Chapter 7

Saoirse observed her daughter quietly. Serena was sitting on the table quietly and playing with her food.

"Are you okay sweetie?" she asked.

"Huh? Oh yeah...I'm fine," Serena said and chewed on the fork absentmindedly.

Saoirse didn't believe it for one second. She knew her daughter very well. Serena was wild, sassy with a cheerful personality. She never acted like she was depressed before. It was as if she had a lot in her mind.

"What's wrong Serena? You know you can tell me anything," Saoirse said gently and brushed a few strands of hair away from Serena's eyes.

"Am I evil for forcing someone to marry me like this?" she asked. It wasn't like she regretted making the decision but it didn't mean she didn't feel guilty at all. She was a human after all.

Saoirse turned serious. "You are anything but evil honey but what you are doing isn't right. That's for sure," she said.

But Serena already knew that and yet, she was going through with it no matter what and she had her reasons.

When she told her father about how much she wanted Noah, he didn't hesitate for one second. She knew he wouldn't object to her wishes. Alexander Wolf would do anything for his wife and daughter no matter what they wanted from him. Even if it meant threatening a random college student to marry Serena. He didn't ask her a lot of questions. All he did was ask her if she was a hundred percent sure about the guy.

"He is the only one I want dad," she had told her father.

Alex nodded and told her that he'd take care of it. So now here she was, looking forward to her wedding.

"I am coming for you Noah," she murmured.

Noah sat in front of Kelly's parents at the dinner table. He was taking small bites of the pasta in front of him but he could barely taste anything as his head was full of the thoughts of Serena.

Who was she? What did she want? And what did she mean when she said he will find out soon enough?

Too many questions, not enough answers.

"Are you okay?" Kelly asked him later that night.

"There is something I need to talk to you about. But promise you won't get angry?" Noah said. There was no way Kelly won't be furious but he had to tell her the truth.

Kelly looked worried. "What is it? What's wrong?" she asked.

"I got involved in a weird situation. A situation I can't explain," he said hesitantly.

"What kind of situation?" Kelly asked.

"Well, remember when you broke up with me a while ago and we saw each other at a club?" Noah let out a nervous chuckle.

"How could I forget? You walked out with some blonde woman right in front of me," Kelly said bitterly.

"Well...it turned out I haven't seen the last of her," Noah concluded.

Kelly looked at him intently. "What are you talking about?" she asked. Her eyes turned wide all of a sudden. "Oh my god! Is she pregnant?" Kelly asked.

"No, no, nothing like that!" Noah protested quickly.

"Then what? You told me you never met her before that night and it meant nothing to you. So why are you bringing her up?" Kelly was confused.

"Well...you see...she somehow developed a weird obsession over me and now she is trying to get me to marry her," Noah let it all out to Kelly. He felt a lot better as if a heavy weight lifted off of his chest.

Kelly laughed out loud. "What! That's just absurd. She barely knows you!" she exclaimed.

"I know right?" Noah threw his hands up in frustration.

"So I don't get what the problem is. Just tell her that her proposal is crazy and turn her down. I mean we are in a relationship for Christ's sake. That's what you did right? You told her no?" Kelly asked and looked at him curiously.

Noah exhaled. "I am afraid not. Her name is Serena Wolf and well...it turns out we are engaged now," he said and paused for Kelly's reaction.

Kelly looked at him for a few moments then burst out laughing. "You are so funny, Noah. You expect me to fall for this? What kind of stupid joke is this anyway?" Kelly shook her head.

"This is not a joke Kelly! My life is in serious danger. I was forced to say yes to her proposal. She sent her father and his men after me. He is in the Mafia!" Noah blurted everything out.

Kelly finally absorbed the information. Her eyes turned wide. "Oh my god, you are not joking. What the hell?" she screamed.

"Shh...I don't want your parents to find out," Noah whispered and put his fingers on her lips.

"What are you talking about? You need to call the police!" Kelly exclaimed.

"I can't! It's Alexander Wolf's daughter. You know who it is don't you?" Noah said irritably.

Kelly heard or seen that name before. She knew he was rich and powerful but she had no idea he was in the Mafia.

"What can we do then?" Kelly asked. Her eyes finally showed fear as she realized the depth of this situation.

Noah sighed. "I am gonna have to marry Serena Wolf." he said.
