Chapter 21 Meeting Some Friends

After more than two hours of waiting, Ou Qingheng finally got back from his meeting. As he opened the door, he saw Yao Yiyi sleeping on the sofa in a fetal position. The picture frame on her body was threatening to fall at any moment too . Looking at her being all cute, Ou Qingheng's gaze subconsciously softened. He strode across the room and was about to put away the picture frame, but to his surprise, accidentally woke her up.

Upon opening her eyes and seeing that it was him, Yao Yiyi threw her arms around his neck and rubbed her cheeks against his like a lazy little kitten. Then, she asked in an unclear voice, "When did you get back?"

Seeming to enjoy her clingy side, Ou Qingheng replied with a smile, "I just got back. I didn't want to wake you up since I saw you sleeping like a little pig. I originally wanted to carry you inside to sleep, but since you're awake, you should get up yourself now."

Yao Yiyi smiled sweetly and buried her face in his neck as she said, "President Ou, since when did you start caring about others?"

For the first time, Ou Qingheng did not repeat himself and ask her to get up. Instead, he waited for her to finish flirting before saying, "Have a meal with me later, okay?"

Yao Yiyi raised her head and looked at him in surprise. "President Ou, I thought you never brought me along to any of your business lunches."

"Why does it have to be a business lunch? Can't I just have a meal together with you?"

Yao Yiyi patted her head lightly and replied with a smile, "Oh dear, why didn't I think of that? However, I have to ask, why are you in such a good mood today, President Ou? You called me over just to have a meal with me?"

"Aren't we husband and wife?"

Upon hearing the words 'husband and wife', Yao Yiyi felt as though her heart had suddenly been jolted with electricity, causing it to beat faster.

"President Ou, do you really think of me as your wife?" Yao Yiyi looked at him seriously as if she were hoping to find a trace of sincerity in his eyes.

"Aren't you my wife?"

A gush of warmth seemingly rose from Yao Yiyi’s heart and lifted her off her feet, but his next words immediately sent her plummeting straight back to Earth. "Although we're going to have a divorce soon."

Hiding the bitterness that was threatening to show on her face, Yao Yiyi smiled and said, "President Ou, besides asking me out for lunch, the reason why you called me here is not because you want me to sign the divorce papers at the law firm right now, right?"

"I just wanted you to have a meal with a few of my friends, that's all. As for the divorce proposal, a lawyer will contact you to discuss it next week."

Yao Yiyi breathed out a sigh of relief. She knew that the day of her divorce would come sooner or later, but she was not mentally prepared for today to be that dreaded day.

Tilting her chin upward, Ou Qingheng gazed at her sharply and said, "You want to divorce me that badly?"

'Isn't this the exact situation whereby a villain tries to fault his victim?'

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Yao Yiyi replied with a smile, "President Ou, you're the villain, and I'm the victim. Why are you saying that it's my fault?"

Ou Qingheng looked down at her and said, "Only I can divorce you, not the other way around."

Yao Yiyi was a bit annoyed at this as she replied with a mocking smile, "President Ou, as the saying goes, 'the magistrates can burn down houses while the commoners are forbidden from even lighting lamps .' You know that you're acting like one of those magistrates right?"

Putting his hand around her waist, he lifted her up and put her by the side. He then ordered her, "Get up, let's go and have lunch."

Surpressing her anger at his rude behavior, Yao Yiyi followed him out of the office with a smile on her lips. After getting out of the elevator and getting into the car, Yao Yiyi put on her seatbelt and asked, "President Ou, who else will be joining us for lunch later?"

"Just a few of my friends. They're very cheerful and approachable, so you don't need to act overly polite. Just be yourself."

A trace of surprise flashed across Yao Yiyi's eyes as she asked with a smile, "President Ou, I thought you’d never introduce me to your friends?"

"They want to meet you." In other words, it was because they wanted to see her, not that he wanted to introduce her to them.

Even so, Yao Yiyi was very happy.
