Chapter 0012

Suddenly, there was a strong fetal movement in my belly. I opened my eyes.

It\'s my child! It wants to live, I thought.

My mind was running fast, thinking about ways to save my child. A light bulb flashed in my head. I covered my belly and rolled down the operating table. I forced out a fart.

Marcus Mo noticed what I did and said, \"What\'s wrong?\"

\"I need to go to the bathroom.\"

\"You\'re not trying to run away, are you?\" Marcus Mo frowned.

Damn it! He got me!

I shook my head desperately and continued, \"I really need to go to the bathroom. Don\'t worry, you can send someone outside to guard me. There’s no way I can run away, even if I wanted to.\"

Marcus Mo finally agreed to let me go to the bathroom and sent a someone to guard the door just in case I attempt to escape.

After I went to the bathroom, I quickly closed the door.

Looking at the window higher just a bit than I was, I took a deep breath and pulled myself up using my arms. My belly was huge. I tried my best to keep it protected, but I strained myself climbing up. It was still better than losing my baby altogether.

When people are in danger, it seems they are capable of doing things that they normally can’t do.

I climbed out of the window and I carefully climbed down. As soon as I reached the ground, I ran.

I had no money or cell phone. I ran to a coffee shop, borrowed a mobile phone from one of the cusTom ers and dialed Tom\'s number.\"Help me!\"

\"Where are you?\" Tom immediately heard my voice and asked anxiously.

\"I’m at the cafe just outside south of the hospital! Hurry!\"

Soon, Marcus Mo will find that I am gone, and will definitely send someone to look around for me.

If I get caught, there is no way I’ll live!

Soon, Tom came.

Out of habit, I sat in the front seat. Wrong move. I saw Marcus Mo\'s people running out of the hospital and looking for me. I reclined my seat so they wouldn’t see me, as it was too late to move to the back. I asked Tom to drive fast, drive away from here. “I’ll explain later,” I said, crying from pain.

\"What\'s the matter, Summer?\"

Tom drove away. His face was full of worry and heartache. Marcus Mo hurt me thousands of times, and Tom never failed to come to my rescue when I needed him.

\"Tom, my arms are so sore. I had to climb up a window,\"

Worried about the baby in my belly, he was at a loss. “How is your belly, does it hurt there?”

I shook my head. \"I don’t understand why he tried to hurt me, Tom . How can a father try to kill his child? All for that woman.\"

Marcus Mo, I need to stop loving you. No more.

\"Oh, Summer.\"

Tom reached and touched my hair gently.

I cried.

I raised my head and said to him in my hoarse voice, \"I’m such a mess. Can you take me away from here, before it’s too late?\"

He asked, without hesitation, \"Where?\"

\"Wherever. To the edge of the world for all I care. Anywhere Marcus Mo can’t find me.\"

Tom smiled at me gently.

“I promise you. I’ll keep you safe from him.\"

I looked outside the window and suddenly I screamed.

\"Aaaaah!”

Tom didn\'t notice the red light. A car from the right hurtled towards us.

It\'s so close that it\'s just too late to brake. I was in the front seat, and I knew that if two cars collide, I will be caught in the middle.

I braced myself for impact.

Just before the car hit us, Tom turned the steering wheel and the car spun around. The van hit the driver’s seat.

My hand instinctively shot up to protect my belly.

The two cars collided, and my head hit the glass window beside me.

If I die, maybe it’ll be a relief. At least I’ll stop thinking about Marcus. My heart will stop hurting for him.

But if I die, my child will also die. There was a ringing sound in my ear, then I blacked out.
