Zephaniah cast a glance at her before he put it back into the cart. “You should apply it to your legs before you sleep at night. It can reduce swelling.”

“Then, don’t buy this. The pillow I usually sleep on is quite good.” She took another one out.

Zephaniah put it back calmly again. “This one’s material is more special. You’ll feel more comfortable.”

Jade was standing at the side while watching him talking to the shop assistant, and she could not join the conversation.

In the end, the two of them went out with nothing. Because they purchased too many things, the shop agreed to deliver the stuff to their doorstep.

They only chose a few pieces of clothes for the babies. Zephaniah said they were not in a hurry and would come to buy them next time.

The nervousness in Jade’s heart eased a little.

He could easily make her fluttered. And she felt like a marionette. A few moves and words from him could make her forget all her grievances and dissatisfactions.

But she had no strength to resist.

He was the one who kept persisting on connecting them, but… if she could have let go, they would not be tangled together.

Two days later, Gemma called and informed her that they had confirmed the date of her wedding, which would be two months later.

“Okay.” Jade smiled and said, “I wish you’ll be happy.”

Gemma sounded like she did not care. “We’ll talk about whether I'll be happy or not later. At the worst, we’ll divorce.”

She paused. Suddenly, she felt she had made a mistake, so she changed to another topic. “Regarding the number you asked me to investigate, the previous user is a lady whose surname is Stewart. Do you know her?”

Jade was stunned slightly. “Stewart?”

“Emmie Stewart.”

When Gemma heard no response from the other side, she felt something was wrong. “Who is this? She’d better not be Zephaniah’s mistress…”

Jade thought for a few minutes and came up with Emmie’s face in her mind.

“No, she’s a friend. Nothing much about it,” she said indifferently. “Tell me after you confirm the exact wedding date. I’ll give you a red packet that will make you satisfied.”

When Gemma understood that she did not want to talk about it and smiled. “It’s a must. But if anything happens, don’t forget about me. I love you more than Mister Owens.”

Jade laughed and hung up

Emmie Stewart.

She could not help but laugh.

After she was forced to resign, Emmie still hypocritically came over to ask for her help.

Jade lay down on the sofa. She did not feel good. Although she was used to covert and overt attacks in the workplace, Emmie had betrayed her.

Jade scrolled across her contact list and made a call to Emmie. Solving things after the problem occurred was her style, and she had to make it clear.

“Jade?” The voice on the other side sounded a little surprised.

“It’s me. Do you have time? Can we meet up?” Jade asked in an indifferent voice.

Emmie was stunned before, then laughed. “Didn’t Mister Owens tell you? It’s not easy to see me. You need to ask Mister Saul for permission.”

Jade did not understand what Emmie meant. But she knew Emmie was very unhappy when she heard her tone.

“Roman Saul?” Jade paused and frowned. “I know that after you went back…”

She did not need to say what happened after that.

“That’s right. I had a miscarriage. And I’ve been grounded at home without being able to go anywhere. Let me count the days…” Emmie looked up at the sky while she thought about how long she had not gone out, but she felt more confused as she thought. She furrowed her eyebrows. “Forget it. Jade hesitated. It was not good to go after her when she had just lost her kid.

Emmie blinked, and she stopped Jade before she could hang up.

“Could you help me find Roman Saul?” Her face was calm, and her voice was cold. She did not sound like she was asking for a favor.

Jade was silent. “Cannot you meet him?”

Emmie sneered. “Of course I can meet him. I’m meeting him every day. But what’s the use? Do I need to kneel down and beg him to let me go?”

Jade understood what she said, and she frowned. “Are you asking me to find him and let you out? I’m not close with him. Will he show respect to me?”

Emmie closed her eyes. Sat sat down in the courtyard and looked afar. “He will. He is only mean to me.”

Jade became silent. She did not know why Emmie had so much confidence in her. Did she not know about Roman Saul kidnaping her?

She thought for a while. “I’ll ask Zephaniah for help.”

“Whatever. I’ll thank you after I get out.”

“Don’t hang up. I have something to ask you.”

“Go on.”

Jade sat up. “You took the photos of me in the news, and you’re also the one who passed them to the magazines.”

Jade did not ask. Instead, she directly made the statement.

Her mind suddenly became clear. Emmie Stewart was the first lady in the Stewart family. She stepped down from the executive position only after she married Roman Saul, so her abilities were much better. Yet she came to ask for her help on that day…

Jade could not help but feel scared while no sound came out from the other side.

“You found out about it. Did Zephaniah help you?” Emmie’s voice was colder than before.

Jade smiled bitterly. “Do you think I’m stupid and don’t have the ability to investigate it, or are you really not afraid of being found out?”

Emmie chuckled. “Both. But if you really figured it out on your own, I’d be amazed.”

Jade stopped smiling, and her expression turned dark. She then switched off the television.

“Why?”

She could not understand why. If she had not intentionally set things up for them to meet, they might not have gotten to know each other at all.

The other side did not answer, but Jade suddenly understood. And she was stunned.

Emmie loved Roman. She hid herself and purposely made him find her. Her real target should have been Jade.

Roman treated her very well.

Jade should have thought about that… She could not help but smile bitterly.

Emmie sneered. “You are not as… pure as you look.”

Jade felt like she should be the one saying that.

“Don’t expect me to apologize. Forget it if you don’t want to help me.” Emmie’s tone was cold.

Jade thought about the whole incident and laughed. Because of jealousy, Emmie had used tricks to make her resign, and she still wanted her to find Roman to help her.

“You go and beg Roman Saul yourself. Although I’m not as smart as you, I’m not one to help my enemy.”

After saying that, Jade hung up. She could not help but sigh.
