Chapter 2: First Taste

There was only silence in the room, the young child is in the corner just sitting and reading a book given to her by the maid. At her age,  since she has nothing to do, she help her self to learn things which helps her to understand the situation she's in. She smart at her age of 2. Books has been her comfort, specially when her parent pays no attention to her. 

And specially when she knew her parents wanted to kill her. 

Mamo as everyone calls her hissed as she feels her left eye stings and burning. Her left eye is not develop and it looks like something sharp hit it. She try to twitch the muscles around it to ease the pain but it continues to hurt.

"Ahh... Hurts... What... Mand." She struggle to say and drag her self to go to the door to call for help. 

She was nearing the door when it suddenly burst open. Mamo looked up to see who came in, only to see a lady in white clothing.

"Who?" She asked still struggling because of the pain she is feeling. She reached out for her left eye to put on pressure on it as if it will take the pain away but it only get worst.

The lady sweetly smile at her and sit down on the edge oh her bed before opening her mouth to speak. "Who am I, you ask?" The lady has a sweet voice too. 

"I'm Talia, your new nurse. Your father, Mr. Thorne hired me to take care of you." She said before crouching beside Mamo. "Are you hurt somewhere, my dear?" She ask, her tone change from sweet to being spiteful. She looks like someone to enjoy while looking at others being hurt. 

"Help." Mamo tried to reach for Talia's hand seeking for support. Talia hold her hand softly and caress her little hand. 

"It's okay, little monster. Just bear it for a while. It'll be gone later. You won't be hurt anymore. I promise." She whispered while looking intently at Mamo's face but disgust is evident in her face. "You really is a disgrace to the master. Look at you. Such a monster." She grip Mamo's face with force which makes Mamo writhe in pain.

"Aghh..no, p-please." Mamo's little hand tried to get her hand off her but she can't. She so little and in pain. She can't do anything to make Talia stop. It will only give her more pain than she already feel. 

"Oh well. It is still my first day today. I'll let you live for a while. I don't want anyone to suspect." She move her hand away from Mamo to stand. She holds Mamo's hand and drag her up to her bed. 

"Now be a good monster and sleep." Talia said, back with her sweet and caring voice. She carefully tuck Mamo in her bed and because of so much pain Mamo fell asleep. 

Talia on the other hand slowly walk around her room. 

"It'll be so easy to kill this monster. I'll just enjoy myself first for a while." She said to her self as she laugh. What'll be like to kill a monster? She can't wait to see the poor girl. Talia walk out of the room and smile to her self.

Mamo is still writhing in pain even in her sleep. After just a few minutes her eyes flew open and she abruptly stands and run to the bathroom. She looks for a towel and wet it a little before softly tap it on her left eye. 

The cool feeling of the wet towel ease the pain a little. Mamo sigh before sliding down to sit on the floor. This is the first time something hurts in her body specially on her face which is so disfigured. 

Her face looks burned and still wet. You can actually see the flesh from the inside. No one would really bother to look at. Even if they would they'll end up disgusted. 

Mamo sighed at herself and stands up, throw the towel on the floor before going back to her bed. The pain is still there but it is bearable. She lay down, close her eye and sighed again.  She reached hand up and touch her face. 

This face, even herself can't stand her. She always see her mother's disgusted face every time she looked at her. Mamo would know no one want her. 

She would want to kill herself too. 

Mamo open her eyes as she felt someone is harshly hitting her hand. 

"Wake up, little monster. Eat." She saw Talia on her side clearly annoyed at her. "Get up there and eat, freak!" She hissed. Talia scowl at her before giving her the plate. 

She's actually hurt that she can't see her parents often and she can't eat with them. Someone would always give her food in her room. 

"Eat faster. I don't want to stay her watching you. You disgust me." Talia even rolled her eyes at the young child. Mamo just nod her head and starts to eat. 

Mamo place the plate on the bed after eating. She heard Talia sighed so she looked at the lady. 

"Hold out your hand." Talia said and she does what she was told. Talia firmly hold her little hand, tap her viens twice before injecting her something. 

"What?" She asked the lady. Talia just raised her eyebrow at her before smile sweetly and tap her head a little harder.

"It's just part of your medication. It'll help you sleep better. It'll make your pain go away." Talia whispered the last part a little creepier that makes Mamo nods. 

"Thank you." Mamo breath and smile at Talia. She move to the center of her bed when Talia smile back. Talia pick up the plate and walk out of her room while laughing. 

"Sweet dreams, monster." She heard Talia said before closing the door, smiling sweetly at her. Mamo nods and sighed. 

She move to reach her book to read. She is not sleepy yet. She just woke up and eat.

Mamo glance at the clock at the bedside table only to see it is already past twelve. She close the book and put it away, hiding it under her bed making sure no one will see it. She turned off the lights and is about to lay down when she felt her nose bridge is wet. She reach out to wipe it out but the liquid keeps on sliding down. She turned on the lights again and saw a bright red on her hand. 

She hurriedly wipe her nose with her shirt but the bleeding won't stop and her head is aching like it was being split into two. She's starting to shake and her vision becomes blurry. 

"H-hel...me." she whispered. Tried to crawl down her bed to ask for help. A loud thud echoed the room and she felt a shap pain piercing her small and frail body. 

Mamo felt dizzy and nauseous. She can fell the little life slowly slipping away from her. She can see darkness eating her. She hold out her hand trying to grab something but she can't get it.

Her life's gone.
