He really hoped Charlie could be involved in the shipping industry.

Yahiko smiled and said, “Nanako is a good girl. I dare say you couldn’t find any other girls in Japan who are as good as her. Whoever marries her, it’s likened to marrying a typical Yamato Nadeshiko, every man’s dream lady.”

Charlie smiled gently, then paused.

There was an Oskian saying which Yahiko understood very well—‘Rome was not built in a day’. As such, he said to Charlie, “Mr. Wade, my daughter and your good self has had a long ride here without sufficient rest in between. Allow my servant to send you both to take a good rest at my home.”

Charlie waved his hand, “No need, Mr. Ito. I need to rush back to Osaka to handle some stuff. Please excuse me.”

“No way.” Yahiko insisted, “Mr. Wade, you have driven over here through the night without sufficient rest and hardly had a meal too. It’s our tradition that we must be hospitable to our guests. Won’t we become a laughingstock if you leave us without letting us serve you?”

Without further ado, he pressed on the pager by the bedhead immediately and instructed, “Please ask Emi and Nanako to come in.”

In a moment, there was a knock outside the bedroom door. Then, Emi and Nanako entered the room.

Nanako asked softly, “Father, what’s your order?”

Yahiko looked at Emi and said, “Emi, Mr. Wade and Nanako have had a hard time rushing through the night. Please make the necessary arrangements to send them back to take a rest at home. Do remember to give the chef a call in advance to prepare sumptuous meals!”

Emi answered hurriedly, “Yes, Brother!”

Charlie said sincerely, “Mr. Ito, I thank you for your warm hospitality, but I’ll just drive back to Osaka.”

Yahiko said sternly, “Mr. Wade, even if you insist on going back to Osaka, you can at least stay a while in my home, take in some food, and sip a cup of tea before your departure!”

Nanako, who stood beside him, also added, “My father is right, Charlie-san. It’s only a stone’s throw away from here to my house. You might as well take in some food and take a short rest before you set off again. After all, it’s very dark now!”
