1: Elevator Meet-up

She closed the door of the Uber she had taken and she smiled to herself, fixing back her veil into place. She watched as the driver drove off before she turned to face the gigantic building in front of her. She let out a giggle; which had many reasons for her. One, she felt that, leaving Adamawa was one of her greatest achievements in life, she could finally be the person she had always dreamed of being. Two, she knew there were greater opportunities in Abuja, and there was no way she was leaving this state without fulfilling all that she dreamed of. She knew Mama would surely come and find her if she heard that corpers had passing out parade, but she would have to make another excuse, she was just starting, right? This wouldn’t be a problem. She would figu

2: Working Together

She ran to the elevator before it closed and entered, heaving a sigh out of relief. She knew if she had slackened, she would have waited there until someone came, which she was sure there would be no one unless the ones coming down for something because she was late enough for the day. She would have to find herself a driver, which they would reach an agreement because this Uber didn’t help a lot sometimes. She calmed herself down and turned to look at the people in the elevator. ‘Damn it’ nearly fell from her lips, did she have to run onto him every day? And that too in the elevator?

Most of the days he didn’t sleep, he only rested at night. But on days he wanted to sleep so badly, he had to take his sleeping pills. 4: Eccentric Boss

He found it so hard to take his eyes off her, with the reason unbeknownst to him. Especially when they were in the pharmacy and the doctor was examining her leg, he had to pretend that he was using his phone so as not to appear stupid. When she let that cry out, Yazeed felt something within him, and he had to look up to meet the tears flowing down her cheeks. And until now that she had this pout on her lips while she looked through the window which was obvious to avoid his gaze, Yazeed couldn’t take his eyes off her. Maybe it was because he felt guilty that she had to pause with her practice because of him, he was the one that hit her after all. Maybe it wasn’t the guilt, he wanted to see her dance one more time.

5: 'I Got These For You'

She tried stretching her body but she felt as her joints moved painfully. Lazily opening her eyes, Jalilah looked at the clock on her bedside drawer which caused her to jerk upright, which made her experienced the worst kind of pain she had ever experienced in a very long time. She placed her hands on her head and groaned, feeling as her temperature rose a bit. She knew something of this nature would happen, but never this worse. And now, she had to be at work, she was even late. She groaned again and walked softly to her kitchen, finding it so hard with her sprained ankle and her h

He was walking around in the kitchen, trying to make his sandwich while making sure he met up with the time without being late for work. The sound that came through his phone caught his attention and he walked out to his living room, wondering who called or texted him at this time. Taking a sip of his coffee, Yazeed sat down and took his phone to read the message, it came from Sulaiman. He tried reading it aloud but the way his voice sounded made him changed his mind, too bad for a morning voice. ‘Hey, Man! the morning I don’t whether you slept well or not. I feel so bad

“But when did he come back, Sulaiman?” He asked as he stood up, compiling the documents he knew he had to present to him. As much as he didn’t want to go there, he knew he had no other choice. “I don’t know either, but he comes to the company today. You have to do quick and meet him at his office, he requested to see you.” He nodded his head as if Sulaiman could see him and didn’t voice another word out when he ended the call and looked at Jalilah that was so immersed in her work. She looked so calm and collected that he envied her for a mom

His eyes were fixed on the road while his hands expertly moved the steering wheel around, she didn’t know what had gotten into her to be staring at him this hard without an ounce feeling of shame that he might at any minute and he will find her staring. Something clicked in her brain, they had never spoken about her house, she didn’t have his number nor did he have hers. How did he get all that within just a day? Or he dialled his number on her phone and tracked her address? No, he couldn’t do that, she even had a password on her phone. “How did you find my h

10: Words And Embers

He had his phone pinned to his left ear as he heard the endless the way Alhaji was pouring it out on him. It got to the point that he cut him off amidst his outrage and spoke, “I told you, Alhaji, it was Sulaiman’s child. I have nothing to do with it, it was just a picture!” He knew yelling at his dad was one of the most grievous things he could ever because no matter how bad his father was, he was still his father. And he wouldn't love it himself to have his child yelling at him. “Are you trying to yell at me, Yazeed? What the hell is wrong with you? How did
