A world once at war, hidden in the shadows from innocent eyes; a world filled with creatures fuelled on the hatred for its co-inhibitors; a world created solely on the images of those who sought to rule it.

Those on the Earth fought a battle older than time itself, a fight between light and darkness, created by the old Gods feud.

In the earliest of days, the Gods watched as Earth gave life to the mortals. They watched and saw the wonders of the progression of man, some in awe and admiration while others grew bitter seeing the mortal’s success. As time went on the mortals become more connected with the world they were gifted and the Gods wanted the same.

Luna, the Moon Goddess looked upon the mortals with adoration and love, taken back by their success. Inspired by what she witnessed, Luna created her own race, the werewolves, to walk alongside man. Designed in her image with the ability to shift when desired; allowing them to blend in with the mortals, live a life as meaningful as theirs while remaining true to who they were.

Her intentions purely to co-exist with the mortals whose land they now walked, her only commandment being to live in harmony with the humans who staked their claim on the Earth before their own arrival.

Her creations were as pure as herself reflected in their appearance, both human and wolf. Large beings with pure white fur and eyes the colour of sapphires. The Royals – the true descendants from the Moon Goddess herself.

As generations of Royals and wolves were born under the moonlight, Luna watched delightedly as her worshippers grew and progressed alongside mankind. The peace between them governed by the ruling Alpha King Theobald and his worshipped Luna Queen Emeline of the Blue Moon pack; their bloodline so pure they were as powerful as the original descendants before them.

Ambrogio the God of Shadows became disgruntled that Luna would interfere on Earth allowing her worshippers to reside with the humans he grew to hate. He watched with disgust and jealousy as it was apparent the humans were thriving before his eyes.

Infuriated he had not been given the chance to detest Luna's ambitious plans, Ambrogio set his plan in motion to undermine Luna and take the mortals she so dearly watched. Furious at Luna’s successful attempt of unity between man and wolf he set about creating an army to end the peaceful solitude on earth and strike fear into the hearts of the mortals.

He passed on his curse to his creations and allowed them to roam the blossoming world that was once so full of promise. His gift of immortality placed upon them as a shield of protection.  His orders to annihilate and destroy were given and his army of the shadows obeyed and caused havoc as they explored their new world.

Ambrogio was aware that Luna’s followers were stronger than his own despite his best efforts on their creation; giving them the advantage of their venomous bites that temporarily weakened the wolves if conflict ever arose between the species.

Hecate, the Goddess of sorcery was amused at Ambrogio’s conspiring; intrigued at his plotting her curiosity grew, leading to the creation of her daughters and sons to bare witness. Neutral but with the ability to choose the side they believed in most. Witches of light and darkness. Those of the light swore allegiance to the Royal’s and their wolves in the ongoing fight to protect the souls of the innocent. Those who turned to the darkness conspired alongside the creatures of the shadows.

As the solitude creatures of the night thrived on their pray their power grew as they hunted the defenceless mortals, feeding on their blood and handing over the souls they had claimed to Ambrogio. To be Ambrogio’s for all eternity.

Centuries passed as Luna watched becoming enraged by Ambrogio’s treatment towards the mortals, disgusted as she witnessed his despicable creatures tear the once flourishing world apart. Killing and feeding on anyone who was unfortunate to cross their path, taking what they pleased.

As the mortal's population began to decrease rapidly, Luna knew she had to act. Her wolves took the oath to act as silent guardians – destroying any creature with ill intent towards them. If an ambush on the mortals was made it was quickly disbanded by the wolves who were always waiting for their next move. Always a step ahead.

The nightwalkers numbers diminished greatly as their prey became protected, leaving those remaining to hide in the eternal shadows from the rest of the world starved, disfigured from years of hunger and neglect. Their once porcelain skin now transparent and weak, their eyes conditioned to the darkness of the world they were forced to live in, bodies contorted to look as un-natural as their intentions. Now a true representation of what lurked inside their twisted minds.

This mistreatment gradually manifested into a hatred so consuming they became engulfed with resent, now aiming their anger towards the wolves. Seething at the treatment which pushed them further into the shadows and almost into extinction, they planned their revenge.

Ambrogio ordered his creatures to unify, no longer would they hide on their own but congregate as covens to overthrow the now protective wolves. As their covens grew, they found themselves becoming stronger, faster and more determined. Empowered by their fellow nightwalkers around them they set out on their path of destruction. The beginning of the Great War.

The war remained out of sight from the mortals but eventually, some were no longer blinded by the innocence of the world and the events that unfolded before their eyes as they learnt of what walked beside them for so many years. They understood the importance of shielding their fellow innocent mortals from the world around them, keeping them naïve to the forces of evil that waited in the darkness, to avoid mass panic and an even bloodier outcome. An official alliance was made with the few humans that were trusted, forging a union that would last for the rest of time.

As blood continued to spill the world was no longer the beacon of light it formerly was – now dark and empty. The Royals fought endlessly to put a stop to the carnage and return the world to its former glory but found as the nightwalkers grew stronger, they would soon be outmatched.

The events of the war turned when a descendant of Hecate herself, Marsilla, had seen enough bloodshed and misery as the years passed on. The feeling of loss consumed her every waking moment. She had witnessed the community of humans around her eliminated one by one, the mortals she grew to love and cherish as she learned of their ways. The mortals who accepted her for what she was.

The stains of their blood had destroyed the soil beneath her which was once so full of life and light. The land was no longer her anchor of power, in its place all that was present was the darkness that had claimed so many lives and the emptiness the nightwalkers had left behind.

With her sworn allegiance the Royals had the power to end this war once and for good as the once cherished world continued to decay around them like a disease spreading through its host.

As light and darkness continued to clash Marsilla’s anger had reached its limit. Furious, she channelled all her remaining power into the Royals army which saw their abilities reach to new heights and set about seeking more from others like herself to strengthen their warriors. Marsilla had reached out to her sisters and brothers of light; fighting the darkness on their own; to unify with the Royals and their wolves for the final push and many answered the call.

No longer were the wolves backing down at bites and scratches; instead, they tore through the sea of the undead ripping apart any creature of the night who stood in their way, barely flinching at the creatures venomous bites.

As the final battle approached Ambrogio became agitated at the advantage Luna’s worshippers had received and sought out an old, elemental witch to assist his side – offering her a deal of a power that others would not possess. He offered a gift but with a cost. If the witch would assist him in the destruction of the Royals, granting her access to their blood, if consumed it would give her eternal youth along with her already possessed mortality. The old witch signed the barter and the wheels were once again set in motion. Ambrogio armed with his secret weapon was adamant he would now overthrow the Royals and their Army.

The King Alpha charged his army south far from the Blue Moon Packs castle to the Barren Lands the nightcrawlers now controlled; in attempt to keep his son and precious Luna safe from the monsters as she waited for the birth of their unborn child. She waited patiently for her beloved to return; praying to the Moon Goddess to protect him and his men, heavily guarded with the remaining pack.

The battle began at sunset. Both sides fought tirelessly with many lives claimed along the way. Now armed with Marsilla and her sibling's powers channelling through them the wolves became a sea of force; their strength heightened as they wiped out the remaining covens. A short-lived triumph arrived as the King’s fighters ripped and tore the throats of the final night crawlers left on the battlefield, a sense of relief spread through the warriors, a taste of victory at last after all those years. They quickly set about gathering the remains of their enemies and began setting them alight, ensuring they would not return.

As he sat to catch his breath, taking in their triumphs the King heard his inner wolf whine, a sense of delight spread through the King’s exhausted body.

She’s coming my love, our child will soon be with us

As his Luna’s words echoed through his mind he alerted his Beta Alexander, both now in a desperate rush back to their kingdom while the others stayed to destroy the remaining corpses.

After travelling for hours with no further news he became distressed. He could no longer hear his Luna. Their journey home now a mission to arrive as quickly as possible.

As they approached their land something felt wrong. The atmosphere felt unfamiliar… unnatural they thought.

The two wolves stood at the large, broken wooden doors of the Blue Moon castle; their bodies filled with dread sending chills down their spines. Their once-thriving territory now in flames and crumbling around them. Their hearts shattered as their eyes fell on the bodies of their fallen brothers and sisters.

Despite the king’s desperate attempts of calling his mate the only response he received was deafening silence. As he approached the throne room the distinct scent of his beloved grew stronger.

The door was no longer locked; broken laying on the cold stone floor next to the bodies of the Luna’s guards. His body trembled as he walked through the entrance into the destroyed room with their loyal subjects scattered around, torn and broken.

His heart sunk.

The King shifted back and fell to his knees at the sight of his cherished Queen defeated on the ground, lifeless before his eyes. Her body covered in bites and deep cuts surrounded in a pool of blood. The King let out a deafening howl with anguish and loss as he cradled her broken, limp body. She was gone.

His eyes looked down at his poor mate's stomach and noticed she was without child…. his mind focussing on his son and new-born daughter. Despite his frantic searching they were nowhere to be found nor Marsilla. The King feared the worst and a sense of numbness overpowered him.

As the King sat on the cold throne steps he waited for his loyal warriors to return from the battlefield, prepared to announce the devastating news of the ambush. His broken heart already fuelled on vengeance for the loves he lost.

Alexander in his wolf form checked each fallen member in the hope someone had survived, he whimpered softly as he checked for some sign of life.

As the King's mind wondered he was taken aback from a panic of howls echoing throughout the valley surrounding the castle.

                    Their under-attack Theobald - It’s an ambush

“What? How?!” but as the word escaped his lips the room fell deadly cold and the faint sound of Wind bounced off the stone walls around them.

“Well, because of me” faced with a youthful witch with eyes and hair as dark as the aura that surrounded her, stood at the entrance; her pale skin covered in symbols.

She walked towards them slowly, amused at their shocked expression.

“You may have won the battle this time but without your precious Blue Moon pack around… next time it won’t be the same” and with a swift flick of her hand they felt their bodies stop and a sudden pain spread within. The air was forced from their lungs and began to crush their chests. Fallen to the floor, they squirmed in agony, clasping at their necks in panic. Their eyes becoming as empty as her own.

She approached them laughing as she watched their demise.

“Sleep tight sweet King” she whispered, kneeling over Theobald. She slowly bent down and placed a kiss upon his forehead. Within a blink of an eye, his spirit was gone.

Those who survived the ambush returned to their destroyed homes, in shock they searched for their lost loves praying some had survived. The others rushed to the Kings aid but found they were too late, greeted in the throne room to what remained of their former rulers.

As they walked in taken aback to what they saw, Alexander let out a cry for help. His body growing colder by the second surrounded by his blood, barely taking in air. With his last moments on this earth, he told the others of what happened and how he was left to warn them of the threat the witch had made.

As the news spread of the Royals defeat the werewolves remaining were left lost across the land, without guidance and scared of the witch’s words hanging over their heads. Their purpose now gone.

Many of the packs were destroyed in the great war leaving them with nowhere to turn. They set their task to find the missing Princess and Prince of the Blue Moon pack, but their attempts met no success. Many stopped after a few years, convinced the witch that had attacked the castle had killed the children too.

The surviving wolves became restless waiting for a new leader and with no Royal’s remaining to claim the throne it became a battle - a battle between their own kind for who would now rule over the wolves.

The years which followed saw many new clans form from the ashes of their old lives as they grew hungry, craving the power the Blue Moon Pack once possessed, adamant they were to be the successors of a once-thriving population.

As more contesters arose and pack numbers grew an ongoing fight for power began, it was now every pack for themselves. With so many fighting for the Kings cold throne, they realised it would never be the same, instead the wolves agreed to divide the land between themselves but as time went on this was not enough.

They began to fight for territory outside of their land, searching for the power they desired. With each piece of territory they controlled their pack grew to match. Each looking to strengthen their own. With territory came land, controlling land was shortly followed by wealth. Wealth lead to power and so began the first of the Moon Cities.

By the time we reach the apartment my head feels forcibly weighed down as if it is being buried alive under the eruption of unravelling thoughts. All of my senses remain partially heightened; my body trembles violently while the adrenaline slowly begins to wither, subsiding deep within my veins as I try to collect myself. Desperate kicks and punches are thrown at the amused boys as they easily escape her clumsy attempts of causing harm, laughing mockingly at the feeble attack, blocking her from getting too close to either Elijah or myself. “-I didn’t bring you along with me for you to go and make a fool out of me!” Vincent sneers at his daughter, authority riddled in his tone causing her to stop dead in her tracks. The building intrigue holds me frozen to my spot like a statue, rooted to the ground while remaining out of sight as I listen to the unravelling conversation which wasn’t intended for my ears.“Have any of the members from the Opal Pack tried reaching out to you, yet?” Dakota asks, her voice tainted with worry. “Honestly, I don’t know. My phone has been switched off all night. I didn’t want anyone bothering me when I was at the hospital with Willow…” I hear Elijah trail off distracted. After a few seconds of painful silence, a playful melody kicks in from downstairs followed by an avalanche of frantic beeping and buzzing. Surely, this is some type of mistake. Ash the reaper? Pfft, Ash has always been a gentle giant!
