Chapter 8

"WHAT!" Kelly screamed. "Are you out of your mind?"

"Shh...do you want your parents to hear us?" Noah warned her.

"Maybe they should hear this because you are being ridiculous," Kelly said. She was fuming.

"You don't understand Kelly, this is a serious problem. She is not an ordinary girl. Her father is a goddamn criminal and he won't hesitate to kill me!" Noah said.

"So what happens now? You marry her and everything is going to be fine? What about me? What's gonna happen to us?" Kelly demanded to know.

Noah cupped her cheeks. "I am going to figure this out. Please be patient with me," he said.

Kelly sighed. She knew Noah was a good guy and he would never intentionally hurt her. "I don't understand what the hell is going on but you better sort this out or we are over," she said grimly.

Noah nodded. This was probably the craziest situation he has ever been in.

Alex stared at his daughter who casually took a bite of her Ramen noodles. She had access to all those delicious meals prepared by his personal chef and yet, she insists on eating processed crap. Telling her to eat healthier was pointless too. That girl was as stubborn as her father.

"I weep for your artery. Try to eat vegetables sometimes," Alex said.

"Green leaves are meant for herbivores and last time I checked, I am a carnivore," Serena remarked.

Alex sighed. "I need to talk to you about something," he said.

"If this is about Noah, I made up my mind for the umpteenth time. I am going to marry him no matter what. Whether you like it or not. If you try to use your power to make him disappear, I will disappear too," she said. Her voice was firm indicating how serious she was.

"Don't threaten me, child, remember who you are talking to!" Alex roared.

"Daddy, please. I have my reasons so please trust me on this," Serena changed her tune instantly and looked at him with pleading eyes.

Alex's eyes softened. "Fine. I've done my part in convincing him. The rest is up to you," he said.

Serena jumped up and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you," she said cheerfully.

"And eat some real food for fuck's sake!" he said irritably.

Alex didn't know what exactly was happening with Serena to make this crazy decision but he knew one thing. His daughter wasn't stupid. Nor she was someone who would fall head over in love with someone. If she wanted Noah, it wasn't because of love.

You better be prepared, Noah. Even I can't protect you from that crazy girl, Alex thought to himself and smiled.

But he couldn't worry about his daughter's shady business today. He had a problem of his own. A missing person, someone who was very dangerous and extremely valuable. He needed him back, dead or alive.

Ares...

He was someone he never messed with because there was no bad blood between them. They were more like frenemies. There have been times Alex wanted to end Ares simply because he was his equal. And Alexander Wolf rather have all the power. But even then, they stayed out of each other's way.

Until now. Ares possessed something very important to him. And he needed it back. He could've gotten it earlier but he vanished alongside his girl who was rumored to be pregnant ages ago. Alex chuckled at the thought of Ares being someone's father. That poor child probably had to have extensive amounts of therapy just to survive his parenting.

He forced himself to stop thinking about that cold-blooded killer and decided to bring his focus back to Noah Smith. He needed to make sure that kid wouldn't try to get out of this marriage. He picked up the phone and dialed Jon's number.

"Bring Noah Smith to the mansion tonight. He is expected to have dinner with us so we can discuss the wedding," he barked his order at Jon.

"Well hello to you too, Alex," Jon laughed at the other line.

"Would it kill you to follow an order without being a smartass?" Alex snapped.

"No, but it might bruise my ego," Jon replied. Alex rolled his eyes. "But yes, majesty, Noah will be delivered to you right away," Jon said.

"That's what I like to hear," Alex chuckled. After tonight's dinner, Noah's fate will be decided. Once and for all.
