Chapter 11

My eyes fluttered open as the color of his dirty blonde hair caught my attention. His soft hair was swept to the side, the strands of his hair volumized simply by leaning on top of each other. The face structure of this man was beautiful, thin and masculine. His perfect tan skin complimented the color of his hair, as well as his soft pink lips. Accompanied by a left dimple each time he smiles showing his straight, white teeth. His eyes. His beautiful blue-green eyes that always changes colors depending on the light shining against them.                     He was wearing a light blue button up shirt, I had my head laying on his black slim-fit jeans. He had his thick framed glasses hooked into the left pocket of his shirt, along with a red pen cuffed onto his left ear. His hand softly laid above my head, touching my wavy brown hair as he twirls it around his index finger. His gaze was set straight ahead, peer

Chapter 12

How can you stand up for me, but you can't stand up for yourself?                    I pushed my hair back and carelessly pinned it half up half down as I wandered into the hallway. Taking a tissue, I rubbed it against my nose before tossing it into the nearby trashcan. I attempted to sniffle, but my nose felt clogged and irritated. I growled underneath my breath as all I could do was breathe through my mouth.                    I had a piercing headache, throbbing only on one side of my head, while the opposite ear felt swollen. I couldn't hear through one side, couldn't think through the other.                     From afar, I could see Bella in her blue floral print blouse and dark washed jeans. She had her orange-brown hair curled and nicely laid down. She waved to

Chapter 13

Another day, another class.                    Going to school on a Monday is something no one ever wants to participate in. But society differs.                     I still felt the soreness in my throat, and my voice still sounded like an old man's. On a good note, my symptoms has healed over the weekend. My father is a huge educate supporter. Education is key, you don't leave school unless you're literally dying. If you don't have the proper education, you won't get a proper life, and a stable foundation for your children.                    My father has always been like a mother to Austin and I. He always tries his best to educate Austin and I about real life situations. Things such as finding the right person to be with, standing up for yourself, and keeping your

Chapter 14

His hand slowly crept towards me as he softly lays his hands on mine.                    "Please," he begged.                    I pulled my hand away from his, and put them underneath the desk. Accepting his apology would mean opening up a door for a possible abusive friendship; not accepting his apology can cause him to cause harm to other people, knowing that no one else would bother giving him a second chance.                     Maybe I could change this guy. Maybe if I come into his life for just a second, I can lower any possibilities of him harming other people. I rubbed my sweat palms against my dark washed jeans before flipping the note card back around.                    Grabbing my pen,

Chapter 15

"I can't believe you're giving him a second chance," Bella says as she walks towards the edge of her bed.                           Bella always had a protective, motherly side to her. Her intentions are always for the best she sees for the people she cares most about. Sometimes I act as if she was the mother sent to me, in replacement of my birth mom.                           "And I can't believe you gave him my address," she continues, laughing at the childish response I had given Landon earlier today. I couldn't help but to join in and smile at her. Bella looked the best when she is happy. Her hair glistens against the sun, her skin was alright bright and clear, and her preppy outfits always seemed to be on point.                      &nb

Chapter 16

The car ride was uncomfortably quiet, even with the radio softly playing in the background. I sat there playing with my fingers, looking out of the window pretending to forget that there's another person in the car. The neon lights from the buildings blended in with the navy-blue sky. All kinds of different people were walking along the sidewalks of the city: people in business suits, people with shopping bags, cameras, there were even people painting a beautiful mural on walls.                           A smile appeared on my face as the view of the city suddenly turned into views of the ocean. The bright, full moon reflected off of the dark water, sending chill and relaxing vibes each time the waves moves against the sea.                           "Do you like the ocean?" Landon spoke up from the silen

Chapter 17

As we finished our plates, I stretched my arms out, arching my back as I feel my body tense and release. Landon released a chuckle as he reached out his hand towards me. I stared at it blankly, before softly placing mine on his.                           "Let's dance?" he asks, wrapping his fingers around my hand.                           In a panic, I pulled my hand back. I pressed my lips together as I hid my hands under the table. Landon rose an eyebrow in confusion, an embarrassed smile across his lips.                          I avoided his eye contact before answering slowly, "I don't know how to dance."

Chapter 18

"Come on, let's take you home to your boyfriend," Landon laughs a little at the end of his sentence.  We both got up as I raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Boyfriend?"                    "Yeah, you and the class president. I heard that there's something between you guys," he says, sticking his hands in his pockets while walking towards the elevator.                     "We're not dating," I scoffed a little, before avoiding his eye contact.                    "Well, do you like him?" he asks casually, pressing the button on the elevator as he spins his car keys in his index finger.                     I stayed quiet at his question, debating about my answer. After a sec

Chapter 19

"So you're Aubrey," a voice from behind me spoke out.                    I gasped as I turned towards the person in surprise. The horrify man had nice features, however seems a little older than my age. I swallowed nervously as I took a step back. He had a white button up shirt, with light grey dress pants. Although it was almost pitch dark outside, I saw his features clearly. A face with masculinity, sharp features with a neatly lined stubble.                    "The little replica of Landon's ex," the mysterious man growled, as he takes a few step towards me.                    "Where's Landon?" I managed to choke out, behind the fear.                     The guy smiles at me before a second figur

Chapter 20

Previously on the last chapter:                           Aubrey runs into a wealthy stranger with relations to Landon. He starts to harass Aubrey in front of Landon, resulting to a fist fight. Aubrey flees with Landon's car during the fight and ends up in front of Colton's steps. Colton and Aubrey shares a meaningful moment in front of his house with warm embraces.                          - - -                          We sat on his bed, leaning against his headboard. I lifelessly stared into blank space; dressed in Colton's baggy t-shirt and basketball shorts. Colton has his arm around my shoulder, cuddling me from the side.                         &
