Chapter 31

It was already about fifteen minutes since we were silently hiding in the closet, and my legs were about to give out. Even though I was leaning against the wall, I was trying to hold myself up straight in order to give Landon the space his bigger body needed to not expose our hiding spot.                          The back of my neck was tired from keeping up my head for so long that I casually leaned my head forward, resting it on Landon's shoulder. I felt the warmth of his hand resting on the wall next to my waist, as we were waiting for Charles to finally leave his room.                          At this point, I was already tired how everything was set up. I should've kept my mouth shut about the loans, dragging Landon into this situation only brought us into worse situations and I should've seen that since the

Chapter 32

Landon looks up at me from the paper, eyes filled with a little worrisome but mostly guilt. My mouth was open, speechless as all I could do was stare off into the blank space. It felt like my heart had stopped.                          I shifted uncomfortably from my seat.                          For three years? Eight grand in three years.                          I can hear Landon turning towards me in his seat, the soft leather creating a soft sound of friction as he tries to make eye contact with me.                          "I can help you," he spoke up in the silence, voice soft as it'll ever get.

Chapter 33

It didn't take long for my body to react unnaturally as I pushed myself away. To my luck, my hand was resting on one of the red cup that was sitting in the cup holder. As I pushed, I felt myself unbalanced as my whole body tumbled forward.                          A soft yelp escaped my lips as our heads found each other's. The moment my forehead hit against his, I started to feel a painful tingle lingering in the center of my head. The water from the cup I'd just tumbled over went flying as all the water sprinkled over us as if there was an indoor rain.                          Regaining my senses, I put my hand on Landon's seat and pushed myself upwards, covering my forehead with the other hand.                          "Ow," I

Chapter 34

"Isaiah?"                          Even though Isaiah has only been to my house once, I could never imagine my brother and some random friend of mine to just meeting. Colton doesn't even have the guts to come inside my house.                          I was utterly confused as all I could do was look back and forth between Isaiah and Austin. Fiddling with the strap of my bag, Austin motioned me to come sit next to him as I followed his little command.                          By this time, I didn't feel tired anymore. It was as if I snapped out of my lazy consciousness and regain a pinch of reality.                          "What are you doing he

Chapter 35

Days after finding out about the debt, I've been avoiding almost everyone from school and keeping my head low in the art room. I brought my own food during lunch, so it was almost never necessary for me to leave this art room unless I had a class to attend to. Even though I was lonely, keeping a low profile kept a lot of drama outside of the circle and I had time to relax to myself.                          I brought the sandwich towards me lips as I took a bite of the dry bread with peanut butter and jelly. I couldn't help but make a face at the disgusting lunch, before bringing my other hand up to paint on the canvas. I didn't know what I was painting, perhaps a sky?                          The door opened quietly, and I didn't bother to look. A few people have bothered to come in and out of the art room, joini

Chapter 36

I found myself being dragged down the same mall that Landon and I went to not too long ago; with a wild Isaiah tagging behind us. Sighing as I held my hand out in front of me, I acted in defeat as he pulls be towards random stores that I've never even heard of. I tried to convince Landon that Bella probably had something in her closet for me to wear, but he did nothing but hush me and explain how important and formal this party was supposed to be.                          Couldn't relate, it's just a party.                          "Just pick one, and let's go home," I whined, slightly tapping my feet against the floor as I see him dig through the few glistening dresses that were hung on the rack.                          He igno

Chapter 37

Isaiah and I were sitting in the basement together, joking about the little fangirls he had around in school during his soccer games. Even though Isaiah never talks about the little fan group he has, he was very well aware of the existence of girls gushing over him.                    "Come on, you were probably like 'Oh my goodness, Isaiah's so hot I wish he can kick the ball like how he – ow!"                    I kept a killer smile on my face as my hand made impact to the side of his head. There was a loud slapping sound while laughter escaped my lips. I couldn't help but find amusement in Isaiah's cheerful personality. The only side that I've experienced was his childish moments where he seemed to not be aware of his surroundings.                    Isaiah leans

Chapter 38

"Are you okay?" Isaiah asks me.                    We were both sitting in the seats of the very top level of the yacht. It was an open rooftop, we were able to see the beautiful water unbalancing against each other and the pitch-black sky that was only lit by the moon.                    It was about eleven at night already, and I was tired of everything that had went down today.                    After Charles had mentioned about my mom, I couldn't help but suddenly back out of the act. It sounded like the plan didn't go out as smoothly as we expected it to, and I was already too drenched in nervousness to

Chapter 39

I opened the door of my bathroom to reveal Aiden and Ms. Winthrop still having a conversation. They both looked at me, and Aiden motions me to come forward.                          Ms. Winthrop had a beautiful red satin dress, that was poufy and long. The train of her dress trails at least a foot behind her, and she had a white faux fur scarf that was elegantly wrapped around her elbows from the back.                          "Greetings, my dear," she introduces to me, rubbing my upper arm the moment I've reached their meeting bubble.                          "This is Isaiah's date, Aubrey Watson," Aiden says.                          She nods

Chapter 40

After the party, Isaiah met up with us one last time before coming to the conclusion that Landon should drive me home. It was already half passed midnight, but so much has happened over these past few hours that it felt like we've spent a year on this cruise.                    Austin called me a while ago, asking me where I've been and if I was safe. All I managed to tell him was that Landon, Isaiah and I were working out a plan to get help for our debt. He almost immediately gave in and decided to cover for me when our father gets home.                    There I was, strolling down the empty parking lot with Landon. The rest of his family decided to stay back in the ship – even when it was already parked, to talk about other business plans for their growing companies. It was quiet between Landon and I, but there was no sense of awkwar
