The Spirit House

After all the staff finished introducing themselves, Tian Tian stood up and spoke, "I, Tian Tian will be your boss till the next boss is ready to take over the position. Let us work together and fulfill the wishes of most of them."

All the staff had returned to work while, Assistant Zhang was giving Tian Tian a tour of the important places in the hotel.

Taking her to the garden he pointed towards a single source of light and said, "This Flambeau has been lighted here since the Spirit house has been set up. After each owner takes up their responsibility, the flambeau also changes its light. It represents the soul and health of the owner. It is most important for this flambeau to be burning with utmost brightness. The brightness of the flambeau is the representation of the owner's fulfilled soul. An owner with an unfulfilled soul is not worthy of becoming an owner of a spirit house."

"I have heard from my grandmother about this spirit house and the importance of the flambeau, but I am wondering what will happen if the unfulfilled soul becomes the owner?" She asked with curiosity.

"If that happens, the brightness of the flambeau will start decreasing, slowly this room will turn dark, then the hotel is transferred to another descendant, if there is no descendant, it will be transferred to the closest family member. The unfulfilled soul is then..." Assistant Zhang bowed his head down and stopped speaking.

The sudden silence of assistant Zhang intrigued Tian Tian, "Then? What happens assistant Zhang?"

"The unfulfilled soul is then, frozen along with all of her descendants except the one who has inherited. They will be frozen for 10,000 years." Answered Assistant Zhang.

"Ohh!" Saying she went to other places following Assistant Zhang.

Passing a couple of files to Tian Tian assistant Zhang spoke, "Boss, this is the file which shows the status and the wishes of the people living in the spirit house. The second file shows the stock and financial status of the spirit house. The previous boss had already fulfilled the wishes of all the people currently staying in the spirit house so you could get little time to understand everything."

Nodding Tian Tian took the files and said, "Okay, I will go through the cases. You can go now."

Bowing to her he left, leaving her alone in the office.

After Assistant Zhang left, Tian Tian got up from the chair and started looking at all the pictures on the wall. Touching an empty frame, she thought, 'One day I will also have my picture over here like you old-grandmother, I will do my work well and never let you down.'

Taking a deep breath, she started going through the files of current guests and began reading the wishes they hoped for and the wishes which were granted.

Hours passed by and without knowing Tian Tian had already spent more than 9 hours reading the cases when she was interrupted by Assistant Zhang.

"Boss, it's late, you should go home." said assistant Zhang.

Raising her head from the file she looked at Assistant Zhang and asked, "What time is it? "

"Its 9 PM boss."

"What?" Her eyes widened and she shot up from the chair.

Quickly grabbing her stuff, Tian Tian started running while murmuring, "My goodness, I am dead. I am seriously dead. I have a test tomorrow and I didn't study. Wuwuwuu. "

Rushing into her flat, she first went to have a warm shower and then had the dinner which was sent by her family.

'Should I study now? But I am sleepy as well!'

Thought Tian Tian while going through her books and looking around the topics for the test.

Thinking for the next five minutes, she suddenly closed the book sharply and got up while murmuring, "Anyway, nothing is going to change even if I study. Let's sleep."

On the other side,

In the Gu family,

Father Gu handed a ring with a gun to Gu Shen. Gu Shen is the youngest son of the Gu family while Gu Yihan is the older son with Gu Weiwei being the only daughter of the Gu family.

Inside the room, father Gu was sitting on the chair while both Gu Shen and Gu Yihan were standing.

"It has been a tradition that our family will help the deities to maintain peace in the living world. The spirit house has already changed its owner. Even though both the families deal with different types of spirits, a balance between power is supposed to be maintained. It is mandatory for our family to change the owner of the ring every time the spirit house changes the owner even if the old owner is not ready to drop his responsibilities. I wish I could have got more time to train you both... Nevertheless, I am sure that both of you are already big enough to handle your responsibilities.”

Taking a short pause, Father Gu looked at both of his sons before adding, “Today, with the guidance of deities it has been decided that the next owner of the ring will be Gu Shen. Gu Yihan, you will be helping Gu Shen in his responsibilities. One can manage the south while the other can manage the north. I would prefer Gu Shen working in the north, as our power there has been unstable lately. While Gu Yihan can join forces in the South."

"Yes father." Said Gu Yihan while patting his younger brother's shoulders cheering him up.

Kneeling down before his father, Gu Shen spoke, "I, Gu Shen, the heir of Dark Inn, will fulfill all the responsibilities and maintain the peace in the living realm."

Taking the oath, Gu Shen wore the ring in his left hand's index finger.

Smiling Father Gu got up and was about to dismiss both of his sons when he remembered that he forgot to mention something important, "Both of you, especially Gu Shen, should always remember that the spirit owner, though weaker than us, but they can still defeat us. If ever the chance arises, you both should make sure to avoid any type of battle between both. A King and Queen should stay in harmony, but it is always better to stay unknown rather than a battle."

Confused on his father's statement, Gu Shen asked, "Isn't it said that they are weaker than us. And we can weaken them if they interfere in our realm."
