The midterms were over and it'd been one hell of an awkward one. Junior refused to come home so he spent his midterm break at grandma's place. Speaking of grandmas, I never grew up with one, we never knew each other. I had asked my mum once and she said it in plain, emotionless words that my grandma 'didn't want to meet me'. I sighed as I pushed the thought to the back of my mind. Her loss, not mine.Occasionally bumping into Rose was the main motive behind me calling my break 'awkward'. I don't think I'd ever be able to forget what I saw.School had resumed and the ss2 students had become a shadow of themselves, they were more respectful, neat, quiet and even acted more mature. The boys prostrated lower than before when greeting teachers while girls almost grazed their knees with the floors, like they were greeting their in-laws. All for these posts.

It was the first week of the exams and I was in the library studying for my paper; it was by twelve.The perfect-ship craze was on a low and most students were putting in their all. It was being rumored that the prefects will be chosen based on their academic performance for this term.

It'd been one hell of a week for me and probably, my cousins too. Aunty had been working from home for the past week so we all had to be home at the right time. It was harder on Ruby than Rose and I, I got to see my boyfriend at school everyday though, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of that. Though we still rode home together, I didn't dare go anywhere else but straight home. 

We were all refrained from visiting Mary at the sick bay yesterday after she fainted. But today, students kept on trooping in and out of science class to check on her. Some out of curiosity, others, out of genuine care. 

I woke up with a smile on my face, this was due to yesterday's events. I and Ruby proudly announced our new posts to her parents and they were genuinely proud of us. I sauntered to the kitchen after brushing my teeth. Mama and Aunty were in the kitchen discussing, I could barely make anything out of their whisperings. 

It'd been two days and Junior was still acting the same to everyone except his dad. Aunty was getting worried by the day, I felt Junior drifting away slowly. I made it a mission to find out what was wrong. I was presently in his room trying to get him to talk.
