11: The Beauty Goddess

They kept exchanging texts with Farha because she had told her that she was together with Wafiyya and there was no way she would have a phone call with her, knowing fully that nothing could stop Farha from insulting him. When they arrived at the house, Jalilah thought she wasn’t nervous until she set her feet down from the car and figured out after three days of not seeing him, she was finally going to do that today. This was the longest she had ever taken without seeing Yazeed, and she didn’t feel like she was missing him so badly to the point that she might need an oxygen provider. She was doing fine, in fact, she didn’t want to see him.

12: Art Showcase

There was a company dinner today at 8 pm and she had been practically running around her house while being on the phone with Farha. It happened after every six months. Farha had been asking her to calm down but that was the last thing on Jalilah’s mind right now. First, she was nervous about the thong of people she would have to meet today, second, she was nervous because if what they had planned with Farha didn’t work out, she knew she would break down in front of everyone. And the main reason for all this is, parties aren’t her thing.  It had been a week sin

14: Her Chef

She was cuddled up on her bed like how it had become a routine for her, whenever she came back from work, she did nothing but curled up into a fetus position in her bed or her living room, nothing appealed to her anymore. She wanted to go back home, so that maybe if she was there, she would feel relieved. But she couldn’t do that when she was in this state of mind, she knew Mama would bombard her with questions of what was going on in her life, and there was no way she could tell her the truth. She’d rather go after she was back to her normal self when it didn’t hurt as much as it did now.

15: The Flight Game

She was sleeping when the shrilling sound of her phone woke her up. She groaned softly and with her eyes closed, Jalilah pulled her phone from underneath her pillow and slide the answer button. “Hello?” She slurred, wanting nothing but to close her eyes back and sleep until she felt exhausted to sleep. She had spent almost all the night packing her clothes, and packing had always been a hideous task for her. “You’re still asleep?” His morning husky voice echoed in her ears, she didn’t know when jerked upright and her eyes opened immediately.

16: Ruination

They were seated together with Mama in the living room, waiting for the driver to bring Yazeed home. She looked at Mama and heaved a sigh when she flashed her a wide smile, “Why are you so nervous, Jalilah am? What’s the surprise you’re talking about?” The moment Jalilah heard that she wanted to vanish, but she knew she had to do this. “They’ll be here in no time, Mama. But first, no questions, you promised, right?” Mama nodded her head and Jalilah went again, “And you also promised you’ll understand me to the best of your abilit

17: After The Storm

She couldn’t count the hours she had spent crying in her room, she had cried to the point that her bloodshot eyes ached whenever she let a tear slipped down from them. It hurt her heart until she felt all those heart squeezes were no more. Jalilah had never thought it will turn out to this. Yes, she knew that this wasn’t just a normal lie she was used to telling. This was huge, and if she had made the mistake of telling this to Uncle Yusuf, she knew Mama will only get the news of her admitted in the hospital because she knew he would make sure he had broken all the bones in her body. She had also never thought that it was a huge lie, so perfectly blown to the point that Mama wouldn’t want to see or listen to her. Whatever happened, Mama had never done this to her, she knew she was wrong, and to top it all, she was even lying about being married

18: Trauma

“I don't think I can do this, Wafiyya.” She lamented and held more onto her bag. They were already at the airport, and she was finding it hard to get out of the car. She didn’t tell Wafiyya that they had won that couple package because if he had acted the way he did when she lied to her mother about being married to him when he knew it was sole because of ballet, she didn’t know how he would act if she told his cousin they had won the couple quiz and would stay in the hotel for two days. Did that even count? Maybe they were only taking the free flight and abandoning the hotel stay.

19: The Body

The moment he felt her hands into his hair, Yazeed knew he had to slow himself down unless he wanted something to happen, which he was sure they would both regret later. He eased off, and she slackened on him as if she was butter and him the fire that had successfully melted her with his lips. He broke apart from his lips, and thankfully, she had calmed down now. She wasn’t crying nor did her body trembled. She looked calm, shy, and peaceful altogether. She just stood there, close to him as she fixed her hands now that were on her laps. He didn’t know how he found it in him to smile, but he did. Because he had realized the calm and don’t forget, shy Jalilah will be the most beautiful thing he could ever see.

20: Angry Best Friend

She didn’t know how she had slept this long, maybe because she had so much in her mind and she tends to sleep so much whenever she was feeling down? Stifling a yawn, Jalilah stretched her body on the sofa and looked at the wall clock on the wall. What? It was already thirty minutes past 4 in the evening. How could she have slept this long? She closed her eyes and was glad that she had slept because if not for what had happened to Yazeed, she would have sleep immediately after she was back because of the spa she had eased her muscles. Speaking of him, she had forgotten about him and Jalilah immediately stood up.
