CHAPTER 18: THE LONG RUN

I wish the cure we have right now is enough. There are many people who are living here, Hannah said.

Yes! They are many but how sure are we that they are all infected? Adam answered. Come on! Let's save the people inside the opposite room, he added.

They entered the room quietly that night. The zombies were blind during night they can only hear noise or sounds that's why the two decided to enter the room silently and they locked the door to make sure that no one can get outside the room while injecting the cure.

They carefully walk towards the target and inject the cure. After the target experienced seizures, they get back to normal after 5 minutes. In every 5 minutes, 2 zombies get back to normal, the one injected by Hannah and the other one was injected by Adam.

They put the target in a safe area that no one can hear or see them. That's why they successfully injected the cure without encountering problems.

After an hour, they finished to inject 24 bottles of cure. Twenty-four (24) get back to normal that time. Adam and Hannah advised them to go to the experiment room for safety.

Stay here first. Let me go outside to check if we can safely transfer to the Experiment room where the Anderson Family is located, Adam told them so they will not to follow him.

But it is not easy to please all the people inside of the room. They were only two over twenty-four (24) people.

Let us go! We missed our family. We've been here for a decade. We want to find our husband, wife, daughters and sons, our parents! The cured people glared at them and pleaded.

I understand where are you coming from. You've been stuck here for ten (10) years unsure of what's happening now to your family. But please cooperate with us, Hannah tried to convince them.

Then let us go! They appealed. We are not prisoners to locked us here.

The room was covered with an emotional ambiance. But the goal is they have to execute the plan wisely.

Adam, go now and don't forget to lock the door for our safety, Hannah uttered. Let me handle this, she added. Go! She shouted. Now, you people here inside the room witness what Adam will do for you, she told them. They all listened to Hannah and they calm down.

When Adam went outside, he locked the door. Surprisingly, the zombies spread out. Nobody knows how they got outside and spread out in the hallway.

Emerson, Gertrude and Andre saw the trouble Adam is facing. They saw him struggling how he will move the zombies away so the cured people can freely be transferred in the Experiment room.

Ohhh nooo! Adam! Please be careful, Hannah used hand gestures to remind Adam.

Adam saw Hannah reminding him to take care of himself. He tried to run and run. Shout and make some noise so the zombies will follow him. He's still thinking where these zombies came from.

However, the cured people witnessed how Adam is struggling in moving the zombies away from them.

Adam's technique didn't work at this time. The zombies cornered him near the opposite room and bite him. Adam got a lot of wounds because of their bites. After five (5) minutes he had experienced seizures.

What happened to Adam made the cured people alarmed and finally they understand why the two is trying to convince them a while ago and not to go outside for safety.

See. That's what will happen to all of you if you try to escape here, Hannah told them confidently though she wants to cry because of what happened to Adam.

Hey lady! The man is not moving look at him so what will happen to him now? they asked her in a worried tone.

When the zombies spread out again and walked away from Adam's position Hannah decided to convince the cured people again not to go outside the room and they all agreed with her at this time.

I will go outside to help him. I will lock the door but still try to protect the door use all your force, Hannah uttered.

You take care lady. I hope he can easily recover. Good luck to you I hope it's not too late to save him, they wished her luck.

Hannah came out and tried to wake up Adam. But he's not responding. She did everything she can to wake him up. She lends Adam's head to her lap and tapped his face many times just to wake him up.

The Anderson Family witnessed what happened to Adam. Gertrude noticed how much the lady loves the man in her lap. But they can't do nothing to help them. They know that Adam will be fine because of his antibodies.

After five (5) more minutes of losing his consciousness, Adam was awakened.

The cured people were amazed that Adam didn't got infected. When they had a chance to enter in the Experiment room, they moved fast and grabbed the opportunity to enter there safely.

Adam is still weak, he can't stand. Hannah held his face and said how are you feeling right now? You looked so weak. Sorry but I can't carry you the way you carried me; Hannah told him. What I can do for you is to help you get up before the zombies will come back here, she added.

Hannah lends her arm to Adam's shoulder and support his back so he can walk and move towards the experiment room.

They observe how the zombies move so the cured people can be transferred in the Experiment room.

Fortunately, Adam and Hannah entered the Experiment room. The cured people saw how the two helped each other to successfully enter the room.

Gertrude offered them to sit back and relax. The two followed her advice. 

But they asked Andre, "How many total bottles did you prepare?"

That's only 100 bottles, Andre replied.

If we have used 24 bottles, we only have 76 bottles. I don't think it's enough for the zombies inside the biggest room here in the lab, Adam explained.

This is what are we going to do Hannah. I will be spying the zombies out there. You will guide the cured people to get outside and move to the experiment room, Adam told her with wit.

They did everything according to plan. Hannah guided the cured people and finally they entered the experiment room safely.

Huhh… huhhhh huuuhhhh! Adam supports his knees using his hands and gasped after entering the experiment room. I locked them in a room. When I count them one by one, they were twenty-six (26). I went to the biggest room and I counted them too. They were fifty (50) in number Adam discussed while panting.
