"How can a person say when he was hit by cupid?"

As soon as Garvie steps out of the car, a girl lying on the ground slowly sinks what is happening before slowly standing up. Garvie on the other hand who feels guilty about what happened to the woman, makes him run through her and stretches his hand for her.

"Here—" instead of accepting the offer, Samantha rejects the offer by slapping his hand away. It is not painful, but enough to move his hand away as a sign of rejection.

"No thank you. I'm fine." She said in an angry tone, looking at her clothes. "F*ck." She mumbles to herself but enough for him to hear.

"Miss, I'm truly sorry—"

"Look what you've done with my clothes! It had gone dirty the moment you ruin my moment!"

"Well..." he paused, realizing that it got dirty. "Here... take this. Buy another one—" he was once again cut off when Samantha scoffs, not believing what he just did. Garvie on the other hand is very curious.

"Is this how you deal with things? Always pay all of those 'sorry' with money!? Just so you know?" She paused as she slaps the hand away once again, making him almost drop his money off.

"Wha— Excuse me?" He asks, not wanting what she just said. Samantha decided to carry her bags that have been lying on the grass and about to walk away when Garvie didn't let her. Instead, he stood in her way making her stop.

"You've caused me enough mess so why don't you let me walk on and pretend nothing happen, no? Because that's what you rich kids do."

"Excuse me miss. I don't know you and you don't know me as well. First, you stand on the car passage and when we caught your attention, you blame us? I came out to check on you and just wanted to say that I'm sorry but you didn't even let me finish, just blabbing your mouth as you know me! I thought buying your new beanies might help and you rejected! Handling you the money is not about paying for my sorry because I'm not some kind of kids who spend a lot of money just to pay my mistakes... Oh wait, it wasn't even my fault in the first place. If it weren't for you daydreaming on the road and, you might've been aware that you're standing in the middle of the f*cking road so don't f*cking lecture me about money because YOU DON'T KNOW ME!" Garvie was surprised at what he said, not cutting every sentence. The woman in front of her stood silent, trying to sink all of it.

"I'm... I'm sorry." She said, looking down on her feet. Garvie looks at her and soon felt shyness and at the same time, guilt of telling her about it.

"I'm sorry too." He said, making her nod. Samantha didn't say another word, walking past him without looking at him in the eyes. Garvie felt his heart thumping so fast, not feeling so comfortable about what happened. Instead of chasing her, he just clenches his fist, closing his eyes for a bit, controlling his breathing for five seconds before heading back to the car.

"Sir, I mean Garvie, is the woman okay? She seemed fine now?"

"Yes, she is."

"Then, should we ask her to come to ride with us?"

He sighs, shaking his head for a no. George wanted to ask what happened but decided to keep it to himself after seeing him looking down at his phone and not looking out of the window.

Something has happened.

Instead of thinking the right question to ask, he decided to shut up and continue driving, passing his car from the woman who walks in a different direction.

                                                              •••

Samantha couldn't get him off of her head. As if his voice is like a long-playing record in her head. His words somewhat made her feel bad for judging him, and that she needed to say she's sorry.

But where can I find him? I don't know his name, his year, or even his room! All I know is his face and that voice that I think it'll stay here in my head for the meantime now.

She released a long sigh of frustration as she decided to stand there, waiting for her room number. Yes, she will be staying in their dorms because it would complicate the most obvious problem if she'll not.

"Here it is. Door 6th on the left-wing. Just take this path and when you'll see an intersection, go left." She said as accurately as possible, but that still made her a bit confused.

"Which left? The left ill be facing?" She asks, making the woman smile.

"Don't worry. The left-wing has been colored with light pink paint while the right is a light yellow paint."

"Thank you." She said, carrying her bag and guitar before heading to her room number. As soon as she reached the intersection, she instantly saw the painted walls, making her go to the wing she's assigned to.

And to avoid getting lost, each enrollee who gets a dorm for themselves had been personalized by the school before the new school year could come. Each door has an empty wall beside it and that's where they placed the personalized names. When she reached her door, she read the names beside it.

Samantha and Emilia

She placed her bag down for a second before swiping her key card, opening a room that she can consider enough "spacious" for the both of them. "This is even more spacious than my room at home." She said to herself, getting jealous of how pretty the room she's going to sleep for her college compared to her own space way back home. But instead of prolonging her jealousy and the pain from walking, she decided to enter the room.

Silence fills the empty light-blue room. The bed on both sides are still empty, making her realize that her roommate must have not yet arrived. She closed the door behind her as she let herself fall into the soft comfortable bed. She always chooses right.

She sighs as she stares at the ceiling with mint green flowers painted on it. Even just by that far, she could already sense the tranquility of the room. She cannot see any pressure on those walls, unlike her room at her own place. In wherever angle she turns, there will be always something that triggers sadness, anxiety, pressure, pain. Maybe she's not yet used to her new environment? Because if that's the case, she knew she'll feel those same feelings again that her own home made her feel.

Sadness.

On the other hand was Garvie who stares at his room's ceiling, only to see the pair of eyes that felt like talking to him.

her eyes.

"Hey man!" He stares at the man standing by the door. "You must be Garvie?"

"Yes, I am." He said as he stands up, greeting the guy with a handshake.

"I'm Jayvee."

"Nice to meet you."

"Yeah, you too... So I guess the left bed is the only left of a choice." He said as they both chuckle.

"Yeah... A bit of an advantage of mine because I always choose the right side."

"Yeah, me too. But you know what? Maybe this is the price of getting late."

"Yes, it is."

"So, I'll leave you to fixing you stuff then so we could chat after?" He suggested, making Jayvee nod.

"Yeah, I like the sound of that... Or maybe we could attend a mini-concert later?"

"Where?"

"At the theatre room. They told me that the University Band will perform? I guess we could start hanging out by going there."

"I like the sound of that... So..."

"Yeah. Sure."

There was silence once again. A soon as Garvie decided to lie down once again, his eyes landed on his notebook on the bedside table. Each of them has a table, that is why it is more comfortable for them.

The same notebook with the 15th page still a blank. And just by thinking of it, he knew he had to write something. So, without a doubt a single second, he sits as he opens his notebook and held his pen on his left hand, as he looks out of the window, remembering the pair of eyes that he had to stare earlier. And with that, he started writing.

Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too.
