Chapter 264 He Treats You Pretty Well

Author: Tea Splasher
When Jade wiped her face in front of the mirror, Gemma smirked as she appeared behind her.

“I suspect that you’ve become a woman while living in the countryside after getting pregnant. Why did you become like this? I don’t feel like getting pregnant after seeing you look like this.” She looked at Jade in contempt.

Jade did not get mad. She blinked, smiled, and said, “You’re passionately in love and got pregnant as well. You look like you're full of joy. You have the time to maintain your beauty while you experience extraordinary happiness. You make me jealous of you.”

Gemma took out her pressed powder and reapplied her makeup, then rolled her eyes at Jade. “It’s fine when other people don’t know it. But it’s meaningless when you know it and still tease me like this.” As she said that, her expression became indifferent. “He doesn’t really want to marry me, but feels that we’re suitable, and I’m pregnant as well. He can solve two major problems in his life without any effort. As long as there were no special circumstances. anyone would be happy to do so.”

Jade turned around, looked at her exquisite side profile, and asked after a while, “And it doesn’t matter to you? Even if he doesn’t love you?”

Gemma’s character was unrestrained and carefree. She firmly believed that she would find the person who was willing to stand with her through thick and thin. A lively person like her could only be matched with the one who loved her the most.

But the reality was cruel. Jade could tell that Gemma was not happy, and she needed to look good to lie to herself.

Gemma’s hand trembled slightly. She applied too much makeup, an unevenness appeared.

“What can I do even if I care? Other than marrying him, do I have other choices?” she asked.

Jade opened her mouth before she closed her lips. Her eyes dimmed a little.

“You want me not to follow in your footsteps, right?” Gemma put away her makeup box and silently looked back at her.

Jade smiled bitterly. “I just hope you won’t be in a dilemma like me.”

“He treats you pretty well.”

He was good, considerate, and cared about her a lot.

If this had happened at any period in the previous three years, she would have woken up with a smile from her dream. It happened only after they divorced…

“He does this for the babies, and his mother also thinks the same.” Jade smiled with self-mocking. “After the babies come out, I’m afraid I’ll lose my value.”

Gemma frowned. “Aren’t you thinking too much? Zephaniah doesn’t perform well in the aspect of loving you, but according to my understanding of him, he would not do such a heartless thing.”

Jade smiled and casually said, “Just treat it as me thinking too much.” She thought of something else then. “If you really want to try it, just marry him. The baby needs a father.”

“Talking about fathers, when are you and him going to resume the marriage? You’re pregnant for five months, and didn’t he mention it at all?”

Jade secretly felt upset. “I’m not in a hurry. I also don’t want to resume the marriage right now.”

Gemma grabbed her arm with a sigh. “Why do women have to suffer like this...”

Jade suddenly remembered something. She took out a list of numbers from her pocket and passed it to Gemma. “Do you have a junior who is skilled in network technology? Can you ask him to help investigate who uses this number?”

Gemma took the note and looked at it curiously. A naughty smile appeared on her lips. “Why? Are you trying to catch Mister Owens’ mistress?”

She just could not be serious, and Jade rolled her eyes at her.

“I wouldn’t bother catching his mistress. Don’t ask. This is about work.”

When the two of them came back, Zephaniah and Mister Briggs were chatting happily. They were even smiling.

Gemma was eloquent. She pretended to be angry and said, “What’s wrong? Are we covering your mouths and not allowing you to talk? When we’re not around, the two of you become so active.”

Mister Briggs pulled her over to sit down, and he gently smiled as he explained, “We’re talking about the business. We’re just scare that you’ll get bored if you listen to us.”

Zephaniah took Jade’s hand to help her slowly sit down. When he saw that the food had become cold, he called a waiter for another batch.

“No need. I’m almost full,” Jade rejected his offer.

Zephaniah did not listen to her and looked aloof. “You ate too little. Mom said you didn’t eat much in the morning either.”

As he said that, he tugged her fringe with water droplets to the back with gentle movements.

Upon seeing Gemma’s strange smile, Jade could not help but cough. She leaned back to avoid him.

But Zephaniah didn’t seem to have not noticed it. He frowned and asked for a dry towel from the waiter, then wiped her hair for her.

The intimate action made her blush, while the two people opposite her pretended to look serious as they ate.

“Don’t touch me. Let me eat.” Jade picked up her chopsticks, lowered her head, and started eating.

Zephaniah smiled. He was happy to see her eating.

Gemma glanced at the man by her side who looked calm and indifferent and sighed.

‘Jade, you should not take it for granted again.’

They had lunch until it was 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Jade felt so full that she felt slightly uncomfortable, so she wanted to go out and walk around.

Gemma put her arms around Mister Briggs’s arm, smiled, and said, “We’re going to the wedding company, so we’ll not go with you.”

Jade hated to see her being hypocritical, so she waved her hand to let them leave quickly.

Only she and Zephaniah were left again. Jade thought it was boring to stay there, so it would be better to go back and walk around the housing area.

But she did not see Gemarya driving over.

“There’s a mall nearby. Let’s go walk around there,” Zephaniah said.

Jade remembered how he had bought her clothes and shoes last time they shopped in the mall, and she hummed discreetly.

Zephaniah took her hand to help her stand up, but he was pulled back by her.

She pointed at the footprint on his trouser leg, passed him a piece of tissue, and said awkwardly, “Wipe it off.”

“Okay.” Zephaniah lowered his head.

Jade had given a strong kick, but he had not even furrowed his eyebrows. He was really good at acting. Jade could not help but pout.

The mall was very spacious. There were not many people in the afternoon, and the shop assistants looked lazy at the entrance.

“That side is the kids zone. We can walk around there.” Zephaniah reminded her.

Jade turned around. The little clothes and shoes in pink color were arranged neatly, and they made people’s hearts soften at the sight of them.

Her mother had not done any sewing before, but she learned from tutorials on the television to make little clothes. But most of her attempts were not successful. After she made a halter neck, she studied it for a long time and thought of how to go about it better.

Jade subconsciously walked over.

When the shop assistant saw a pregnant lady and a man next to her, she immediately became energetic and welcomed them with a smile.

The shop assistant smiled and asked, “Are you about eight months pregnant?”

Jade smiled faintly and shook her head. “Five and a half months. Because they are twins, my belly looks bigger.”

The shop assistant smiled and said in surprise, “You’re so lucky! You’ll have double blessings in the future.” She cast a glance at Zephaniah and blushed. “Both of you look so good. The babies will look gorgeous for sure.”

Although Jade knew the shop assistant was flattering them, she still felt happy when she heard it.

“But I think you’ll feel more tired than the normal pregnant ladies,” the assistant said. “We have some products for pregnant ladies on this side that can reduce the burden on them. You should go and take a look.”

Jade was attracted by the little stuff in front of her, so she did not want to go away, but she was pulled by Zephaniah to look at the products for pregnant ladies.

The shop assistant’s eyes lit up. When she saw that Zephaniah was highly interested, she quickly introduced the products. He then added all of them to the cart.

Jade’s face darkened. He had bought so many things, but she could not use any of them. There were still a few more months left, so they were all useless.

“Don’t buy this.” She took one out of the cart.

Two of them were even interviewed together by the news media, and there were also some gossips reporting that the two of them held hands and went to the maternity stores together. The engagement banquet was scheduled tomorrow. Today, the Weaver family in Imperial City held a cocktail party in advance. An invitation card was delivered to Zephaniah’s office. He was initially not interested in attending the party, but when his fingers rubbed over the cover of the invitation card, he instantly felt interested. The invitation card of Weaver family purposely used the business label of Peak Corporation, as if they were trying to hint something.Jade just finished eating her breakfast. She pushed the chair away and wanted to walk to the bedroom. She saw the caregiver coming out with a newspaper and point

When they went back to South City, it was already evening. The rain had stopped, and the air was filled with slight moisture. The night sky came. Jade was covered with Zephaniah’s coat as she got down the car. On the way back, both of them remained silent, and none of them talked. The caregiver looked around for a long time at the door. After she heard the car engine, she opened the door of the courtyard anxiously. She saw the two of them walking in one after another, and their expressions did not look good.“Sir, Madam, your parents came in the afternoon. They have been waiting for you.” The caregiver closed the door of the courtyard, and she walked past the corridor at the back of them. Before they went into the house, they heard Jade’s mother’s cheerful laughter as she babbled along with the babies. After they went to the living room, they saw Jade’s mother holding Lincoln on the sofa. She raised her hand high, and her eyes were filled with love. Jade’s father sat on the wheel

She saw his ankle being wrapped in white gauze on the hospital bed, and she instantly felt better. She moved her sight away from Zephaniah, smiled faintly, and looked into Heidi’s eyes. “Miss Howells, are you still okay?” The smile in her eyes was unfathomably deep. Heidi’s smile froze on her lips, but she still calmly dealt with her. “Not a big deal. I just sprained my ankle when I got down the stairs. I didn’t expect Miss Redfern to visit on purpose. Sorry for bothering you.” Jade pursed her lips and glanced at Zephaniah who had already gotten up and was by her side. She grabbed his arms and chuckled. “You’ve overthought, Miss Howells. I came to look for Zeph, so I also took this chance to visit you.” As she spoke, she glanced around and saw an unfamiliar man sitting on the other side of the hospital bed.The man showed the ghost of a smile on the corner of his lips. He quirked his eyebrows, while his body leaned against the back of the chair. He gave off a relaxed elegance, a

After she got into the car, she called Zephaniah before she started the engine, but nobody answered. While she drove to Seagan City, she roughly understood what Martin said, so she subconsciously stepped on the accelerator. Before she went to the hospital, she bought a fruit basket and some flowers from the shop nearby. She then went to ask about in the nurse station, and she figured out the ward where Zephaniah’s mother was.“She has not been in a very good mood recently. When you go inside, you must speak softly.” The young nurse pointed at the ward before she reminded Jade kindly. The air was humid. On the way from South City, it rained heavily. Jade could not help but get herself a little wet. Her fringe on her forehead curled up damply, and it stuck to her head. She tied her hair to a low ponytail. With her indifferent expression, she gave off an extremely cold aura. Her footsteps resounded in the corridor, and she arrived at the door of the ward. She stood there for a while.

The caregiver sighed. “Today, when I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, I remembered you wanting to bring two more nursing bottles to the school, so I went to the second floor and took a look. Later when I was on the second floor, I noticed a woman following me. I then recalled what you’ve told me. So, I didn’t buy anything at all, and I went back to the first floor again.” As Jade heard it, she was slightly flustered, and her expression darkened quickly. She blurted out, “What happened after that?” “That woman stopped me. She said her baby at home needed to drink milk, but she didn’t know what she should buy, so she asked me to check it out for her. As she spoke, she even stuffed five hundred to my hands. I was dragged around by her. She said she wanted to buy milk powder, but I think she was trying to trick me into telling her something.” As the caregiver said it, she rubbed her hands before she passed the five hundred dollar bill. “This is the money she gave me.”

Who are you, little b*tch? Can’t you see that we’re having our meal?” She thought that Jade was a woman whom Zephaniah had met in an unknown nightclub, so her expression became extremely unpleasant, and what she said was even more awful to hear.Zephaniah looked down as he listened to her. He could not afford to hear any more, so he moved to get up. However, a stable force weighed down on his shoulder, and he could not get up as intended. He raised his head and saw Jade pressing his shoulder while staring at Crystal across from him. She slowly curled the corner of her lips as if she was not triggered by Crystal at all. “If I’m not wrong, this lady has come here for a blind date with Mister Cobb, right?” She smiled.Jade gradually moved her arm away, but her smile grew brighter. “Our Mister Cobb needs to attend blind dates with at least ten women in a month, but nobody has been able to spend even ten days with him. I've been by his side for almost four years. So by comparison, who’s

After his meeting in the morning ended, Zephaniah returned to his office as Gemarya followed after him. Once he saw that Zephaniah had taken his seat, Gemarya reported everything. After he was done with the work report, he passed Zephaniah the phone. “Mister Owens, you have six missed calls this mor

When Zephaniah came back home, he gently pushed the bedroom door open, not expecting the room to still be lit. Jade was sitting by the bed and reading a book about marketing in her hands. Zephaniah slowly walked up to her. As if he was reluctant to disturb her, he walked really slowly and quietly.

Heidi followed him quickly and had no intention of letting him go. Eventually, she stopped Zephaniah in front of his car. She blocked the car door with one hand and stopped him from leaving.Zephaniah looked down, and his gaze was not friendly. “Heidi Howells, I remember warning you before.” Heid

He ignored her teasing and looked at her slender arm.Maple propped her cheek up with one hand as she smiled and watched Greyson, whose anger had been ignited by the side. She did not notice Zephaniah’s unfathomable gaze at all. A while later, he commented coldly, “Your watch is quite pretty.”I
