Chapter 1.

Anabelle's POV.   I could feel the cold sweat drip down my body as I tossed and turned in my sleep, I was dreaming about that night again. That unfortunate night that left me scarred for the rest of my life.   I lost everything that night; My parents, my siblings, my family, my friends, my home and a huge piece of me.  A light tap on my shoulder wakes me up from my dreadful sleep. It was my daughter, Bianca, the only good thing that came out from that night.

Chapter 2.

Anabelle's POV.  "What took you so long?", Gabriella, my closest friend and co-worker asked once I walked into the diner,  "Trouble at Bianca's school, those kids really need a time out", I groaned, taking an apron from the hanger and putting my hair up into a messy bun, "Is Phil here?", I asked glaring at the door which said, 'Manager',  "Nope, he is running late", Gabby answered and looked at the clock, "How I wished we could also chew his ass up when he comes in late", she sighed.

Chapter 3.

Anabelle's POV.  The diner had been busier than ever the past few days and I was wondering why. Maybe it’s because the high school students decided to move their after-school hangout to the diner since Shelby’s Shack had closed down a few days ago. It was never a shocker that the high schoolers chose there to meet up since the place was more fun with a karaoke setup and video games.   Shelby died last month and there was a huge fight on who will take her property. Her youngest son, Aaron was in charge of the shack and in under a month, the place went bankrupt. I really wasn’t surprised that the family business ran to the ground on Aaron’s watch. I mean, he was and still is a very self-centered and egotistical bastard.   He dated Gabby a year ago and just when she started falling in love with him and giving him her all, he cheated on her with a freaking high school cheerleader. Who does that? Th

Chapter 4.

Anabelle's POV. I let out a gasp of surprise and felt a few stray tears roll down my cheeks, “Blaine?”, he was the one who saved me from the evil man. Hastily, Blaine made his way to where I was and crouched down beside me,  “Are you okay?”, his voiced was laced with so much worry, it broke my already damaged heart. I was not okay. I was almost faced with another rapist but this time, Blaine was here to save me, if not for him, I would’ve been raped again. I gave him a weak nod so he would not worry so much but it was somewhat contradicted when a shiver crawled up my body, the man had succeeded in tearing my blouse, letting the cold air of the night hit my skin. Blaine took note of this and pulled off his jacket then wearing it for me gently.  The police came shortly after and took the man away, leaving only Blaine and I in the dark, empty street. You would have thought that

Chapter 5.

Anabelle's POV.I was so happy that the next day was a Saturday, it meant that Bianca didn’t have to go to school, which meant I could call in sick and stay at home. I really didn’t want to leave the comfort and safety of my cozy apartment and the memories of last night still burned fresh in my mind. Yes, I was afraid of going outside- I was afraid of the dangers that were behind my door- it being the only barrier between me and the men who would want to take advantage of me.“Mummy, are you going to work today?”, my daughter had asked me earlier that morning to which I had answered,“No, Bianca. Mummy isn’

Chapter 6.

Anabelle's POV. Somehow, we had ended up on the couch watching re-runs of Bianca’s favorite cartoons. I seriously could not remember the last time I even had the time or space to laugh that hard- the cartoons were just too funny and I was pretty sure that Blaine would agree with me as he had practically fallen off the couch at one point.  Bianca was sitting on the floor with her eyes glued to the screen, she had ordered me to switch off the lights, saying that they made everything boring and uncinematic- I did not even know that word until I was at least sixteen, were all four-year-olds that smart nowadays or was my daughter just infected with some brainy genes that just skipped my nuclear family?

Chapter 7.

Anabelle's POV. I had finally decided to resume to work that Monday, I believed I was feeling better and ready to mingle with the outside world once again, leaving the comfort of my home. After all, I had gotten a call from the police a day before, they asked me to come down to the station to write a statement and see the man who had tried to do such a terrible thing to me. They had also asked to state whether or not I was pressing charges against the man.I honestly did not know what to do, I was never one for all this legal business so I saw pressing charges and prolonging the matter which I hoped to bury deep inside a pit and never find it again. This was what I wanted, but Blaine wanted otherwise. He had tol

Chapter 8.

Anabelle's POV.“You bitch!”, Phil screamed at me all of a sudden, “You are a fucking whore and you are fired! You hear that? I don’t want to see you in my diner ever again”,“Do not worry yourself about that Phil, I already quit”, it baffled me really- the fact that he wasn’t even the slighted bit of sorry after what he had done, was he thinking that I would not take this up because he was my boss? “Good”, he spat, “I can not have a fucking snitch working for me”,I looked at the man incredulously and wondered if he was actually hearing himself talk- he probably could no

Chapter 9.

Anabelle's POV. For the first time in years, I actually had fun and for a split second I actually decided to forget about my problems; I tried to forget the fact that I was now unemployed with no source of income or a way to feed my daughter, I tried to forget the fact that Gabby was currently mad at me and would probably never talk to me again or want anything to do with me, I tried to forget that my boss- ex-boss had tried to have his way with me forcefully.“Mummy”, my daughter called, pulling me out of my thoughts, “Look at me, I have an ice cream moustache”, true enough, she had ice cream on the top of her plump lips- it was so cute that I couldn’t even stifle my laughter,&ldq

Chapter 10.

Anabelle's POV.Five-Forty p.m. that was what the time on my phone said as I sat down on my couch waiting for Blaine to make an appearance. He had said to dress ‘casual’ but I let my excitement get the best of me, of course, I had acted like a teenager and had gone a little bit overboard- a lot overboard. That was mostly Gabby’s fault. She and I had made up a few days ago which wasn’t a surprise as she could not stay mad at me for too long and neither could I. When I told her that I was going out on a date with Blaine, she was so ecstatic and had come over immediately, bringing half her wardrobe with her saying, “You are young but let’s face it, you dress like an old lady”, to that,
