Chapter Two
Author: JessicahallPulling my towel tighter around my body, as he turned toward my direction his head was down. He was very muscular his abs were like something you would see on the cover of a magazine. He has tanned olive skin short black hair that was shaded on the sides and a bit longer on top he was devilishly handsome. I could tell even without seeing his face. I stared frozen on the spot not, expecting someone to come in.
The man turned and shut the door behind him before he started to walk towards the shower cubicles. Only then did, he look up and notice me standing there in just a towel. He looked directly at me his eyes scanning over my towel that hugged my figure tightly before looking at my bare legs. I blushed looking into his dark grey eyes. He also looked quite shocked clearly not expecting anyone to be in the shower rooms so early either. It didn't stop him from checking me out from head to toe though.
"Sorry I didn't see you; I hope I didn't startle you" he quickly said averting his eyes to look at the floor.
"No, I just wasn't expecting anyone else to be up so early" I replied
"I have an early start this morning at 830 wanted to get in before the masses" he explained
I put my hoodie over my head pulling it down and around the top half of my body as I was doing this, I could feel his eyes staring at me again.
"I also have 830 start times! What are you studying?" I asked while pulling my jeans on under the towel before removing it.
He smiled showing all his perfect pearly white teeth, humour apparent on his face, like he thought what I asked was funny.
"Oh, I'm not studying. I work here part time and stay on campus when I have to work"
I could feel my cheeks burning, the blood rushing to my face, from my embarrassment of assuming he was a student. He was still looking at me, I wanted to shrink under his gaze. There was something quite off about him. I wanted to move away from him, but I couldn't bring myself to take a step. My mind was screaming at me to run, that he was dangerous, but my body was telling me to move closer.
I didn't understand how he was having so much influence over me, embarrassed I wanted to run but I couldn't move my feet like they were glued to the floor. When his intense gaze moved away from my terrified one. I came back to my senses and quickly grabbed my things.
"It was Nice to meet you" I tell him.
Darting past him. He had a silly smirk on his face. I opened the door stepping into the corridor. Away from his sight, I felt more relaxed. I ran back to the dorm apartment, quickly unlocking the door and stepped into the familiar surroundings of the hallway. Dropping my keys on the hallway table before turning to shut the door. Only it wouldn't something caught it. A hand was pushing the door inward, my heart skipped a beat, my hand still pressing firmly on the door.
Was it the man from the showers? Did he follow me? The hand pushed again this time harder opening it. Taking a step back frightened. I desperately look for something to defend myself panic taking over.
It was Becca she walked in and almost walked straight into my frozen frame.
"You look like you seen a ghost" she laughed noticing my scared expression.
Seeing Becca, I let out a breath I hadn't realised I was holding. Letting out a sigh of relief. I don't know what came over me.
"Avery are you alright?" Becca asked worried when she noticed I still hadn't said anything.
"Yeah just wasn't expecting anyone to try and open the door as I closed it" I laughed nervously while shaking my head.
Becca walked past me and into the room across from mine, laying on the bed she placed her hands behind her head. I followed standing in Becca's door frame.
"Well my classes don't start till 10 can you wake me when you leave?" she asked knowing my classes always started earlier then her's.
"Sure" I replied before walking back to my room and stripping my clothes off to get dressed properly. I didn't have a chance to put my bra and panties or shirt on before I ran out of the amenities.
Throwing my clothes on the bed standing in my room naked, I quickly found my underwear and bra that were rolled up in the towel and put them on. It was only just past 630 am I still had plenty of time before my chemistry class at 830, deciding I would make myself a cup of coffee and look over my notes.
The kitchen in the dorm apartment was small but better than not having one , Becca and I understood we were some of the lucky ones at the university as most dorm rooms consisted of one room that was shared between 2 to 4 people ,but we got to share a dorm apartment which was larger and had a small sitting room and two bedrooms and a kitchenette and toilet.
When I decided to go to university my parents were excited and paid the extra tuition, so Becca and I could have the apartment dorm instead of being crammed in one room with multiple people.
My mother owned her own apothecary shop mostly selling small potions and incenses to the local Witch community, my mother is a Witch and so am I. Dad on the other hand is an orthodontist and has his own practise not far from Avalon University. I wouldn't have minded living at home seeing as the campus was only a Twenty-minute drive.
My parents insisted on me having the full university experience trying to give me my freedom before everything changes on my 21st birthday, when my elemental powers would fully manifest and I would be accepted into the family’s Coven, The Faewood Coven.
Becca and I have been best friends since we were 7 years old, Becca's family moved next door, when we were children and we have been inseparable ever since .Becca is human and no matter how different our families are, both Becca’s family and mine consider us to be sister's.
I took the hot coffee and sat on the mustard coloured sofa going over the notes sitting in front of me, most of them were just about what assignments were due by the end of the holidays. Today was the 2nd last day before the whole school went on a two-week break. We were eager for the break; I didn't get to see my parents much and had planned on spending some time with them although I wasn't going home to stay it would be just to visit.
Having been on my own for the last Two year's just Becca and myself, I had grown used to being independent and now valued my privacy and am grateful to my parents for advising being on my own would be good for me mentally.

Meredith said give her day, it's been a week. Becca has been locked away for a week now. Meredith came back the next day and told me she had plan to merge my magic with hers. What she forgot to tell me was, after I merged my magic with hers it left me powerless. That was her plan all along, she knew I would go after Becca. I have no choice, she is closest thing I will ever have to a sister, no she is my sister. I can't picture my life without her in it. They may not kill her, but I knew they were capable of things much worse than death. They can and will destroy her if they don't get what they want. For them it would be easy to kill her in ways, other than death. The mind can only take so much before it breaks, only take so much torture before the teether that holds our souls is torn and split leaving only a shell. I won’t allow my best friend to become an empty vessel. The third day Aamon and Meredith, put a

The following morning, I woke on the lounge. Getting up, I quickly checked my phone and seen five missed calls from Becca. Hitting recall, I rang her back, but the phone rang out and I got her voicemail. I left a message for her to call me back. I just assumed she was calling to bitch about last night. She might be in class now and I know she will call as soon as she gets a chance.Deciding to have a shower, I grab a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt and my white bra and panties, before jumping into the shower. Aamon must of went somewhere because he wasn't on the lounge when I got up and I haven't seen him. I thought it was a bit unusual, he didn't even leave a note. Probably got called into work. While washing myself, I hear a knock on the door.I knew it wouldn't be Aamon because he wouldn't knock on his own door. Maybe it's a delivery person, or maybe someone from the foyer. Quickly stepping out of the shower, I

Waking up, it was night-time. I was still half asleep on the lounge. I had a weird sensation of my mind being awake but not my body. I could hear Aamon and Meredith talking in hushed voices, I could tell they were arguing over something. Pretending I was still asleep, I listened."You have no idea what you're talking about""When she finds out it will destroy her, you really are nothing but a monster, how can you pretend, to care about her after what you did?""I'm not pretending anything, I love her. I didn't have a choice, you weren't there so don't judge me, you didn't hear what they planned for her""I may not have been there but that doesn't mean I don't know what you did, god help you when she finds out""Think what you want Meredith, I saved her, I brought her time. I owed them I had no choice""I should kill y

Two weeks later...I had been training with Meredith for the last week and a bit, she has been showing me different ways to use my powers and strengthen them. The Coven Witches have been randomly showing up to my university looking for me, trying to get me to join and merge my power with the Faewood Coven.Becca has been ringing me every time they showed up to let me know, so for now I have been staying at Aamon's place in the northside. Meredith was coming to his apartment today. We have only ever practised at my mother’s store, but she has been growing anxious with how much pressure Agatha has been putting onto the coven witches to find me. It's only a matter of time before they figure out, I have been hiding out in the north side.Meredith seems to think they won't dare to cross into this territory and decided it would be safer to practise here. After dropping Becca back off to her dorm. I grabbed a few things from my room before following behind Aamon, driving back to the north side of the city. Once we arrived the valet took both cars.Grabbing the few things, I retrieved from my dorm, I carried them up to his apartment before walking into the kitchen to put the kettle on and placing the herbs on the counter. Walking into Aamon's room and into his closet, stripping my clothes off before grabbing a pair of his track pants and one of his shirts which looked more like a dress then a shirt on me. Aamon stood in the doorway, which earned me a sly smile from him seeing me in his clothes, stepping past him where he had his shoulder resting on the door frame, I slapped his ass cheekily before going back to the kitchen.Making the tea I wasn't sure if I should put a teaspoon or tablespoon in, f

In the photo was my mother and my bio mother who was pregnant. They looked happy standing side by side their arms around each other. There was no deny the bond they shared, one photo and I could see and feel the love they shared. The photo was inside the potions book. They both looked young maybe a bit younger than me at the time the photo was taken, they could have easily passed as twins they were so similar. My father in the background, he looked like he was talking to someone, a dark-haired woman. Her back was to the camera. I Examined the photo carefully, could that woman be Meredith? While I was pondering, I heard the bell sound. Looking up towards the door, I made eye contact with Aamon, Aamon nodded his head towards the front of the store before walking out to see who had come in. I followed closely behind the photo still in my hand.
