Chapter 14 Dicing With Death

Tyler paused for a while and sighed.

He could finally come clean after keeping this to himself for so long. He thought Susan and Ramona must be very happy to know about it.

Unexpectedly, all which Ramona responded with was being stunned for two seconds, followed by disappointment.

“I’ll take leave from the office and bring you to the hospital tomorrow, Tyler,” sighed Ramona.

“Why are we going to the hospital, dear? I’m not sick.”

“To visit a psychiatrist.” Ramona returned to her room.

“Boast! Boast all you want ‘ultra-rich boy’! You better come clean. How long have you been seeing Naomi?” Susan raged.

Tyler was stunned. ‘What?’

“What are you talking about, Mom? I’m not seeing anybody.”

“I knew you won’t admit it. How dare you do such a thing to Ramona… Just wait and see, don’t let me catch you red-handed!” Susan also returned to her room.

Tyler shook his head. He knew it was useless for him to explain himself as Susan would never believe him.

Yvette called just as he was feeling troubled.

“Young Master, the water park project has officially started and the Project Department is established. Would you like to come for a site inspection?”

Tyler had not expected Percy to act so quickly on this and decided to visit the site after giving it some thoughts. “I’ll be there in a moment.” Tyler started driving toward the western suburbs after ending the call.

He noticed that the team had already started pre-construction preparations when he arrived at the site.

There was a temporary shelter built on-site that served as a temporary discussion room for the Project Department. Tyler entered as he saw someone was in the room.

Just as he entered, he immediately noticed a familiar silhouette.

It was an outstanding lady dressed in plainly designed clothes with a slim and exquisite figure. She turned out to be Tyler’s younger sister, Leonora.

Leonora was cleaning windows in the room with a wiping cloth along with a few other cleaners.

“Nora, what are you doing here?” Tyler was surprised to see her doing that as he called out from behind her.

“Brother!” Leonora was happy to see Tyler. “There are no classes today so I came to earn some allowance.”

Tyler was hurt hearing that. Leonora had always been thoughtful and hardworking. Knowing their family was facing financial issues, she would take advantage of her free time to earn an allowance. He felt even more sorry for her as he recalled how Susan insulted her.

“Leonora, you don’t have to earn your own allowance in your free time, I have money now. If you’re bored, you can go and visit the seafood restaurant. Otherwise, go out with your friends when you don’t have classes,” advised Tyler lovingly.

Leonora smiled gently. “I don’t like going out, neither can I manage the seafood restaurant well. This job is good for me, I can exercise a bit.” She paused for a while before realizing something. “Oh right, brother. Why are you suddenly rich? Have you done something illegal?”

“Don’t worry, Nora. My money is clean,” Tyler reassured Leonora.

“What are you doing? Get back to work!” a woman yelled at Leonora as she walked in from outside. It startled Leonora and she quickly resumed cleaning the glass window.

Tyler turned around to find a woman wearing thick makeup in her twenties. He could smell her perfume from miles away.

She was Yasmine Luque, an employee of Universal International. She was tasked to supervise the cleaners.

“Didn’t you hear me? I’m talking to you. How dare you chat during working hours? I can forfeit your pay, you know.” Yasmine angrily charged toward Leonora and pushed her.

Leonora, who was a gentle and introverted lady, was afraid of the fierce Yasmine.

“I’m sorry,” apologized Leonora.

“Hooking up with men around here, Little Fox? I’ll deduct your pay by 20 bucks!” Yasmine glared at her with an icy stare.

Leonora was wrongly accused. On top of that, her daily wage was only 60 bucks. One wrong accusation from Yasmine and she lost 20 bucks from her pay…

Yasmine had been picking on her since morning. Leonora knew that Yasmine was antagonizing her. Little did she know, Yasmine did so because she was jealous of her beauty.

“Watch your mouth, who’s the fox here?” Tyler defended.

Yasmine sized Tyler up and pouted her lips in disgust from the way he dressed like a hillbilly.

“You, where did you come from? This is not a place you should be at.” Yasmine crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

“What is your name and which department are you from?” Tyler asked in all seriousness.

Yasmine glared at Tyler and shouted back, “Who are you to be asking for my name? Scram! Do I have to call for security?”

Tyler was angered but at the same time entertained. She must be an employee of Universal International since she was there to supervise.

Tyler could not tolerate such an employee to stay in Universal International under his watch. Not to mention that she picked on Leonora. That was unforgivable.

“I would like to see your manager.” Tyler did not wish to dawdle with her.

Yasmine laughed at his request. “Hehe, act all you want, poor fag. You think you’re cool here?”

Tyler was speechless from this woman dicing with death. Yasmine pressed further upon looking at the speechless Tyler.

“Quick, send him out. The sight of him is hurting my eyes!” Yasmine then looked at Leonora. “And you, you can leave now. You won’t earn a single cent today!”

Leonora’s heart sank. 60 bucks might not mean anything to Yasmine, but it meant the world to Leonora. This was how she managed to save for her education in the past.

Yasmine had truly gotten on Tyler’s nerve. Not because she despised him, but because she bullied Leonora.

“Hello, I’m here in the room,” Tyler called Yvette.

“Yes, Young Master. I’ll be right there.” Yvette dashed toward the room as soon as she received his call. As clever she was, she could sense the tension in the room the moment she stepped in.

Yvette’s heart skipped a beat upon seeing Tyler’s serious demeanor. She immediately understood what was going on when she saw Yasmine glaring at Tyler.

‘Yasmine, oh Yasmine. You shouldn’t have look down on anyone, regardless if you know the Young Master or not. Now, you’ve picked on the wrong guy…’

“Mr. Zand, how can I be of help here?” Yvette asked carefully.

“I don’t want to see her here.” Tyler pointed at Yasmine.

Yvette turned to Yasmine and instructed, “Yasmine Luque, please tender your resignation at the HR department.”

“What?” Yasmine’s blood ran cold as she pounced from her chair.

“Was the message not clear? Please proceed with your resignation, you don’t have to come back to work,” repeated Yvette.

“Haha, this is funny! Yvette Lowe, don’t think you can play this trick on me as the Chairman’s assistant. You have no rights.” Yasmine smiled icily as she did not take Yvette seriously even though Yvette held a higher position.

Yvette frowned. ‘You dumb b*tch. Young Master wants you to scram and he has all the rights to it.’

“You may take this as a joke, but I’ll consider myself losing this bet if you could still stay another day in Universal International.” Yvette gave up dawdling with her.

Yasmine was obviously unhappy. She sluttily walked toward Tyler and tapped his shoulder. “Very well, hillbilly. So you know Yvette…”

She turned around and looked at Yvette. “Don’t act like you’re my boss. You’re only the Chairman’s assistant because you’re a slut.” Yasmine went all out with her insults and Yvette did not expect this.

Yvette was the Chairman’s assistant. Her position was practically below one and above all the rest. Other than the Chairman, no one could reprimand her, let alone insulting her as such.

“Stop embarrassing yourself and scram, Yasmine Luque!” Yvette could not stand another second with her.

“Haha, it’s funny you feel so at home around here. I’m telling you, Yvette, not even the Chairman can fire me here!” Yasmine crossed her arms.

Tyler was dumbfounded by Yasmine’s pose. Why could Percy not fire her? Who was this b*tch?

“B*tch,” Yvette could not help but scolded.

“Who are you talking to? Don’t think you can boss around here with the Chairman having your back, dumb b*tch!” Yasmine growled and pointed at Yvette’s nose. Nasty...

Slap!

Someone had to stop this b*tch from barking and Yvette did it with a slap on her face.

“Ah! You slapped me!”

“Yes. You and your filthy mouth!” Yvette smirked.

“Just you wait! And you! Just you all wait!” Yasmine’s blood was boiling as she pointed at them both before fleeing from the scene.

“I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Zand. This is my oversight, I shouldn’t have let her angered you,” Yvette put on her charming smile and apologized to Tyler.

Tyler could not deny that she was actually attractive and was indeed a man-eater.

Tyler recollected his composure and replied, “There’s no need to get mad over this.” He then walked toward Leonora.

He was especially hurt by looking at those sweat beads on her forehead. They had bonded over the past ten years and even though they were not biological siblings were really close,.

“Be a dear and listen to me. Focus on your studies and don’t take up jobs anymore. I’ll bring you on a trip when I’m free,” said Tyler as he wiped away the sweats on her forehead.

Leonora was actually stunned. She could tell that Yvette was a high-ranking person around here just from the way she was dressed—classy and fashionable.

However, she could not understand why a person like her was deferential to her brother.

“Don’t worry, Brother. I’m fine,” Leonora reassured him in a soft tone.

“Oh, you’re Mr. Zand’s sister? Oh, dear me…” Yvette panicked. She just realized the Young Master had a sister in Northbrook City.

What she did not know was that Leonora was not the daughter of the Zand family.

“Dear, it was her. She slapped me!” Suddenly, Yasmine dashed in with a fat man while complaining to him and pointing at Yvette at the same time.

The fat man looked fierce with those widened eyes.

He looked at Yvette and almost raged before remembering how pretty Yvette looked. Her pretty face had apparently discounted his anger by half—ah, men.

“Aren’t you a gutsy young lady? You dare to hit my woman?” His name was Sean Stallone and he was sizing Yvette up with those horny eyes of his.

Sean Stallone! Yvette’s heart skipped a beat.

Sean Stallone was a pretty well-known name in Northbrook. He was a famous rogue known for his cruelty. Many were frightened just by the sound of his name.
