Chapter 304 Never Giving Up

Gu Anran did not know when her stomach had become so weak. She wanted to vomit when she saw that disgusting and unappetizing food. However, her stomach was empty, so she could only heave. It took a while before she felt better and changed into a new set of clothes. Then, she settled down for some takeaway food.

In the late evening, when Second Young Master Jiang returned to his room for a shower, she took a business card from her bag and called Yang Yi.

"Help me to look for a person, Quanxing Detective Agency, Dong Quanxing."

That was the first thing in her mind after she woke up from her sleep in the car by the beach. She found that business card in between the pages of a book that belonged to the old madam. She must have contacted the private detective before that.

The old madam had not known Gu Weizi in the beginning. The old lady must have requested the detective agency to search for Gu Anran. "And, can you please help me to find another person."

Two days later, it was the weekend. Gu Anran sorted out her work in her office and then went out with Yang Yi.

"Dong Quanxing received a huge sum of money three months ago, and he has gone abroad for vacation since then. The detective agency also went out of business, and even the office was leased."

"A huge sum of money?" Gu Anran's fingers stopped mid-scroll on her phone, and she turned to stare at Yang Yi.

"Yes, but don't worry. I have checked it out for you. The old madam was the one who transferred the money."

Gu Anran's heart tightened, and she stared firmly at his face. "In that case, he might have gone abroad because of the old madam."

The old madam probably did not want the other family members to find out about the matter, especially Old Master Mu. Hence, she had arranged for Dong Quanxing to go overseas with a large sum of money. Even though he was supposed to go abroad for a vacation, no one knew if he would return. They might not be able to find him in Beiling for a while.

The old madam did not want the old master to know about her granddaughter. As a woman, Gu Anran understood the old madam's concerns. She was afraid that the old master would not approve of her granddaughter.

However, the old madam could not leave her granddaughter alone. Therefore, she tried her best to get Eldest Young Master Mu to get engaged with her granddaughter. The best way for her to keep her granddaughter with her was through marriage. That explained why the old madam was so persistent in Mu Zhanbei and Gu Anran's marriage. The old madam did everything she could for her one and only granddaughter.

"Ranran, that detective must have found you. Otherwise, the old madam would not have reacted the way she did with you."

Yang Yi held the steering wheel and said in a resolute tone, "Don't worry, Ranran. I will help you to find Dong Quanxing!"

Gu Anran nodded and calmed down. Her enemies were simply too powerful. They could even tamper with the information in the hospital database. If it were someone else, they would have given up at that stage. However, Gu Anran was not one to give up. Never!

"Yang Yi, you'll have to be careful. I don't know if those people would target you."

"What could they do in broad daylight? Don't worry. Nothing will happen to me."

The car stopped by a street. Yang Yi got out, and Gu Anran followed behind him.

"She's here?" The place looked somewhat remote; it was surrounded by small restaurants and some cheap clothing stores.

"She's working somewhere around here, I'll go check it out..." Yang Yi stopped talking abruptly because he spotted the girl in front of him.

The girl did not react when she saw Yang Yi, but when she saw Gu Anran next to Yang Yi, her face changed, and she turned to leave immediately.

"It's her! Yang Yi, quick. Chase after her!" Gu Anran dashed forward.

Fortunately, Yang Yi was so much faster than her. He managed to force the girl into the corner of the street.

"What are you trying to do? Don't you dare come any closer. I'm going to call for help!" the girl said.

"I don't want to do anything, but she has something to ask you." Yang Yi pointed at Gu Anran.

When the girl saw Gu Anran, she turned her face away from her. "You've got the wrong person. Let me go! I have to get back to work!"

"How long do you plan on hiding?" Gu Anran sped up and walked toward her.

She was not sure what had happened to her in the past two days, but she noticed that her body had become unwell. She was out of breath just because she had walked a little faster. She never used to be so fragile! Gu Anran ignored her inexplicable weakness and stared at Ah Xin. Her face darkened.

"Why won't you look at me? Are you feeling guilty? Ah Xin, you have done something to wrong me, haven't you?"

"No, I haven't!" The girl was the maid that Gu Anran had dismissed from the Mu's mansion, Ah Xin.

Ah Xin looked at her and said displeasingly, "Why should I feel guilty? You were the one who dismissed me from the Mus. Shouldn't you be feeling guilty?"

"You helped Gu Weizi to plot against the old madam. You are Gu Weizi's accomplice!"

Ah Xin's face changed, but she recovered quickly. She tried to look indifferent. "I don't know what you're talking about. Gu Anran, you are no longer Young Madam Mu, nor am I a maid in the Mu's mansion. What right do you have to question me?"

"I have the right to do that because I have evidence of you colluding with Gu Weizi."

Ah Xin's face changed slightly, but it did not escape Gu Anran's scrutiny. She was Gu Weizi's spy by the old madam's side, indeed.

"What do you think you can find out?"

"He can check anything and everything, including information on your relatives in Lingzhou and your illegitimate daughter."

"What did you say?" Gu Anran's words made Ah Xin jump. She was clearly anxious.

How did she know about that? How did she find out?!
