All Chapters of Origins: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

A world once at war, hidden in the shadows from innocence eyes; A world filled with creatures fuelled on the hatred for its co-inhibitors; A world created solely on the images of those who sought to rule it.

My eyes feel heavy as they begin to open, gently awoken by the morning sun beaming through the forestry and the sound of the camp coming alive around me. The smell of the forest fills my lungs as I inhale, taking in each scent. A decent night sleep; no night terrors, the first in a long time. I feel the uneven dirt beneath me, warming from the suns glow. My hands reach around me as I grasp at the earth, feeling the recently dried soil crumble between my fingers.

We walk for hours tirelessly, silent as we survey our surroundings. As I walk beside Ash I observe the aged trees with creaky branches hanging over our heads like devil claws, the wreathed ivy as it climbs the towering trunks almost suffocating them in its grip, the bright berries ripening under the leafy dome. 

                    A growl erupts echoing throughout my mind…

A gash of radiant moonlight break’s through the cauldron-black sky smothered in thick, crawling clouds as the ground becomes baptised with blood. A great tremor overpowers my body forcing me to clasp my hands over my mouth, desperate to muffle my weeping while I look around in disbelief at the onslaught raging on, streaming tears cleansing my flushed cheeks.

As my eyes begin to flutter they feel weighed down refusing to remain open, only allowing brisk flashes of blidning light to momentarily seep in. My head feels silent and empty apart from my heavy breathing – unsteady as it fills my ears. I try to move but my body remains numb, unresponsive as if I no longer control it. Too exhausted to respond to my desperate commands. 

My head begins to ache as I come to, a gentle throb spreads across my forehead as my eyes open exposing me to the embracing daylight pouring through the large window. My vision is blurred as the white light floods my eyes, greeted once again by the rhythmic machine-like beeping as it enters my numb ears.

I look up at the gawping faces staring down at me with widened eyes, noticing Dakota flinch back at my sudden awakening before regaining her composure. I sit up quickly, propping myself up with my bony elbows as the familiar aches and pains begin to kick in with the sudden movement reassuring me I’m no longer dreaming. My eyes flicker to the second figure surrounding me, surprised to see a large tawny wolf sat at my side looking painfully troubled.

 Dakota jumps to her feet gracefully from the freshly made bed, skipping towards me in a flurry of bright colours as she eagerly grabs my hand leading me towards the elegant vanity table. She pulls the chair out and pats the velvet cushion, signalling for me to sit down so she can get to work. “Take a seat little wolf, let’s get you ready for the day. I’ll have you feeling brand new in no time,” she gleefully chimes as she flips a switch on the side turning on the display of lights surrounding my reflection. I grimace as the brightness illuminate’s my discoloured complexion from the multiple bruises decorating my pasty skin. I can’t help but stare at myself as the girl looking back is a shell of my former self. I sit down obediently not wanting to be rude but before I can shuffle the chair any closer to the table Dakota stops me by tutting jokingly before pushing me in with no sign of struggle
