Chapter 11

The next day, Yakov fulfilled his promise to his wife and went to work. Yulia had already informed the secretary about him. Yakov settled his paperwork and was brought to the office. His basic monthly salary was two thousand Yuan, plus any commissions from sales. The amount was considered low for a job in Yin Prefecture, though Yakov did not mind that. He would not have bothered picking up a white-collar job if not that he was considerate about his wife's feelings. Yakov joined the company as a salesman. He spent the entire morning reading through a stack of documents and no one bothered him. At noon, everyone went to the company cafeteria for lunch. Yakov met Yulia in the cafeteria. Yulia often ate there even though she was the president of the company. She had a private room for herself. He wanted to go over and say hi to her, but Yulia seemed to be deliberately evading him. She gave Yakov a warning glance, then turned around and left. She looked as though she was afr

Chapter 12

'So, he's President Yates's useless husband?' Sean was in the office in the morning, so he was not informed yet. Sean had always tried to get on Yulia's good side. He was from a wealthy family and did not need the money. He worked as a manager in Yulia's company just so that he could be closer to her. 'Now that you're in my department, I'll make sure that you suffer.' Sean had the urge to punch Yakov when he was reminded that his goddess lived under the same roof as that useless bum. However, he was the society's elite and needed to behave like a gentleman. He glanced nonchalantly at Yakov. "You must be Yakov Xayarath, our new salesman? I'm the manager of the sales department. Don't worry, I'll take good care of you. Right, how about we sit down and talk about cars. What car do you drive?" Sean knew that Yakov was married to the Yates family and did not have any money under his name, which was why he wanted to publicly humiliate him. He did not expect that Yakov only

Chapter 13

"Hey, find me a female celebrity within half an hour. Yes, I'll send you the address soon." After the call ended, Yakov sent over the company's address. Yulia's secretary soon found out about it and informed Yulia. Very soon, Yakov was 'invited' into Yulia's office. "What's wrong with you, Yakov? Can't you behave on your first day at work? Why must you cause trouble for me?" Yulia spoke in a cold, commanding voice. "I'm helping you," Yakov said, "I heard that the company is looking for a spokesperson, and so I'm looking for one. Is there a problem?" "You…?" Yulia leaned back on the couch in her office. Her face was full of resentment and anger. Yakov had disappointed her again. She had never felt so disappointed before. 'Can't he see that they're trying to humiliate him? Why is he so stupid to fall into their trap?' "I sometimes wonder what is going on in your brain, Yakov," Yulia said resentfully. "What do you mean, what's going on in my brain?" "Haven't you em

In the office. "It is my honor to be the spokesperson for your company, Sir." Helen agreed without hesitation to Yakov's offer. She did not behave like a celebrity when she stood in front of Yakov. She was as meek and obedient as an elementary schoolgirl. "Your fee?" "You must be joking, Sir. I wouldn't dare to ask for any money from you. I only ask for one simple favor," Helen said. "What is it?" "I'd like to treat you to dinner. I wonder if I may have the honor…" Working for the company for free was worth it if she could be acquainted with Yakov Xayarath. If Yakov were any other man, he would be the one trying his best to invite the beautiful and famous Helen Zeilinger for dinner. "Are you trying to negotiate with me?" Yakov's expression sank. Helen shuddered when Yakov glared at her. His penetrating gaze seemed to strip away her clothes, leaving her bare-naked in front of him. Cold sweat streamed down from her forehead. "No, I wouldn't dare to. Please forgive m

Chapter 15

To avoid attracting unwanted attention, Yakov went to the back of the house. However, once he jumped down from the wall, he was shocked. 'Yulia?' From the outside, he saw Yulia in the house, sitting in the living room watching television. However, she seemed to be troubled by something. Yulia did not go home but instead went to her cousin's house. For the past few days, she had been troubled by her family's insistence on going ahead with the divorce. However, she was reluctant to do so whenever she was reminded of Yakov's innocent, smiling face. That was why she was at Xylia's house. She wanted to chat with Xylia, but her cousin was not at home. Yakov could not go in through the front door. He did not want Yulia to see him carrying Xylia. He would not know how to explain himself. Yakov jumped in through her bedroom window. The room was decorated in pink, and there were many plush toys and dolls on the bed. Evidently, it belonged to a young girl. Yakov gently placed

Chapter 16

Although it was around eleven at night when Yulia returned home, she saw the lights were still on and Yakov was watching television on the couch. “Welcome home.” There were no unnecessary exchanges; no asking how each other’s day was whatsoever. Yulia Yates changed into slippers and placed her bag on the table before throwing herself onto the sofa. “Here, Soup.” Yakov stood and fetched a bowl of aromatic chicken soup from the kitchen. Yulia looked at the offensive bowl of chicken soup in disgust and spoke impatiently, “Put it down first. We need to talk.” Yakov froze momentarily and sat back on the couch. “Tomorrow’s Family day. Everyone from the Yates Clan will be going back for a get-together.” “Yeah, I know.” Yulia Yates hesitated for a while before deciding to let the cat out of the bag. “The Clan takes Family Day as the chance to make important decisions together. This time, it’s on the matter of my divorce.” Yulia Yates had been living with a man she had no

It did not sit right in Yulia’s chest. She had not expected everyone to be riled up into a frenzy so quickly, for she had initially thought that there was a chance of negotiation. “Grandmother, could we not delay the matter of divorce? Yakov might not be great at everything, but he has changed drastically for the better as of recently.“Not to mention the bronze pot as well, it was a birthday present he had gotten for you.”Perhaps she should not have mentioned the bronze pot, for it only worked to fire Cecelia up who immediately began to chuckle coldly. “The worthless piece of trash was merely lucky, my dear daughter. You can’t possibly believe he could afford an antique worth fifty million Yuan, can you? What a joke!” “You’ve suffered enough wronging these three years. Don’t let your heart soften for such a trashy man.” Yulia yates took a look at the glances everyone was sending her way. The Matriarch nodded gently at her, while her parents had expectation written clearly o

Chapter 18

Yakov Xayarath squinted, glowering at the people around him. It was obvious that Xylia Yates misunderstood. He had saved Xylia, only for her to misunderstand that he had intentions of defiling her. However, he was too lazy to explain himself. It was the same concept, ‘A person who knows they’re strong enough fears not of gossip, humiliation, or unjust’. He was the Dragon King for goodness’ sake, there was no need for him to explain himself to such commoners. There would be no more ties between them the moment he finished repaying their kindness. “You, and everyone else. Your actions today have disappointed me greatly.” Yakov left Yulia Yates a pained look before he turned to leave. Right as he walked out, Yakov Xayarath threw a punch at a large pillar. Everyone was shocked to find out that the pot on the pillar he attacked was left with an enormous dent! Just how strong was this man? Still curled up on the floor, Tyler shivered in a cold sweat as if he had just bru

Chapter 19

She was filled with regret at the memory of her wrongly accusing him in the conference hall. Why on earth had she not waited for the video evidence to arrive first? Yulia Yates had tears streaming down her face that very moment. The image of Yakov’s piercing gaze before he left still fresh in her mind. He must hate her now, for she had slapped him so impulsively before she bothered hearing his side of the truth. Right at that moment, the screen before them flickered to reveal the video image of an old man. “Grandfather! It’s you!” “Zach. Aren’t you still nursing your health overseas? How are you feeling?” The Matriarch carried an expression of shock at the sight of her husband. Zachary Yates had a head of silver and a flushed complexion. As of that moment, he emanated an aura that commanded respect and an expression that clearly portrayed his foul mood. “I hear you’re planning to force Yulia to divorce Yakov?” Momentarily stunned, the Matriarch replied after, “Indeed. Chapter 20

The next morning, Yakov Xayarath arrived at Yin City’s Ivy Orphanage where he had grown up. Yakov had lived at the orphanage for a few years after the death of his parents. It was only by chance, much after, that he had gone overseas. As a result, Yakov Xayarath had deep emotional ties to Ivy Orphanage. Innocent children ran about on the grassy lawn while Rachel Kyne sat cross-legged on the same lawn. Donned in a long white dress, Rachel’s long hair swaying freely, raven locks contrasting against the blinding dash of white. A flower crown, made by the hands of her children, sat prettily on the top of her head. Coupled with her flowy white dress that splayed across the grass she sat on; the scene painted Rachel in the light of a Forest Elf. “I want candy too, Miss Rachel!” A strong and honest looking little boy came running, stopping in front of Rachel Kyne with an impish smile. “You’ve had enough candy for the day, Shoko.” Rachel stretched out an arm to ruffle Shoko’s hair, h
