Chapter 4: Her Life

Mamo smiled happily when Talia was done injecting her, her medication. She can relax now without thinking and feeling pain. It's all what she wanted. 

"Thank you, Talia." she said while looking at her hand where she was injected and flexing it at the same time. She tilt her heap up and look at Talia. "Pain is gone." she announce.

"Good. I'll leave you now." Talia pat Mamo's head before slowly walking backwards with a grin on her lips. She raise her hand and give a little wave. "Good bye, Mamo. Rest well, okay?" She immediatly close the door behind her and laugh to herself. 

Her job is so easy. Poor little kid, doesn't even know what she was taking. She'll be rich after this. Oh, how great!

Mamo shakes her head and blinks her eyes hard as she started to get dizzy. No headache, just being dizzy like she had been turning around and her surrounding started to move. She stands up and walk towards her bed, maybe she'll just sleep it off. 

She sighed and drop her body to the bed. She snuggled down with her pillow and comforter. Mamo falls asleep fast as if she was so tired from doing something. 

It's been an hour since Talia left Mamo's room. It's time to go back and check on the girl. It's not that she'll fail on this one as well, she's pretty confident that the monster will die. She did her best to make a special poison, a lethal injection just for that girl. 

She prepare her things and walk with no care towards Mamo's room. She's very excited for the pleasure she'll feel when she see Mamo not breathing. It's making her head spin in excitement. 

"Mamo... Mamo?" She whispered softly and carefully as if the monster is still alive and will answer her. She laught at the thought. Now that'll be so funny if the girl just wake up. 

She hurriedly walk beside Mamo, studied her while wearing her disposable gloves. She fix the little girls hair first before moving to check her pulse. 

Talia laugh hard when she felt no pulse and the monster is not breathing anymore. She's dead!

Talia put on her worried face on and she hurriedly run to look for Mandy. She wanted her to know about the incident. 

"Mandy! Mandy!" She called. Mandy came in from the garden rushing towards her. She look worried and confused at the same time. "Come quickly. Help me. Mamo..." 

"What? What happen?" The old maid ask as they started to run towards Mamo's room and harshly open the door. Mandy gasp and rush towards Mamo. 

"Mamo is not breathing anymore! I came here to check on her after an hour and I found her like this. I already tried everything to resuscitate her but... She...she won't." Talia said hysterically and a tear slide down her face. Mandy shakes her head before softly tapping the little child. 

"She can't be dead. She's healing already! Mamo? She might be sleeping peacefully." Mandy keeps tapping the little child and shaking her to woke her up. 

Mandy bend down and started talking to Mamo. She can't just believe that the little angel is already gone. She was sure the girl will be healed and healthy someday but not like this. They don't expect this. No one expects this. No one wants this. 

"Mamo? Wake up my dear. I'll bake you your favourite cookie." She whispered. Her tears are starting to fall slowly. "No, Mamo. Please. Wake up." 

Talia was already smiling deep down her. She really wanted to laugh hard but she can't blow up her cover. This is a perfect accident the couple wanted. 

"What is Mandy?" A small voice makes them snap their head towards the little child laying down the bed. Mandy's eyes lit up, she is so happy that Mamo is okay. 

On the other hand, Talia was shocked. Her eyes was confuse, shock, anger and fear mixed together. She made sure the girl is dead! Her posion was perfection! How on Earth did this monster survive?

"Thank goodness! How was your sleep Mamo?" Mandy was quick to wipe her tears and smile to the young girl.

"Slept well. Like last night. Why cry Mandy, Talia?" Even though the two was smiling, Mamo can tell they were crying. She saw tears on their eyes. 

"Oh, it was nothing Mamo. We were just... Just telling each others sad memories." Mandy responded. She can't tell the young girl that they thought she was dead.

"Yes. I'm so touch about the story that Mandy shared that's why. She tell me stories about you. You poor child. You must be in so much pain. Fate is so cruel to you. You're so young to experience the cruelty of this world." Talia added. She have to go along though this is not part of her plan. She have to let this people believe abd trust her or they'll notice her scheme. 

"Well, we are sorry to disturb your sleep, my dear. I'm very happy that you're fine. We'll go somewhere else. Talia if there's nothing else to check with Mamo we'll go ahead." Mandy stand up and walk towards the door and Talia followed her.

"It's okay, Mandy. You can stay." Mamo said in a slurred manner and sh smile softly. 

"We can't bother you anymore, my dear. You have to rest well so that you will heal."  Mamo nod, agreeing to what Mandy said. She have to heal fast so she can go outside and play. 

Once they were far from the room and Mandy made sure they are alone, she turn around to face Talia.

"What was that all about Talia? You scared the hell out of me." Mandy whispered, her hand was placed on top of her chest where her heart is. She breathe heavily with her eyes closed as if she was claming herself.

"I'm sorry! I really thought she was not breathing. I can not feel her pulse earlier and I was shaking her hard to wake her up but she won't." Talia reason out. Even her was confused. She could not believe the fact that the little monster survive two of her well made poison. She was so confident it will kill her. Something was definitely wrong with that girl!

"I didn't know she was that hard to wake up." Talia added shrugging her shoulder. Maybe she should try a different approach to kill the monster. She have to think of another way to kill that girl, fast. 

"She really was sleeping peacefully." Mandy was shaking her head with a smile. She's happy for the child. "The medicine you gave must be really working. I'd say your a miracle to the child's life. Thank you for taking care of Mamo, Talia." Mandy said sincerly with a smile on her face. Talia smiled at the old woman.

"It's my job, Mandy. To take care of Mamo. I have to do my best. No need to thank me." She humbly said. She tap the womans shoulder and smile. "All right, Mandy. I'll go take a rest." she yawns and turn her back. 

Talia was rolling her eyes as soon as she turn her back to the old lady. Huh! Miracle what? Oh yes I am. But why the hell is that monster still alive? How can she survive? 

Is it some kind of sorcery? What sorcery? This is not a fairytale where magic is real. That's just so childish of her to think like that. She's being crazy. She should make her mind think straight. Not because the little monster survive her poisons she'd act like this. 

Talia sit down on the edge of her bed. What else should she do? She can't just stab the kid that'd be too obvious. She hae to plan this carefully. She should not use anymore poison, it won't work. She'll just inject her with a saline if Mamo will ask for her medication.
