Chapter 49

The melodious music echoed across the classroom. As the camera slowly panned, a lady in a deer mask stepped forward.

Because they couldn’t see the girl’s face, the only visible parts of the face, which were her delicate chin and the plump rosy lips, created an intriguing and alluring aura, piquing the viewers’ curiosity…

Guys were very simple-minded in terms of primary beauty standards. As long as the person was beautiful and stunning at first glance, she was beautiful by default from every angle!

Moreover, the girl in the video had a very fair complexion and an Amazonian figure. She was donning a white long dress, her skirt fluttering as if it was dancing in the air. Her coral-black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, even her back view radiated a fairy and goddess vibe!

These teenage boys stared at the screen with their eyes wide open and their mouth agape. After the video ended, they blinked to compose themselves and started exclaiming, “Wow, she is so beautiful! If only we’re able to see her face…that would be awesome!”

The rest of the boys nodded enthusiastically.

Seeing the boys showing similar expressions as he did, Julian smiled contentedly. “See? You believe me now, don’t you? I told you guys, my standards are very high, alright?”

All the boys exchanged knowing glances and nodded in unison, whilst the girls smirked in disdain.

“Who knows if she is beautiful or ugly behind that mask? If she is pretty, why did she want to hide her face? I bet she must be so ugly with a face that only a mother could love!”

“Yeah! That’s right!”

Malicious and spiteful comments instantly resonated across the room. Some of them even said things such as the model perhaps being an escort who would only cost a few hundred dollars for you to spend a night with.

These comments irritated Julian so much that he growled in annoyance. “Shut up! All of you! Who do you think you are to taunt her like that? Go back and look at yourself in the mirror before you say something stupid about other people!”

He wasn’t satisfied after the series of bombardment as he added, “Is it so hard for you to admit that she is beautiful?”

He was done with his slaying, but the girls who were chided vigorously were agitated. They stood up with their arms on their waist and shouted indignantly, “You are a shallow and horny dog! She hasn’t even shown her face yet and you’re already so into her! I wonder what would happen when she reveals herself? I bet you’ll be her doormat right away!”

“Huh, it’s my pleasure to do so, I’m happy. You girls are just jealous of her!”

“What? You’re a blind fool, that’s what you are!”

As the arguments persisted, the girls and Julian nearly fought!

The rest of the classmates were enjoying the catfight, but Joelle was taken aback by the revelation that she choked herself.

She had never expected Julian Davis to be the person who would desperately defend her!

It felt kind of weird and freaky.

Joelle even had an impish thought brewing in her mind. She wondered what would happen if Julian were to find out that she was actually the person he defended so intensely. Would he freak out? Would he have a heart attack?

She couldn’t help but giggle as she imagined the scene and ended up choking while drinking water. Her continuous cough unintentionally attracted the attention of those people who were almost fighting each other and the class quietened down.

However, what happened next was beyond Joelle’s expectation. Julian walked straight to her desk and asked arrogantly, “Joelle, you’re pretty, so I’ll have your say about this. Is the young lady in the video beautiful?”

Joelle stared at him dumbfounded. He wasn’t serious, was he?

Joelle found the scene amusing, but she held back her laughter, restored a serious face, and said, “Yes, she is pretty, very pretty.”

She was the person in the video, could she say that she was ugly? Of course not!

This was called self-confidence, not narcissism.

Joelle was considered the ‘it’ girl in school. Her beauty look was affirmative despite the fact that she was irked by her doormat attitude towards Walter.

It was also because of this particular reason that Julian had temporarily forgotten about the dispute he had with Joelle and wanted to hear what she said about the virtual apple of his eye.

Sure enough!

Her standards of beauty were higher and stronger than those girls’!

Julian grinned in satisfaction and said in a deep tone to emphasize his altruism, “Since we share the same view, I’ll leave you alone from now on!”

Joelle twitched her lips in bewilderment.

Did this dude seriously think that her acknowledgment was because she was compromising with him?

Well, it seemed that he hadn’t learned his lesson yet, she must think of something harsher…

The lesson ended for the day. When Joelle returned to the dorm, she received a call from Seth. According to his report, the commercial was a great success in its first phase and the next phase was to see if it would increase the sales of the clothing lines.

Joelle reminded him again about preventing anyone from discovering her identity in the commercial before ending the call.

Tomorrow was Saturday, which was also her brother’s hacker ranking competition. She packed her bag and left the school.

Ever since Georgia had been injured after the accident, Simon and Ruby were particularly concerned about her wellbeing in light of guilt and responsibility. They had even neglected Joelle a little because of this.

When Joelle walked to the school gate, she was told that her driver had picked up Georgia to the hospital first to check on the wound and that he would then return later to pick her up.

She shrugged indifferently, deciding to take a cab home instead.
