mr. Wade, your Apothecary Pharmaceutical is expanding at full tilt. It’s believed that there will be a very bright future ahead, especially after merging with Kobayashi Pharma. Why don't we form a partnership together?”

Charlie smiled and said, “Mr. Ito, there’s no need to form a partnership together. The Apothecary Pharmaceutical is my everything, I will not share with other people.”

Yahiko explained nervously, “Mr. Wade, I don’t intend to share the Apothecary Pharmaceutical with you. However, I truly hope to form some degree of cooperation with you. In the future, the Ito family’s business will be taken over by Nanako. Since both you and Nanako are friends and I can see that she has trust in you, you both can work jointly in many ways. This is a mutual benefit to both of us.”

Charlie smiled faintly, “I will consider this in the future. If the opportunity arises, I will not hesitate to work with Nanako.”

Yahiko felt relieved, and then he continued seriously, “Mr. Wade, I can see that Nanako is deeply in love with you. If there is a way you both can develop this mutual interest, I will be more than glad….”

Charlie cut in immediately, “Mind your words, Mr. Ito. Nanako is still a young girl. Should this news be spread out to the world, it will spoil her reputation.”

Yahiko waved his hand. “My daughter was with me for twenty-two years, and I know her very well. I can see that she truly has a crush on you from the bottom of her heart. Therefore, I would recommend you to stay in Japan. If the two of you were to become husband and wife, the combination of Apothecary Pharmaceutical and Ito family will make the two of you become the top presence in Asia, or even, the world.”

Charlie smiled before he refuted, “I suppose Mr. Ito has already investigated my background? If so, you should know that I am already married.”
