Chapter4: New feelings vs Old feelings

(Drake's POV) 

I was on my way to my mate's house when I bumped into my beta, Mason.

“Alpha? What are you doing out here?”

Suspicion was clearly written on his face causing me to nervously scratch behind my neck.

“Oh, uh, I'm going for a ran, ” I managed to say in the highest freaking tone.

“You're such a terrible liar, Drake, " RJ laughter echoed in my head annoying the living daylight out of me.

“A run? Are you sure about that Alpha, you know, you can trust me, right?”

Mason raised looking a bit offended earning a sigh from me.

“I know Mason, I'm sorry, I'm going to see my mate, RJ misses her, ” I confessed earning a growl from RJ.

“Don't you dare put this on me, Drake, you know, you're whipped ass misses her too, ” He argued making me rolled my eyes at him.

“Oh, well, in that case, don't worry Alpha, I'll cover for you at the pack, ” 

I sighed in relief as I heard Mason's choice of words sending him a smile of gratitude. 

“Thank you, Mason, I owe you, ”

“No problem, it's my duty as your beta, I'll be on my way now, have fun, ” 

“Alright, Mason, I'll see you back at the pack, ” 

Soon it was just me and my wolf and for a minute I totally forgot where I was going.

“What are you waiting for dumbass, let's go see my queen, ” he growled earning a growl back.

“Our queen, you brat, get it right, ” he scolded at my words as he pushed us further into the forest.

As we got closer to her home, her scent got stronger driving both me and my wolf crazy.

The path to her house was right there causing me to become nervous all of a sudden. 

“Hey, why did you stop?” he impatiently asked. 

“I'm nervous RJ, what if she doesn't like me, or find my sudden presence creepy, ” 

“Are you serious, Drake, you're an Alpha, grow some balls, ” he said a bit irritated. 

“RJ, you're really getting on my last nerves and you don't know what's-

“Ugh! Move you stupid couch, ” A sweet frustrated voice interrupted me as I felt RJ jump in excitement. 

“Come on, Drake, she needs us, let's go, ” he whined as a sigh left my mouth.

“Fine, let's go, ” 

I slowly walked down the path as my heart accelerated. 

The dizziness came back as her scent got stronger and that's when everything stopped. 

The visual of her laying tiredly on the couch with her arm shielding her face was absolutely breathtaking.

My wolf went crazy just by her presence and my hormones went crazy just by watching her lay there all sweaty and tired. 

“Do something, Drake, get her attention, ” 

I cleared my throat, stepping closer towards her before speaking.

“Hello, beautiful, it looks like you could use a hand, ”

(Layla POV)

The moment I heard that soothing deep voice I immediately sat up to stare back at a pair of mesmerizing golden-brown eyes. 

I felt my heart sped up and the world around me seemed to stop.

Who was he and where did he fall from, heaven?

Those were the thoughts running through my mind which were interrupted by a deep chuckle.

My thighs instantly shut tight and my palms began to sweat.

 What is happening to me?

The smile that was already on his face widen as if he knew the effect he had on me. 

He cleared his throat as he shoved his hands in his pocket, looking down momentarily while licking his juicy full lips. 

“I'm Drake, ” 

The way he pronounced his name drove me absolutely crazy for some unknown reason. 

“Oh, I-I, uh, ” 

For a moment I honestly forgot my name earning a breathy chuckle from the breathtaking man a few feet away from me. 

“I'm sorry, you are?”

“L-Layla, ” I managed to say very breathily and soft.

For a moment I seriously thought his eyes had darkened but I guess it was a figure of my imagination. 

“It's nice to meet you, Layla, ” he flashes a beautiful yet sexy smile causing my heart to skip my beats. 

“It's nice to meet you too, Drake, so how may I help?” 

“Actually, I was just walking through the forest getting some fresh air when I heard things being moved around, my curiosity kind of got the best of me so I decided to check it out, that's when I saw your beautiful self laying on the sofa, ” 

To be honest, I wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying until beautiful slipped from his mouth causing me to blush so hard I had to look away. 

“Oh, well, I'm sorry, for disturbing your peaceful stroll, ” he flashes another life-threatening smile walking closer towards me as I began to get more nervous. 

“Well, I'm not complaining, it's a good thing I came because if I didn't I  wouldn't have seen such a beauty like yourself, ” he said now standing in front of me with his hands out gesturing me to take it.

The moment my hand touched his, I flinched as I felt a spark run through my arm. 

I kind of freaked out a bit but decided to just brush it off.

Now we were standing face to face. The aura I felt from this man was very different and captivating.

He has this very dark and sensual way about him that drove me crazy.

“Do you need some help with this?" He gestured to the couch and other heavy items I couldn't carry myself. 

“That would be great Drake, thank you, " I suddenly felt the grip of his hands tighten around my mines, and as I stared into his which suddenly darkened causing me to gulp. 

“No, problem, Layla, I could never let a beautiful woman like yourself lift these heavy things, " he said yet again distracting me with his affection words.

(Author's POV)

Layla stood back in amusement as she watched Drake effortlessly carry everything back inside the house. 

Even the things that required two people to lift, he lifted it with ease.

“How on earth did he-

“Layla! Are you coming inside?” Upon hearing his distance voice, Layla quickly jogged inside to find him standing there while dusting the dush from his hand.

“Is that everything?” he asked with another gorgeous smile while taking a glimpse of the living room.

“Yup, that's everything, thank you, can I treat you with some juice or, ” 

“Uh, water will be fine, ” 

“Alright then, follow me, ” she said as they both headed to the kitchen. 

On their way, Drake's eyes could help but wonder where they're not suppose to.

“I can't take it anymore, Drake, you gotta take her now, ” RJ frustratedly complain.

“Are crazy?” Drake yelled-whispered.

“Did you say something, Drake?” she asked.

“Um, yeah, your house is very beautiful, ” he quickly tried to cover up.

“Thank you, but this isn't my house, ” she said as they entered the kitchen.

“Yes, I know this isn't your house, ” his words made Layla eyed him suspiciously.

“And how do you know that exactly?” she asked passing him a bottle of water. 

“Well, there was once a married couple that used to live here but one day they just abandoned their home, ” he explained sending Layla back down memory lane. 

“Those people we're my grandparents, ” she whispered as her eyes flooded with tears.

“I'm sorry, ” he whispered as well as he felt his wolf whimpered in sadness. 

“I think you should leave, I have a lot of work to complete, ” she quickly said blinking away her tears.

“Layla-

"Thank you for your help, Drake, it was also nice meeting you, ” 

Drake knew he couldn't convince her to let him comfort her so he slowly exited her home fighting to calm his wolf who was currently in panic and protective mode.

“It was nice meeting you as well, Layla, I hope to see you soon, ” he said before leaving Layla alone to suffer in the dark.
