21: Busy Streets

It had already been a week since they had come to what should she call it? Their house or his house? Whatever it was, she preferred to refer to it as his house. That made it nine days since she had left Abuja and ten days since she left Adamawa. It had been one hell of a ride, it had just been ten days since she had her life crushed down, her tears drained and she emotionally locked up. Mama was still not answering her phone call and she got tired of calling Fareeda to ask her to take the phone to her. She realized she was only making Mama angrier than she was by constant calling her, she finally decided to give her time, just like Farha suggested earlier.

22: Rule Breakers

She was walking fast in her room, if not because of Farha that had called her, she wouldn't have woke up on time. And that way, she would have tempered with their agreed time with Jibril, which will be so careless of her. It was Sunday already, and the last time she saw Yazeed was when she left him in the dining table and went to her room, Friday night. He was doing all it took not to crossways with her, and little did he know that she wanted that more than how he wanted that. In her usual abaya dressing, Jalilah got ready and was walking down the stairs when she met him. Where was he going? Only God knew. But it looked as if he was heading outside.

23: Colors Of Perfection

She looked tired, no, he had to rephrase that sentence, she was tired. He had been standing on the stairs, his right hand on the railing as he stared at the ways he danced. He wondered how she was able to do that. She came back from the ballet school only some hours ago, he doubted if she had taken her dinner yet. This had been going on for almost a month now, the last time they had spoken and he let her see his face was the day they had that date. Yes, he could admit to that being a date, because if not, what would he call it? That was the happiest Yazeed had been in years that had surpassed. And after that, he went into hiding again.

24: Emotional Blackmail

She was walking around the kitchen, picking one thing or the other as she moved it to where it was, while she cooked. Her phone was pinned between her shoulder and her ear, listening to the ramblings coming from Farha. It was always about Nura, how she was tired of how persistent he was and how she wanted to push him out of her life but he acted as if he didn’t know what she was doing. She was giving her a few advices and when Yazeed walked into the kitchen, he rushed to where she was and held the phone for her. She flashed him an appreciative smile and he spoke softly at her.

25: His Home

“I don’t know where we are now, but we’ve reached oke-ilewo, right Yazeed?” She was on phone with Farha while she directed them to her house, he nodded his head at her and fixed his eyes on the road. “Zone 2, yes, that’s we have been following on the map.” She ended the close and turned to Yazeed, “Can I see your phone? She told me the exact location which is Tunde Osokoya close, house number two. We need to put that so we don’t get lost.” Without a word, Yazeed handed her his phone and she put in the details.  “

26: Soul Therapy

She wished she could turn back the hands of time and spend two more days with Farha, it turned out after so much begging, Yazeed let her stay for those two days. It was the happiest she had been in a very long time, and right now that she was standing by the car, not being able to get into it was the toughest she had felt. She wanted to ask him for another day but she knew it wouldn't be possible, they all sacrificed something for the other, Farha hadn't gone for her work too. She hugged her once again and this time, Farha pushed her into the car and smiled. “Whenever I get th

27: Ballerina

She didn’t know what she was going to do anymore, her head had been so choked up that she didn’t think she could be able to make it. For the last two weeks, Yazeed didn't spare her a glance nor did he speak to her even, and no matter how much she’d try, he wouldn't act as if she was there. She could still remember how happy she was when Yazeed called her and told her that he would be there to take her home, he had already told David not to bother picking her up. They were good then, so good that she sometimes mistook them as a lovely couple. She practically ran to his car after he pulled over at the ballet school and entered the car.

28: Rain Of Emotions

She was anxious, maybe she could even touch her heart if she let hand stay longer than a minute on her chest. She wasn't hell-bent on winning, it wasn't a loss if she didn’t win, but at the same time, she wanted to win. Angst had been eating up on her soul since they started practising with Yazeed. He always played the piano for her even though she had gotten her phone back, and she could say it was enough to encourage her. But it did little to no good for her heart. She had turned off her phone since yesterday night, she knew Farha would call, Wafiyya would call too, maybe Sulaiman would call too if Wafiyya told him. But she knew that having a call with them will make her more anxious than she was, it would give her hope which after she had failed it would crush her.

29: Revelation Of Love

She didn’t know what had happened, she couldn't say how it happened. Everything had been so choked up for her that even though she was supposed to be happy about the competition she had won, happy that she had given her soul what she wanted since she knew what loving something meant, happy that she didn't lie to her mother, it became a fruitful lie, but she wasn’t as happy as she thought she would be. She didn’t know what changed him, he wasn’t his old self anymore. Talking about his old self would be much easier, she hardly recognized who he was now. She didn’t see him, and even if she did, the way he looked gave her no chance of uttering a word to him. Jalilah had spent days wondering what was wrong with Yazeed, if he was thinking about his mother and sister he should at least let her know, maybe she could do something about it, m

30: 'Can I Be Your Mrs?'

It went on for long that she felt exhausted with just exhaling her breath. She thought that if she avoided him like he did to her she could be able to forget about him, maybe lay out a new curriculum for her life, but Jalilah had been wrong. She failed this time too. Nothing excited her, not even ballet. Maybe because she wanted him to be playing the piano for her while she danced? Was it because she wanted him to stare at her while she danced as though she were the most beautiful creature he had ever seen? And after she was done dancing, he would come over to her and tell her how much of a goddess she was, how much of a perfected art she was. Maybe that was why, because she had attached too much too much resilience on him when it came to ballet, and now that the only things linking them was the house they lived, Jalilah knew it would be so hard to dance.
