KIISHA

The tall, trim and very fashion conscious lady walked into the laboratory, our chemistry teacher who was popularly called 'fashionista' by us was dressed in a yellow Grecian gown that toned her smile and light make-up.

We all stood up to greet her as she responded with a reverent smile.

"Now, I've made arrangements for your partners in my practical class, you'll have to do everything together as partners, it'll determine your grade."

"Ok, ma," we all chorused as she brought out her book to read out the names.

"Aminat and Joshua, Kiiti and Quadri,  Kiisha and Jared..?"

Wait, what did I just hear? It's impossible.

Why would I be paired with that dimwit.

Annoyance swung my gaze up to that oaf, he didn't smirk this time but rather dashed me a cool and charming smile.

Did that scumbag just smile at me? I eyed him menacingly before turning to Miss Owen.

"Now, it's time for you guys to sit with your partners."

What? So soon. Gosh! How will I cope with that goat? Why did we have to be partnered? What ill-luck!

"Hi cutie," a nice voice which I recognized as Jared's greeted. When did he get here?

I turned to him and scowled.

"What did you just call me?" I asked belligerently.

His lips curved into an amused smile. What's wrong with this guy and his smile?

"Cutie, you're so cute when you glare," he said still with that his signature smile.

"You're crazy."

"About you"

I turned to him exasperatedly and shook my head before fuming, "I thought you were only foolish but now I realise you've gone nuts, you need to see a psychiatrist soon before you turn into something else, you skunk!"

He didn't say anything but rather widened his smile and that act was provoked me the more.

"We'll be dealing with qualitative analysis, by the end of this class, your class captain should come and collect the manual and distribute it to you," Miss Owen said.

"So what's our study plan?" Jared whispered as his breath fanned the hair on my neck.

"We'll talk about it later," I answered and turned to Miss Owen who was now introducing us to qualitative analysis.

*************************

Opening my locker, a note fell to the ground and I wondered what it contained. Picking it up, I opened it gently but before I could read an alphabet from it, Kiiti's voice came up.

"You'll be late."

I returned the note and picked out my music note before following Kiiti and Aminat as we walked to the studio.

Only few students were present when we got there though we weren't that much in music class so far it wasn't a compulsory subject, only those interested in music offered it.

"Are you a piano? Because you're just my type," a voice, no, Jared's voice whispered immediately I sat on the pianoforte.

What's with this one and whispers?

"Are you stalking me?"

He wagged his index finger and smiled.

"No, I'm taking this class too."

Oh no! This guy can't be wherever I am.

"Then why are you here at the pianoforte?"

Another smile crept up his face and his face dimpled.

"Wow," I muttered.

"What did you say?"

I looked away from him quickly before replying, "Nothing"

"Well, I love the piano, that's why I'm here, I was the piano king in ROL."

I turned to him and pouted, "Arrogant much."

He chuckled before talking, "I'm not arrogant unlike some people."

"Who ooo?"

He threw out his hand in the air and smiled again and his dimples deepened.

It was such a beautiful sight.

"I didn't mention anyone oo, guilty con con."

That made me chuckle.

"Wait, did you just chuckle?"

Ehn, when did I do that?

I pointed at myself and queried, "Me?"

He nodded gently.

"Yeah, it was really pretty, you need to learn how to smile, it's a lady's charm." That made me chortle merrily.

"Wow," he commented and I frowned instantly.

"Don't frown again jare, you're prettier when you smile."

I eyed him and picked up my music note prepared to leave.

"Why do you hate me?" he asked as soon as I stood up.

I turned to him and noticed his sour expression. How did his face change instantly?

"I don't hate you," I assured with a brief smile. I returned the book to where I'd picked it from and sat down.

"Then can we be friends?"

I pushed out my mouth and nodded.

"Well, considering the fact that we are partners and that we'll be study mates soon, then I think we can consider that as semi- friendship."

He laughed heartily and I wondered if he had gone senile, but his laugh was captivating and contagious, I didn't know when I joined him until the whole class gave us a weird look and we stopped abruptly.

"I can't believe you just laughed with me," Jared said and I eyed him playfully.

"That doesn't stop the fact that we are still enemies oo."

He smiled faintly before asserting, "I know."

The teacher walked into the class and we all kept mute.

"How are you?" she questioned.

"Fine, ma," we responded before she sighted Jared and she ordered him to introduce himself, after his introduction, she turned to Kiiti who did the same.

**************************

"Awwwwnn," Kiishi cooed as she read the letter with me, the letter was the paper that fell out of my locker in class earlier.

"What's that?" Kiiti asked as she got out of the bathroom.

"A love letter," Kiishi replied and Kiiti walked up to us in amusement considering the fact that she didn't even change out of her towel.

"It's from who?" she asked as she sat beside Kiishi who pointed the paper at her, she didn't waste anytime to collect it and read through it.

"So sweet," she commented as she returned the paper to me.

"Who is Uche?" she asked.

"He's a guy in my class and is one of those proud peacocks," Kiishi explained and I scoffed.

"What arrant nonsense! He has chest ooo," I said angrily as I squeezed the paper.

"Ahn, why?" Kiiti asked in confusion.

"He's such a prick, me and that dunderhead, God forbid," I snapped my fingers over my head before continuing, "Me to that ugly sin, ah, I've suffered oo."

"Is he that bad?" Kiiti asked as she looked from Kiishi to me.

I laughed without humour.

"Thought I'd die laughing, that one with brain filled only with maggots. I'll surely teach him the lesson he deserves."

"Don't tell me you'll disgrace him publicly?" Kiishi asked with a warning look.

"Just wait and see."

TEENS ON POINT   Chapter fifty seven

KIISHA Soon, school resumed and the preparation for our exams started fully. The school grew quiet and every SS3 classes were silent as a graveyard which left me wondering if our classes could be that quiet. It was the last day for the interswitchSPAK competition, the one that would determine the winner and the best science student in Nigeria, the fact that it would be held on Saturday, as always, our school made us leave for Lagos on Friday evening. "This is our last chance, I hope you guys would make us proud," Our teacher said when the driver started the car.

TEENS ON POINT   Chapter fifty six

KIISHA Our house had been bubbly since we woke up this morning because it was our D-Day, our birthday. Our aunt, Suzanne and one of her apprentice were the one doing our make-up, she'd just gotten through with Kiiti and Kiishi's own while she was almost done with mine and those ones decided to go downstairs at least to feed their eyes though the party would be starting soon. While I kept on thinking on why Jared would miss such a gracious day, though I'd tried to push the thought to the back of my mind but it still kept coming back which in turn made me think about it throughout the make-up. "Now, you look beautiful," Aunt Suzanne complimented and that snapped me out my thoughts, as she finished the make-up and told me to take a look at myself in the mirror.

TEENS ON POINT   Chapter fifty eight

KIISHA The opening of the door revealed the entrance of Aunt Suzanne and her apprentice, apparently she'd finished Kiishi and Kiiti's make up meaning it was my turn. "Are you ready?" she questioned with a smile. "Yeah," I replied and got up from my bed, straightened my red sweetheart off shoulder gown, the one Mom's fashion designer had brought the day before. Red was the colour we'd all chosen for our Valedictory service. I sat on my dressing stool and turned to the mirror before Aunt Suzanne started the make up. Minutes later, Kiiti and Kiishi barged into the room, they were looking stunning in their gown and the make up was so perfect.

KIISHA "The driver is here," Kiiti announced as she got out of the bathroom. "Okay then," Kiishi stood up as she placed the novel she'd been reading in her bag. We left the room and the hotel minutes later as Kiiti led us to the park, it wasn't long before we sighted the black G-Wagon.
