Chapter 2 Their Words Don’t Count

Tears welled up in Leonora’s eyes as she felt very aggrieved.

She admitted that she was poor, but did she deserve to be bullied because of that?

“Ty, why are you here?” Leonora forced a smile and approached Tyler.

Tyler felt disgruntled upon looking at his sensible and obedient sister.

He knew his sister was working part-time during the holidays to earn her tuition fees but did not expect her situation to be as such.

“I’m worried about you so I dropped by. I brought your tuition fees too.” Tyler smiled gently at Leonora.

Nadia grew more disdainful towards Tyler upon seeing this.

No wonder he was dressed so shabbily. It turned out that he was Leonora’s brother.

“Our restaurant is a high-end place, not everyone can enter. If you’re not here as a customer, please leave immediately,” said Nadia sarcastically to Tyler.

Tyler glanced at Nadia. “How do you know I’m not a customer?”

“Haha, why don’t you look at yourself in the mirror? You’re dressed like a beggar. Can you afford this place?” Nadia pursed her lips contemptuously and sneered.

He could not afford it?

Tyler was amused. There were too many idiots these days who judged people by their appearances.

“Ty, don’t argue with her. Leave first. I’ll look for you after work.” Leonora was afraid things would get out of hand, so she quickly pushed Tyler outside.

When Tyler saw her anxious look, he did not want to cause further trouble for his sister, so he was prepared to leave and wait for his sister to get off work.

Nadia unexpectedly spoke, “Leonora, you don’t have to wait. You can get off work now.”

Leonora was stunned for a moment. “Miss Penrith, it’s not time for me to knock off yet.”

“You don’t have to wait until then. From now on, you don’t have to work anymore. You’re fired.” Nadia snorted.

Leonora was dumbfounded. It was not easy for her to find a job with school starting in a few days where she could still make some money during this time.

“Aren’t you just a supervisor? What right do you have to fire my sister?” Tyler asked Nadia.

“Moron, do you know who my boyfriend is? If I said your sister is fired, then she won’t be able to work here any longer. Understand?”

Nadia was very proud when she mentioned her boyfriend.

“Babe, what are you arguing about? Who’s that guy?”

At this moment, a middle-aged man with a pot-belly walked over.

This man was dressed in a suit with a fair and clean appearance. He hugged Nadia when he came over.

Nadia immediately became docile and looked at Charles Schuler in admiration. “Charlie, this country bumpkin is Leonora’s brother. Hurry up and fire her already. Seeing her is making me upset.”

“Oh?” Charles narrowed his eyes and looked at Tyler before snorting.

As the manager of the restaurant, Charles had seen many people from all walks of life. As soon as he laid eyes on Tyler’s clothes, he despised him from the bottom of his heart.

“Isn’t Leonora quite studious in her work? Why are you firing her?”

Charles stared at Leonora greedily. He had wanted to take advantage of Leonora but never had the chance.

Nadia was not pleased. “Why so many questions? I don’t like seeing her hovering in front of me.”

Charles was speechless. It was unreasonable to fire Leonora because of this.

Furthermore, he had not gotten Leonora yet. Charles was really reluctant to let her go now.

Nadia became angry at Charles’s silence. “Hmph, are you interested in her? Sure enough, men are all heartless creatures. Out with the old and in with the new!”

“No, no. Haha. Don’t be angry, babe! She’s nothing. I’ll immediately fire her.”

Charles laughed before saying to Leonora, “Go to the finance department and get your final paycheck. You can go home after that.”

“Today’s salary will be deducted. Who told you to go out without working? Hmph.” Nadia gloated.

Leonora lowered her head without a word and was extremely upset.

Tyler stopped her just as she was about to head to the finance department.

“Nora, don’t be sad. Their words don’t count.”

Leonora lifted her head in surprise. She realized her brother was somehow different from before.

As for the difference, she could not tell.

After hearing Tyler, Charles chuckled and said, “If my words don’t count, do your words count then?”

“Haha, this fool is so funny. My Charlie is the Manager and you think his words don’t count?”

Nadia rocked back and forth with laughter, looking at Tyler as if he was an idiot.

“Ty, it’s okay. Leave first. I’ll leave as soon as I’ve collected my final paycheck,” said Leonora softly to Tyler. She felt distressed by seeing Charles and Nadia mocking her brother like this.

“They are the ones who should leave,” said Tyler mildly. He grabbed her arm and refused to let her go any further.

“That’s enough. Get out already. You’re not welcome here.” Charles impatiently waved his hand at Tyler.

Tyler ignored Charles and asked Leonora instead, “Nora, do you have your boss’s number?”

“Yes.” Leonora nodded but did not know what Tyler was going to do.

“Why, do you want to file a complaint to our boss? Let me tell you, it’s useless. Our boss has no time to take care of trash like you,” scoffed Nadia at Tyler.

“Nora, call your boss and tell him to come here now. I want to buy this seafood restaurant,” said Tyler solemnly.

“Huh?” Leonora was dumbfounded, but she still called her boss.

Charles and Nadia were taken aback for a moment, but very quickly started laughing uproariously.

“Haha, another one has gone mad.”

“Charlie, I can’t take it anymore. This fool is so funny.”

Tyler pretended that he could not hear them and brought Leonora to a corner while waiting for the restaurant owner to arrive.

In less than a minute, the boss came downstairs.

“My surname is Sander. May I know if you’re the one who wanted to buy this restaurant?” Mr. Sander politely asked Tyler.

“Mr. Sander, please ignore him. He’s not right in the head.”

“That’s right, Mr. Sander. Just look at that poor appearance of his.”

Charles and Nadia stood to the side with a fawning expression and reminded Mr. Sander.

Mr. Sander was after all an experienced businessman. He did not underestimate Tyler.

“Sir, this restaurant’s business is very good, so I can only sell it to you for at least five million.” Mr. Sander tested the waters with Tyler.

The restaurant was actually only worth three million, but Mr. Sander deliberately raised its price since business was really good.

“That’s fine. You can prepare the contract. Give me an account number and I’ll transfer five million to you now,” said Tyler flatly.

“Okay… Okay, sir!”

Mr. Sander was extremely excited. This person did not even negotiate the price. Five million was most definitely a sky-high price.

He led Tyler into the finance room and five million was very soon paid…

Mr. Sander still felt like he was dreaming upon returning to the main hall again.

This restaurant actually sold for nearly double the price. He had struck it rich!

Looking at Tyler’s shabby appearance, Mr. Sander could not help but lament if all rich people kept such a low profile nowadays?

Charles and Nadia were panicking internally. At first, they thought Tyler was just pretending but never did they expect he was being serious.

They could only blame themselves for being blind to the world and now, they were in big trouble!

“Sir, I’ll pack my things and leave. This restaurant is all yours.” Mr. Sander was very satisfied and shook hands with Tyler warmly before going upstairs to pack up.

“Boss…”

Charles and Nadia trembled uncontrollably and stood in front of Tyler, nearly kneeling before him.

How could they not be nervous? Tyler was their new boss now.

The two people who acted all high and mighty just now were reduced to mice in front of Tyler at this moment.

“Both of you can get lost now.” Tyler smiled coldly while looking at Charles and Nadia.

The two of them looked as if they had been struck by lightning. They never expected matters to turn out this way.

He spent five million to buy this restaurant just to fire them. Were rich people usually so willful…

“Boss, please be merciful. I have a wife and kids at home to support plus a mortgage. I can’t lose this job…” Charles could care less for his face as he knelt before Tyler and pleaded.

“Boss, please let me stay here. I’m willing to do anything for you.” Nadia shook Tyler’s arm while trying to entice him with the beauty trap.

“Sl*t, shut up! How would I make the boss angry if not because of you?”

“Charles Schuler. Who are you calling an sl*t?”

The two of them started fighting each other in the restaurant’s main hall.

Tyler called for security with a frown to escort them away from the grounds.

“Nora, this restaurant is yours from now on. Come and take care of it when you have the time,” said Tyler while tenderly looking at his sister.

Leonora had not recovered from the shock just now and mumbled, “Ty, why do you have so much money?”

“You’ll understand in the future. I have to go now.” Tyler smiled and left.

Waving his hand to hail a cab, Tyler headed home.

He saw a brand new BMW 7-Series parked there as soon as he reached downstairs.

Tyler paid no heed to it but shook his head before going upstairs when he thought of his fierce and domineering Mother-in-Law.

As soon as he entered the house, he saw Susan with all smiles on her face and placed a plate of fruits in front of a young man.

“Philip, have a seat first and chat with me. Ramona will be back from work soon,” Susan greeted Philip Kingsley warmly.

Philip Kingsley, the son of the Kingsley Group from Northbrook City, had just returned from his studies abroad.

He was also one of the most outstanding among Ramona’s many suitors in the past who furiously pursued her since high school but to no avail.

When he returned this time, Philip still could not forget Ramona.

What you could not get was always the best.

He had heard about the matters of Ramona having married a crippled husband.

Apart from jealousy and an unwillingness to concede, he felt that he had the chance to come between them.

“Sure, Aunt Susan. Umm, this is…” Philip was startled from seeing Tyler who just entered the door.

Philip smiled mockingly and despised him from the bottom of his heart upon seeing Tyler wearing such gaudy clothes.

How could a pathetic fool like this deserve to have Ramona?

Tyler did not speak but glanced at Philip calmly before heading to his bedroom.

“Don’t you know how to greet the guest? So uncultured! Oh, why have his movements become so fluid?”

Susan was amazed and wondered how his leg was healed.

“Mom, I’m home.”

The door opened at this moment. A long-legged slender-figured woman with a sweet and attractive appearance walked into the living room.

As soon as this woman stepped into the house, Tyler’s eyes softened as he halted his steps.

After Philip saw this woman, his spirit soared as he graciously stood up with flowers in his hands and approached her.
