Chapter 4 Apologize To This Gentleman

“Mr. Milton, why…why are you here?”

William was startled to see an angry Percy Milton at the door and stood up quickly.

“Is Universal International yours? Why can’t I be here?” Percy glared at William, his face ominous.

“No, no, no. Mr. Milton, I didn’t mean that. Please believe me...” William turned pale with fright. He did not understand why the chairman was so angry.

“What do you mean then? This gentleman is here to apply for a job, right? How’s your attitude just now?” Percy chastised William sternly before approaching Tyler.

Young Master Tyler Zand was standing right before him!

Goodness gracious. Was the young master trying to experience the life of a commoner? His attire was too ordinary…

Percy secretly marveled.

“I’m sorry for my attitude just now, Mr. Milton.” William wiped his cold sweat, fearful of making another mistake.

Percy wished he could give William a beating. This idiot. Was he trying to get him into trouble?!

If the young master got angry, even he had to pack up his bags and leave!

Seeing Tyler’s indifferent expression, Percy relaxed a little.

Percy wanted to bow and greet the young master, but Butler Quaid instructed that the young master did not wish to be disturbed, so his identity must not be revealed.

“Sir, my subordinates are incompetent. Please don’t take it to heart,” Percy smiled in a simpering manner, bending over as he explained to Tyler.

Everyone was dumbfounded.

Who was Percy Milton?

That was the chairman of Universal International, and he actually bowed and greeted Tyler…

Even Tyler was caught by surprise. He did not know why Percy treated him in such a manner.

At Tyler’s silence, Percy panicked.

“You, come here and apologize to this gentleman!” Percy pointed to William and shouted.

What?

Apologize to that person?

William was reluctant. He was a manager after all, a person of status. How could he apologize to such a person?

“Mr. Milton, is this really necessary?” William said nervously.

“What nonsense! If you don’t want to continue being a manager, just say the word!” Percy was furious.

William immediately backed down and walked in front of Tyler.

“Sir, I’m sorry for my behavior just now.”

Tyler could not be bothered with William. He turned his eyes on Percy instead, trying to figure out his intentions.

Percy’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Tyler looking at him.

It seemed that the young master was not pleased with that apology!

Young Master was looking at him. What did that mean?

Understood! The young master was waiting for his next action!

“William Jones, you’re fired.” Percy waved at William in a gesture for him to get out.

William almost fell on the ground, completely flabbergasted.

The employee benefits at Universal International were the best in the city. Losing this job was a huge blow to William.

Percy was a man of his words and William knew that it was useless to beg for another chance.

William cursed Philip secretly for making him lose his job. With a heart full of regrets, he left the office.

Philip Kingsley was also dumbfounded. He planned to humiliate Tyler in front of Ramona and Susan, but Tyler got the upper hand and William was in trouble instead.

“Uncle Milton, is it really necessary to William over such a trivial matter?” Philip was calm on the surface but doubtful inside.

Even his father would not be too confident in front of Percy Milton, much less him.

“Philip Kingsley, do I need you to teach me how to do things?” Percy sneered without even looking at Philip.

“I…” Philip was admonished, but he dared not be presumptuous in front of Percy.

“Sir, do you think… Are you satisfied with this outcome?” Percy fawned and asked Tyler respectfully.

“Mm.” Tyler was calm as he hummed his assent.

However, it was undoubtedly a reassurance for Percy. Everything was good as long as the young master did not blame him.

On the other side, Susan was in a daze. She simply could not figure out how a distinguished person like Percy Milton could hold her useless son-in-law in such high regard.

Ramona was also astonished; her beautiful eyes fixed on Tyler.

Rosalyn was even more baffled. How could this cowardly brother-in-law of hers enjoy such treatment?

“That’s great, that’s really great. Hehe…” Percy rubbed his big hands together excitedly.

“Sir, what kind of job do you want to apply for?”

At this moment, Yvette Lowe swayed her hips and walked in front of Tyler, asking sweetly.

This woman was very good at seizing the opportunity. She knew Tyler was the epitome of a rich second generation kid. If she could catch Tyler’s eye, she would have struck the jackpot.

“Hehe, cleaning the toilets will do just fine,” Tyler chuckled.

“Just look at you. With your refined looks, you’re more than worthy to become a manager.” Yvette tried her best to seduce Tyler with her eyes, before turning to Percy, “Am I right, Mr. Chairman?”

“Yes, that’s right. It just happened that the position of HR Manager is vacant. Would you like to take up this position temporarily?” Percy asked Tyler tentatively. Right from the start, he assumed that Tyler was just bored and wanted to apply for a job for fun.

“Heavens, a manager?” Susan could not help her excitement, staring at Chairman Milton with disbelief.

Her daughter, Ramona’s position was also at a managerial level only.

Percy misunderstood that reaction, thinking that Susan was unsatisfied, and said quickly, “It’s certainly a waste for this gentleman to be a manager. Should we make it a general manager then?”

“General Manager?!”

This time, Susan and her two daughters exclaimed in unison.

Percy was sweating. The young master did not express his opinion. What was he to do now?

“Or else, I’ll quit my job and this gentleman can take my position instead?” Percy discussed with Susan, a bitter expression on his face.

Susan’s eyes widened and she asked, “Mr. Chairman, did you take the wrong medicine this morning…?”

“Madam, whatever you say.” Percy smiled bitterly.

Susan almost staggered at those words. She started to suspect that Percy was crazy.

“Well, you know such an important chairman! Did you collude with him right from the start to make yourself look good?” Susan turned around and asked Tyler with a sneer.

“Mom, I don’t know him,” Tyler clarified as he shook his head.

“Fine, fine. You’ve even learned how to lie between your teeth. I’ll take care of you when we get home,” Susan snorted.

“Hey, it’s too much to be a chairman. I think a general manager would be more suitable, hehe,” Rosalyn whispered to Tyler mischievously.

“Stop talking nonsense. He’s just joking,” Tyler replied to Rosalyn.

Ramona did not say a word but was full of questions for Tyler.

“Sir, you see…” Percy stood there nervously, sweating in anxiety, waiting for Tyler’s instructions.

Tyler took in his reactions and realization dawned on him.

It was most likely that Percy knew his identity, otherwise things would not turn out this way.

“I’ll go home and think about it,” Tyler said calmly to Percy.

“Great. I’ll be waiting for your answer. This is my business card. Please call me when you need to.” Percy took out a business card and handed it to Tyler respectfully.

“And mine.” Yvette also took out her business card and stuffed it into Tyler’s hands.

“Don’t forget to call me,” Yvette said coyly to Tyler.

“Let’s go home,” Ramona glared at Yvette, dragged Tyler, and walked out.

Percy and Yvette sent them all the way out of the company, watching from a distance.

From the beginning till the end, Percy did not even look at Philip.

Philip was so frustrated and felt humiliated.

He also wondered about Percy’s actions that day. Why was he so respectful toward Tyler?

“Auntie, Ramona, get in the car. I’ll drive you back,” Philip forced a smile and said politely.

“It’s okay, we’ll grab a cab,” Ramona replied coldly before reaching out to hail a cab.

“Ramona, if your boss is still causing trouble for you, tell me and I’ll handle it,” Philip said to Ramona.

Ramona acted as if she did not hear him and got into the car with Tyler.

As the cab drove further away, Philip gritted fiercely, “Pah! Sl*t pretending to be cold! I’ll conquer you in no time at all!”

After arriving home, Tyler was stopped by Susan before he could return to his room.

“Tyler, let me ask you… How do you know the chairman of the Universal International?”

“Mom, I really don’t know him.”

“I don’t believe you. If you don’t know him, why did he fire Manager Jones because of you?” Susan stared at Tyler as if she was interrogating a criminal.

“It’s up to you to believe it or not.”

Tyler waved his hands, too tired to explain, and turned back to his room.

“What attitude is this!” Susan stomped her foot in frustration.

“Mom, how can someone like him know the chairman? He’s just protecting the company’s image by firing the manager,” Rosalyn snorted disdainfully.

“What about letting him become the general manager and chairman? How do you explain that?” Susan asked Rosalyn in confusion.

“He’s just being humorous and fooling around with that trash, haha,” Rosalyn chuckled.

“Oh.” Susan nodded as a look of realization flashed across her face.

“Rosie, he’s your brother-in-law after all. Stop calling him trash in the future,” Ramona said to Rosalyn.

“Tsk.” Rosalyn’s face was full of disregard as she laid on the sofa and started playing with her phone.

Ramona sighed softly before she entered the bedroom.

The bedroom was fairly spacious, with a large bed in the center and a narrow bed at the corner.

Tyler was lying on the smaller bed. After being married to Ramona for more than three years, the larger bed was still a forbidden territory for him.

“Tyler, I realized that I don’t understand you more and more,” Ramona said as she stood in front of Tyler.

“What don’t you understand?” Tyler smiled lightly and sat up.

“I could tell that the humility displayed by Percy Milton in front of you was not a pretense because his hands were shaking the whole time!”

“Mr. Milton is a prominent figure in Northbrook City. Why is he so scared of you?”

“Your family background is horrendous and you have no special ability, so why is that so?”

Ramona was puzzled and a barrage of questions poured out of her.

“Mona, it’s been more than three years and this is the first time you’ve spoken so much to me.” Tyler stared at Ramona’s beautiful face.

Ramona was taken aback and a sense of guilt welled up in her.

Indeed, it was rare for her to have such close interaction with the man that she had despised for more than three years.

The woman’s instinct told her that this man liked her very much.

For her though, she had never fulfilled her duties as a wife in the past three years.

“I’ll talk to you more often in the future,” Ramona stared out the window as she said softly.

Tyler could not help being a little touched when he heard those words.

“Mona, I’m actually not poor at all, let alone a waste! Your husband is a rich man. You don’t have to be so self-deprecating because of this…”

“What?” Ramona was stunned.

Very quickly, a trace of exasperation appeared in her eyes.

“Tyler Zand, stop bragging in front of me, okay? This will only make me look down on you even more!”
