Chapter One

Choking.... Gasping painfully for air, trying to fill my lungs with each agonizing breathe I try to take. My throat feels raw, dry and burning with each breath. My lungs feel like razors slicing through my chest. I could vaguely hear a high-pitched ringing in the distance. Realisation hitting me like a slap to the face. I recognise the noise to be the downstairs fire alarm ringing loudly.Rolling over in bed I sit upright in my bed, before rolling off the side and onto my hands and knees onto the soft carpet, choking and coughing on the thick smoke, the heat was rising becoming and it was becoming increasingly difficult to think and breath. I could hear my chest wheezing, fighting for much needed oxygen.Crawling to the bedroom door, my body growing weaker with every breath and move I make. My lungs filling with black thick smoke. I could taste it leaving a horrid dry taste worse with each brea

Chapter Two

Pulling my towel tighter around my body, as he turned toward my direction his head was down. He was very muscular his abs were like something you would see on the cover of a magazine. He has tanned olive skin short black hair that was shaded on the sides and a bit longer on top he was devilishly handsome. I could tell even without seeing his face. I stared frozen on the spot not, expecting someone to come in.The man turned and shut the door behind him before he started to walk towards the shower cubicles. Only then did, he look up and notice me standing there in just a towel. He looked directly at me his eyes scanning over my towel that hugged my figure tightly before looking at my bare legs. I blushed looking into his dark grey eyes. He also looked quite shocked clearly not expecting anyone to be in the shower rooms so early either. It didn't stop him from checking me out from head to toe though."Sorry I didn't s

Chapter three

I continued going over the notes until the morning sun started to brighten the room. Checking the time, it was now 8am. I quickly got ready and brushed my hair putting on a bit of eyeliner and mascara, before walking into to Becca’s room throwing my pillow at her from the door and announcing"I'm going! Get up and shower before you're late"Becca rolled over onto her back rubbing her eyes and yawning, squinting at me through the slits of her eyes."Already I feel like I only just closed my eyes" She mumbled"That's what you get for sneaking out last night to party and hang out with Mark. It's nearly break anyway; don't be late you can sleep for the two weeks we are off""I hate you, you're always the voice of reason" Becca growled at me playfully."Love you too, now get your arse up I'm going so; I won't be here

Chapter Four

My thoughts drifted off back to the dream I had, there was something familiar about it. I just couldn't quite remember the details of the room. I was sure there was something about the room, that felt familiar to me like I had been in it before, my mind just couldn't figure why I felt that way, maybe it was only familiar because I have been having the same reoccuring dream for the last few weeks, but I had a feeling there was way more to it than that.I was dissociating completely immersed in my thoughts, I hadn't even realised the car had stopped and we had arrived at our destination. The car was now parked out the front of Morgan's café. Becca was already out of the car and the bang of the door was what pulled me back into my surroundings.Morgan’s café was located on the east side of the city, in the artsy district. Morgan's café is an old colonial style house that had been gutted on the

Chapter Five

The 2 weeks passed by uneventfully, I was by myself alone in the dorm room. The few students that stayed kept to themselves and I was glad I had enough work to keep busy. Becca called after the first week away to tell me she wouldn't be coming back, like we had planned for the last week but would be back the day before classes started. When I awaken from the latest dream, I can't shake the feeling that it's more than just a dream, it feels real. I can still smell the smoke and taste it in the back of my throat.Opening the curtains and I see that it's still dark outside. I can see the first glimmers of light peeking over the horizon, dawn isn't far off. I can't go back to sleep and I can't stay in here alone with the dream still fresh in my mind.Putting on some black sweatpants, my beige Ugg boots and an oversized grey jumper, I decide against a bra and shirt, it's not like I'll run into an

Chapter Six

She started to walk back into her room when there was a knock on the door, I hadn't had any visitors over the break so, I thought it must have been this mysterious date Becca was meeting with. Becca gave me a questioning look "Not for me I didn't tell him which dorm block we lived in" Becca ran to the door opening it, I followed behind but didn't enter the hallway, instead I listened to who it might be, while I stayed just out of sight curious."Uh Hi. I'm Aamon. I'm the new RA this semester, I'm just going around introducing myself to the residents before classes start" he stated."I'm Becca, Avery come meet the new RA" she sang out to me. I knew istantly who he was just by the sound of his voice, even before he introduced himself to Becca. I reluctantly turned and stepped in to the hallway.Aamon was wearing jeans and a tight black shirt his ab's we the first thing I noticed, pressing agai

Once my lecture was finished, I packed everything in my handbag, as I was walking out my phone started to ring. Rummaging through my bag spilling half its contents on the concrete before finding my phone, it was mum quickly answering it."Hi mum sorry I didn't answer earlier I was running late for class""That's ok honey, I just really need to speak to you can you come for tea tomorrow night?""Ok, why can't you tell me over the phone? Chapter Eight

The next few days became a blur. I stayed at Becca's parents’ house not wanting to go back to my dorm. They helped me organise the funeral arrangements. On the day of the funeral we went to the Witches graveyard. I sat on my chair watching as they brought their coffins in, just staring it didn't feel real it felt like a show I was watching but had no connection to, I was numb, and I was glad for that. I didn't want to feel I just wanted to forget, listening to everyone get up and give their speeches. I didn't give one, I couldn't bring myself to stand on the small podium and confess my feelings and love for them, my parents know I love them. I don't need to tell strangers to prove that. It didn't feel real it just felt like I was trapped in a never-ending nightmare, I was yet to wake up from.Watching people some strangers talk about my parents like they were best

I knew Becca was worried, but I didn't care after two weeks of constant studying, classes and running she finally said something. I had just come back from my run when she was sitting on the sofa. When I walked in pouncing on me as soon as I came in to view of her."Ava please come talk to me I'm worried about you just sit and lets chat" She pleadedI tried to walk past her to my room, but she blocked my doorway."Ava listen to me, I think you should speak to someone I'm worried about you"I tried to push past her, but she gripped the door frame stopping me I wouldn't be able to get past without hurting her so instead I glared at her."Listen to me please I'm begging you, if you keep going your you're going to burn yourself out"My patience was running really thin, I didn't need someone who still had two parents telli

He pulled me towards an elevator and pushed me inside before hitting the button to the 20th floor, I backed away from him trying to create as much distance between us as possible ,He chuckled before pulling me back beside him. Pressing me against the elevator wall his hands on either side of my waist, his chest pushed against mine, his husky voice whispered in my ear "I can hear your heart racing" He ran his nose along my neck to my chin "I can smell your fear" lifting my chin with his finger until he could see my eyes, his eyes gleamed before saying "You don't need to fear me, so calm down"My heart rate slowed, and I instantly felt calm relaxed even, he chuckled before stepping back just as the elevator doors opened. Grabbing my hand, we stepped into what must have been the penthouse apartment it has a stunning view of the city through the floor to ceiling windows. Abs
