Chapter 15

James Murphy laughed coldly. "Please reconsider things properly. Your son was the one who hit my daughter first. He fell on his own."

“Wah! Sob… mommy, he hit me. My butt hurts…”

At that moment. The little boy sitting on the ground started sobbing loudly. It was clear that he was a spoiled brat.

The woman did not seem to care about the truth. She pointed at James’ face and yelled,

“How dare you hit my child? Do you want to die?”

Wendy Summer's brows furrowed, and she tried to explain calmly, "We did not touch your son. Your son was the one who tried to hit my daughter. He fell on his own."

They had not expected the woman to be completely unreasonable as she continued shouting, “You were the one who hit my child! You damned bastard!”

Without another word, she raised her arm with the intention of slapping Bella Summer in her face.

“Don’t you dare!”

Unexpectedly, before James could act, Wendy lost her temper. How dare anyone touch her precious baby?

In a fit of rage, Wendy rushed forward and slapped the woman, causing the latter to stumble backward a few steps.

The scene astonished onlookers.

The boy was shocked and did not dare cry anymore. He sat on the floor in a daze; he could only watch as his mother took the slap to her face.

Never underestimate the instincts of a mother!

Wendy had gone through a lot for Bella. She had endured all sorts of criticism, and she had even almost been chased out of the Summer family just because she wanted to give birth to her daughter.

She would never let anyone hurt Bella.

There was now a red handprint on the woman’s cheek. The woman held her face as she glared at Wendy with a venomous look.

“You b*tch, how dare you hit me? Do you know who I am? My husband is-”

“I don’t care who you are, watch your mouth!”

James snorted and threw a backhanded slap at her face. Consequently, she fell to the ground.

At that moment, the woman was dumbfounded. She had never thought that someone in Yidu would dare slap her, twice at that in front of so many people; it was a couple who had done so nonetheless.

If it was not for the burning sensation in her cheeks, she would have thought that she was having a nightmare.

Nevertheless, she was now aware that she had encountered some heartless folks.

“Remember, teach your son how to be a proper person next time.”

James glared coldly at the woman, making the latter tremble. Additionally, the woman was rendered speechless.

Then, James knelt in front of the little boy, gave him an icy stare, and said, "In the future, if you dare to bully Bella, I'll beat you up too!"

The arrogant child was horrified and started to cry once more.

At that moment, Wendy picked up her daughter and said to James softly, “Let’s leave.”

“Let’s go!”

The family of three drove off after getting into their car, and Bella’s joyful laughter could be heard in the distance.

Some of the surrounding parents knew that the middle-aged woman who had just taken a beating was Jessica Harris, the wife of the second person in charge of Yidu’s Larson family, Ian Larson.

Ian Larson only managed to have a child in his later years. Nonetheless, he pampered both his wife and son. Naturally, both of them became spoiled.

Furthermore, Ian Larson was the leader of the joint defense team in charge of public security. His wife had been slapped in public twice, so there was no way of resolving the matter. In the other parents' hearts, James and Wendy had already been sentenced to certain doom as they would receive retribution for sure. Therefore, they quickly advised their children to stay away from Bella and hurriedly took their children away from the gray area in case they ended up getting in trouble too.

However, unbeknownst to those people, the second young master of the Larson family had been sent to prison by James earlier that afternoon.

Just like the Fuller family, the entire Larson family was James’ target. It was a dog-eat-dog world, and there was nothing the weak could do.

“You can run now, but you wont’ be able to hide forever. Just you wait, my husband will send people to break your legs!”

Jessica Harris's expression was filled with resentment. She cursed venemously as she watched the silhouette of their car disappear.

James had mixed feelings upon parking the car at the side of the Summer house.

When Wendy slapped that woman, it made James feel the greatness of a mother’s love. He could not help but think of his poor mother. The Fuller and Larson family would not let him go that easily.

When he thought of how hard it had been for Wendy throughout the past few years, he felt a little depressed.

“Thank you!”

Wendy thanked James as she carried her daughter in her arms. A gentle look could be seen within Wendy’s watery gaze.

She had initially been worried that the reason for James’ divorce was that he had unhealthy hobbies or some sort of bad trait.

However, she was now sure that the man before her was not bad. Instead, he was a good man.

Moreover, this man had saved her. Wendy felt very fortunate in the decision she had made.

She said to James, “Remember to wake up early and send Bella to school tomorrow morning.”

“Alright, I’ll be punctual.”

Looking at the smiles of his wife and daughter, James felt the unhappiness in his heart slowly disappear.

Bella started to panic, and she began sobbing. “Daddy, why won’t you come home with us? Mama, is daddy not going to eat with us and sleep with us?

“I don’t want daddy to leave. All the other kids sleep with their mommies and daddies.”

As Bella cried, she began squirming like a pond loach, struggling to break free of Wendy’s hold. She wanted to jump down and cling onto James.

Naturally, Wendy could not hold onto the little child for long.

“Be a good girl, daddy still has business to take care of. He’ll come and fetch you to school tomorrow morning,” James explained gently.

Unknowingly, he and Wendy had gotten very close. Additionally, Wendy had inhaled a gust of his masculine scent.

The two of them were almost touching, and at that moment, Wendy blushed as she felt her body heat up.

She knew that James had not done anything on purpose, so she tried to restrain herself and not lose her temper.

James managed to persuade Bella after a while by promising her that he would buy her snacks and a new doll. Nevertheless, Belle was still pouting when she agreed reluctantly.

Upon seeing her unhappy face, James’ heart was filled with a deep sense of guilt and helplessness.

He wanted to stay as well. However, looking at the quiet Wendy, he sighed silently. He did not know when he could finally rid himself of his “rapist” tag.

“Give me a kiss, daddy!”

At that moment, Bella reached out and grabbed James’ face before pecking his cheek. James laughed happily.

Unexpectedly, Bella held James’ head with her left hand and gently pressed the back of Wendy’s head with her right. She pushed both of them with her hands. “Daddy is leaving, give him a kiss mommy!”

Caught off guard, James and Wendy suddenly found their lips touching.

Then, as if they had been struck by a bolt of lightning, the two of them were dumbfounded. Additionally, their bodies stiffened.

“What are you doing, Bella?!”

When Wendy returned to her senses, she was blushing. She shouted at her daughter bashfully.

“Wah… other kids’ parents… they, they call kiss like this…wuu…”

Bella pouted and started to cry.

At that moment, Bella was at a loss about what to do. She could only turn away, reluctant to look at James.

"I… I'll take my leave first… Bella, daddy still has some business to attend to. I have to go first, I'll come pick you up tomorrow.”

James was frantic. With a flushed face, he quickly turned and left.
