CHAPTER 11 : THE LAB'S SECRET

The three listened to what the old man is saying, they hide on a tree so they can continue listening. Adam accidentally uttered, "Ouch!" when the ants from the tree bite him. The old man heard that noise coming from the tree near him.

Is anybody here? If you are brave, come and don't hide there, he shouted. Are you stalking me?

His son came out and asked, "Dad, is that where your lab located?"

Yes son! But now, it is not mine. My lab became their shelter since the day they existed and I can't get inside because it was full of zombies until now. If I enter there, I will be one of them and soon will die because of other people, they will surely kill me if I attacked them, he exclaimed.

Hannah and Adam came out and replied, "Don't worry grandpa, we are not bad as what you think of us."

All we want is to find the cure. And that's what we all need to stop this crazy thing, to stop zombies invading your town. You want them out right? We want to help you find the answers to our questions, Adam offered.

Things make easier when there are a lot of people helping each other. But that will happen only if you will allow us to help you. We can't do nothing if you don't want us stay with you in finding the cure, Hannah uttered trying to convince the old man.

Dad! Please let them help us find the cure, he pleased. But how can we get inside the lab? Andre asked his dad in a curious tone in his voice.

We can go inside the lab if one of us has strong antibodies to fight for the virus caused by a zombie bite, the old man explained. But... he cut his words. If no one has this antibodies I don't know how we can get there, he continued.

Hannah and Adam looked at each other's eye.

Please excuse us for a while. We just have to talk about something important, Adam politely excused themselves.

They walked away from the two and talk about what happened to Adam the last time he was bitten by a zombie when they were in the abandoned train.

I think we should tell them what happened to you when you got a zombie bite, Hannah suggested. What do you think? She asked for Adam's opinion.

I think that's a good idea! We can easily convince the old man if we will tell him the truth behind the mysterious healing power of my body, Adam replied. I am very much excited to help each person who wants to get back to their normal life, he added.

If the old man is a real scientist, he can tell us the reasons behind your healing wounds coming from a zombie bite.

They told them what happened when Adam was bitten by a zombie accidentally when they were in the abandoned train.

I know this is weird but I saw Adam's wound faded as time goes by. And after an hour the wound disappeared, Hannah said.

Perfect! The old man tapped Adam's shoulder. He's the one I am looking for.

What do you mean? Adam asked him curiously.

If that's what happened to you, then you have antibodies which can fight for the virus flowing in everyone's veins, he excitedly replied. Thank God, you gave me the person I'm looking for, he praised the Lord.

But I am still wondering why you tried to kill us? Hannah asked the old man.

What? I tried to kill you? Well, I think we don't understand each other. I thought you're bad persons just like the families we met before my wife became a zombie. They tried to kill my wife using a gun, he explained. But when I witnessed how strong your friendship was. I attacked you that night to get your blood samples but you defended each other and tried to hurt. What I've done is just for self-defense.

I used ax to hurt you and get your bloods from your wounds. I had sling bag if you noticed. I had here test tubes for blood samples. I am not a killer! He showed them what's inside his bag to prove that he's telling the truth. I'm just a scientist and I'm not a killer, he discussed.

I thought you are ..... the three stopped. They were all shocked that they judged the old man. They saw the test tubes of different blood samples.

Dad? I'm sorry! Please forgive me for being a fool son. I have judged you, his son asked for forgiveness.

The old man uttered, See how desperate scientists are just to get the cure in every disease? We are not doing it just for ourselves. We really want to get the cure for everyone's sake. That's our job.

Hahahahahaha! They all laugh out loud and forgive each other.

Now that we are here near the lab, what are we waiting for? Let's go  inside, the old man said.

Some parts of my lab were occupied by zombies but I am sure that no one will get inside with one of my favorite part there, the old man said.

But I have a big problem, I forgot the password, he scratched his head.

Ohhhh nooo! The three reacted. How can we get there now? They asked the old man with a question mark in their minds.

If I'm not mistaken I put some clues near the door just in case I forgot my password.

The lab was huge. I'm sure the zombies were walking freely in every path of the lab near the said area. I know something will happen in the future so I secured my equipments and apparatus inside that room. But everything goes unexpectedly, I thought what will happen is just a war or something else but not this kind of epidemic. When people from other countries found out this scary situations we are experiencing, they decided to close their areas from accepting people coming from our town. I understand them because I know they are just protecting their towns from zombies.

They thought they can enter safely but..........
