Chapter 10

Hugh was not expecting that James to actually be aware of it. Based on his tone, something bad must have happened to the two kidnappers that he had hired.

That was impossible!

Hugh did not believe that a mere security guard had the skills to restrain them.

"Don't you dare try anything! I have already called the police. You’ll be as good as gone in no time!"

He felt a terrifying aura being emitted from James's body. Having fallen into a panic, Hugh immediately clamored to pump himself up.

"Called the police?"

When James who was about to make a move heard that, he suddenly smiled. "Okay. I'll wait a little longer then. You’re the perpetrator of Wendy’s kidnapping and you’re threatening us. I’m interested to see what will happen to you later."

Hugh laughed out loud when he heard that. "Do you think you can frighten me just by spewing nonsense? Because of my identity as the second son of the Larson family, no one will help you. If you don't believe me, let's wait and see. I’ll make sure that you’ll rot in jail. ."

Wendy was beginning to feel very anxious. James was indeed manly, but he was stubborn and naive.

Since Hugh had taken the initiative to call the police, the situation would only be detrimental for James.

At that time, Hugh was unaware that Walker had asked someone to send the two kidnappers to the bureau. The two kidnappers' confession video had also been sent to the media.

"Weewoo! Weewoo!"

The faint sound of police sirens blaring could be heard from downstairs.

Hugh jumped with joy and pointed at James, "Boy, just you wait, you’ll get what you deserve."

"Kneel! Did I permit you to get up?"

James slapped Hugh so hard that the latter fell to the ground again. It took a while for Hugh to regain his bearings.

"Just you wait!"

Hugh stared at James bitterly and thought about how he would retaliate. He was hell-bent on James going to jail. He had even planned for someone to beat James up in jail so that he could get his revenge.

Wendy became really nervous in the heat of a situation. She quickly grabbed James by the arm and said, "Stop being an idiot, run!"

In stark contrast to Wendy, James was indifferent as he stood his ground.

Soon, chaotic footsteps were heard at the company's entrance.

Several officers in uniform walked in.

Leading the way was a middle-aged man with dashing eyebrows and a square face. At first glance, one could tell that he was a powerful man.

When Hugh saw the middle-aged man, he immediately jumped for joy. He got up from the ground and shouted loudly, "Uncle, help me! This is the guy who hit me, get him… Whoops!"

Before he could finish speaking, James slapped Hugh once more in front of everyone. Hugh was slapped so hard to the point he had begun spinning around.

‘This is slap number…? He’s so domineering!’

Everyone was stunned, they had not expected James to act so arrogantly.

Wendy was the first to snap out of it as she quickly walked over to the middle-aged man to explain, "It was Hugh who threatened me first, he… he insulted me..."

Wendy’s heart felt heavy as she had heard Hugh refer to the middle-aged man as his uncle. Consequently, she had begun stuttering due to the discomfort she felt toward the situation.

"Shut up, there’s no point in saying anything now!"

Sure enough, the other party waived his hand rudely and interrupted Wendy's words.

Wendy's expression became even more unsightly. She turned her head and looked at James helplessly. She whispered in an accusatory-like tone, "Why did you have to act so impulsively? Couldn’t you have kept it in?"

However, James only smiled lightly and acted as if he did not have a care in the world.

"You! You... dare hit me? You dare… dare hit me in front of my uncle? Don't you know that my uncle, Ian Larson, is the captain of the bureau?"

Hugh had cleared his head and could not believe it.

Furthermore, he grabbed \the middle-aged man's hand and prompted him urgently, "Uncle, you are the captain, get him now!"

"James, you’re going to jail. Had you apologized to me, things could have ended better. But now, you’re going to rot in jail!”

Hugh begged his uncle as he cursed at James without any restraint.

That was it!

Wendy was devastated. However, she still wanted to say something to defend James.

"Shut up!"

Unexpectedly, Ian Larson yelled at Hugh and then pointed at him helplessly in front of his subordinates, "What are you standing there for? Get this bastard in handcuffs, quickly!"

Ian Larson’s two team members immediately restrained Hugh from both sides, and handcuffs were then slapped onto Hugh’s hands, "Hugh Larson, you are suspected to be involved in a kidnapping case. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court."

"You.. .what are you doing? Uncle… Uncle, what is going on? Why are you arresting me?"

Hugh was in a state of panic, and his face had an expression of horror on it.

The employees of Siren Pharmaceutical were stunned. The situation had developed in an unexpected manner.

Wendy's eyes widened in shock. It turns out that the perpetrator behind her kidnapping the night before was Hugh. What a scumbag!

"Uncle, I’m innocent! It was James. He framed me, he framed me. Uncle, save me, save me!"

Hugh yelled furiously.

"Stop yelling, the two kidnappers were sent to the bureau and they have admitted to everything."

Ian Larson frowned and glared at Hugh. His nephew had disappointed him.

Nevertheless, he did not have a good impression of James either, and it could even be said that he was angry at him. How dare he lay hands on a member of the Larson family in front of him.

If revenge was not taken, how would the Larson family stand tall in York City in the future?

"Hmph!"

He turned his head and glared at James but did not dare do anything beyond that.

Before he arrived at Siren Pharmaceuticals, he had received a strict order from above. He was ordered to arrest only Hugh and not interfere with anything else.

Ian Larson had never been given such an unbelievable order before.

Anger boiled from the bottom of his heart. However, his superior’s order was absolute, and he had to obey them lest he shot himself in the foot.

Although the Larson family was rich, it did not mean it had been easy for him to get obtain his position as captain.

Money was not the same as power!

"Uncle, save me! Uncle!"

Hugh was dragged out. Simultaneously, his bleak and shrill shouts echoed in the corridor.

"James, f*ck you!"

Ian Larson glared at James. The former was pissed.

Ian Larson was an ant-like character to James, so the latter did not even bother looking at him.

Ian Larson felt snubbed. Thus, he snorted and quickly walked out of the office.

The entire office was dead silent, no one said a word.

After a long time, Wendy came back to her senses. She had not expected such a perfect ending.

James smiled and said, "There’s finally peace and quiet. Hugh won’t be able to bother you anymore. He’ll be in prison for at least ten to twenty years."

Wendy nodded, frowned, and then said, "James, you are too impulsive. You slapped him again and again..."

Having said that, Wendy started laughing herself. It was indeed very relieving.

Nevertheless, after thinking about it for a while Wendy still felt uneasy. Hence, she pulled James into the general manager’s office, opened the drawer, and took out a stack of cash. She held it in front of James’ face and said, "James, I know all of this happened because of me. I'm sorry for having involved you in it. Here’s some money for you; leave York City at once and hide in a remote place for a while. The Larson family will not let you off so easily. Come back when things have settled down."
