Chapter 254 But I’m Not Fine

Author: Tea Splasher
Jade supported Easton with her hands while they walked to the housing area across the street.

“Wait here for a minute. I’ll get some medication for the cuts and bruises. Later, go home and check your wounds. If they’re severe, you’ll have to go to the hospital.” Jade was about to leave after she helped him to sit downstairs.

Easton put his hand on his belly and gasped. His usual gentleness disappeared with the blood on his body and face, but his bright features appeared slightly enchanting when he smiled.

“These are just flesh wounds. My house has the necessary medication. We can go back first.” He then changed his tone and jokingly said, “I’ve got to clean myself up first. Otherwise, every time you gaze at me, it’d be like you’ve seen a ghost. My heart can’t take it.”

Jade was a little stunned, and she could not help but smile bitterly. “It looks like your injuries aren’t very severe. You’re even in the mood to crack a joke.”

She hid her smile, and her serious face seemed indifferent. “Just taking the groceries caused you to be beaten... I’m sorry.” She looked down slightly.

Easton did not stop smiling. He stretched out his legs, touched the corner of his lips, and opened his mouth in pain.

His tone was gentle. “It has nothing to do with you, so you don’t have to blame yourself. Maybe Gemarya saw me opening Mister Owens’ car, so he suspected that I had some other purpose. We didn’t communicate well and got into a fight as a result. There actually wasn’t any hostility between us. A fight allowed me to stretch my body.”

Jade did not answer, and her face appeared even more solemn.

Easton looked gentle as he lowered his voice. “Were you worried about me just now? You almost cried.”

Jade’s hand froze for a moment, while her eyes moved up and down slightly. She avoided having eye contact with him as she blinked, smiled, and said, “Anyone would have freaked out. Not to mention, I haven’t seen a fight up close before. Today, you took the initiative to sacrifice yourself for me to see, so I felt so touched.”

The corner of Easton’s lips raised in a smile, and his eyes were dark. When he heard that, he humphed and laughed, but his eyelashes masked some of his emotions.

“If Taylor doesn’t see us at my house, she’ll get anxious after a long time. I’ll help you upstairs and apply the medication so that I can rush back as soon as possible.”

She reached out to support Easton’s arm, but he grabbed her wrist, and she stopped. However, when she saw him looking calm as if he did not notice his actions, she did not say anything.

Once they reached his home, she found the first aid kit and waited in the living room while he went off to clean his wounds.

When Easton came out, he saw her staring blankly into space with her legs crossed on the carpet. Her face looked calm as well as serene, and she seemed to be immersed in her own world.

“What are you thinking about?”

After he washed the area around his head and changed his clothes, the visible injuries on his face were shocking.

Jade snapped back to herself. She looked at him before she lowered her head and took something from the first aid kit, but she forgot to answer him.

“I’ve taken a look. Your first aid kit is quite complete. The medicine you have is enough for the cuts and bruises. Oh yes, do you have any severe injuries?” She raised her head and asked him.

Easton stood at a higher vantage point. While her figure was skinny, she looked more delicate that way.

“No,” he softly answered.

“Okay. Sit down, I’ll give you a hand with the medicine.” She lowered her head and read the manual.

Easton then sat opposite her. She had on an earnest expression, and the hair near her ears fell when she lowered her head. Easton reached out to tuck her hair behind.

Jade’s body froze. She did not raise her head, but her expression changed. Her voice was still cheerful, though. “There’s a spray here. It’s more convenient to use. Try it.”

She put it in front of him.

“Aren’t you applying the topical medication on me? That will help me recover faster.”

Jade seemed slightly embarrassed. She raised her head, looked him in the eye, and honestly said, “Easton, both of us are adults. So, there’s no such thing as ignorance for us anymore. If you continue to do this, it’d be impossible for me to ignore it.” After she said that, she stood up. She tidied her shirt before she spoke again. “I’ll send Taylor to class these next few days. You can take a few days of leave and rest well at home. I’m going back now.”

Easton stared at the medication in front of him, but he did not move. His eyes dimmed a bit.

“I got it.” His voice remained gentle. “Be careful on the way back.”

Jade was thinking about something, so she walked very slowly.

While she swiped the card at the elevator downstairs, she was startled. She turned around before she saw Zephaniah walking out from a corner under the poor lighting.

Jade stroked her chest before she glared at him and scolded, “You’re standing there late at night? Are you trying to freak me out?!”

Zephaniah did not express himself. His eyes were deep, and a sneer formed on his face.

“A normal person would have seen me at first glance, but you’re so focused on something else that you didn’t even blink. Now, you’re still blaming me?”

Jade closed her eyes. She had been busy the whole night, and she had not even had her dinner. She really did not have the energy to continue arguing with him, so she directly opened the elevator door to enter it.

The card in her hand was suddenly taken away, but before she was able to scream in shock, the man pressed her into a corner. Their noses touched, and both of them breathed heavily at the small corner. All they could smell was each other’s scent.

Zephaniah's eyes were jet black. All of a sudden, he smiled faintly and asked gently, “Is Mister Mcdaniel still fine?”

Jade was pressed, but she was strangely calm. She smiled similarly, and her expression appeared normal. “He’s cleaned his wounds and applied the medication. He’s fine.”

Zephaniah’s face became cold, and a while later, he said, “But I’m not fine.”

The next second, he pressed his lips against hers. He invaded her mouth like a storm and kissed her passionately as if he wanted to eat her.

Jade was forced to accept his advances. Their lips and teeth hit each other, and the smell of blood was extended. Jade furrowed her brows.

Zephaniah was stunned, and his moves became more gentle as he licked her wound with the tip of his tongue. His moves were extremely tender, and Jade could not help but shiver.

The longer they kissed, the more Jade blushed. Her body became weak because of his kiss, and she was forced to stand firmly after he supported her waist with his arms.

Zephaniah’s eyes were filled with enchantment. When he looked at her, his eyes were blurry, and his desire was shown completely.

Jade forcefully held herself up as she pushed him away. “Stop it.”

However, he whispered into her ear in an extremely seductive manner, “Let’s go upstairs.”

His voice was hoarse, and sufferance could be detected. Jade did not have time to respond as he held her in his arms and entered the elevator.

“You… I want to go home!” She tried hard to resist him. If things continued, she would not be able to deal with it.

Zephaniah wore a strange smile. He held her hand and touched a certain part of his body. “I’ve become like this, so how can you just go home?”

Jade’s body instantly felt hot. She gritted her teeth and said, “You’re a jerk!”

Zephaniah stared at her firmly for two seconds before he smirked and admitted, “I am if you say so.” He then leaned in and kissed her again.

Their bodies were nearly pressed together as they entered the bedroom. Jade kept pushing him away because she was worried about the babies, while Zephaniah was also afraid of hurting her. He whispered into her ear to comfort her, and he sounded affectionate.

“I… Can I have it now?” Jade’s eyes lost focus because she had been triggered by him, and she posed him that question with the last of her rationality.

Zephaniah sounded patient, and he was gentle as well as careful. “You can. I’ll be careful.”

As he spoke, he pushed her clothes upward from the waist before he lowered his head and kissed her.

Every inch of her body that was kissed by him felt like it was on fire. Zephaniah gasped heavily, and a while later, he proceeded with foreplay before he completely invaded her body.

Jade still felt worried when things got steamy, and she intermittently reminded him to be careful.

Zephaniah supported her with his body, and his moves were tender as he constantly put her at ease.

Once it was over, Jade widened her bright eyes and stared at the ceiling.

“Do you want me to take you to the bath?” He kissed her on the corner of her lips.

Jade blinked. She turned her body away so that her back faced him. “No need. I’ll go myself later.”

Soon, she heard him get out of bed, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

She closed her eyes. There was visible fatigue around her eyes, and the corner of her lips showed a sense of bitterness.

Within half a month, the news of the engagement of the first daughter of Howells family in South City and the only son of Weaver family, the jewellery big shot in Imperial City had spread. Two of them were even interviewed together by the news media, and there were also some gossips reporting that the two of them held hands and went to the maternity stores together. The engagement banquet was scheduled tomorrow. Today, the Weaver family in Imperial City held a cocktail party in advance. An invitation card was delivered to Zephaniah’s office. He was initially not interested in attending the party, but when his fingers rubbed over the cover of the invitation card, he instantly felt interested. The invitation card of Weaver family purposely used the business label of Peak Corporation, as if they were trying to hint something.Jade just finished eating her breakfast. She pushed the chair away and wanted to walk to the bedroom. She saw the caregiver coming out with a newspaper and point

When they went back to South City, it was already evening. The rain had stopped, and the air was filled with slight moisture. The night sky came. Jade was covered with Zephaniah’s coat as she got down the car. On the way back, both of them remained silent, and none of them talked. The caregiver looked around for a long time at the door. After she heard the car engine, she opened the door of the courtyard anxiously. She saw the two of them walking in one after another, and their expressions did not look good.“Sir, Madam, your parents came in the afternoon. They have been waiting for you.” The caregiver closed the door of the courtyard, and she walked past the corridor at the back of them. Before they went into the house, they heard Jade’s mother’s cheerful laughter as she babbled along with the babies. After they went to the living room, they saw Jade’s mother holding Lincoln on the sofa. She raised her hand high, and her eyes were filled with love. Jade’s father sat on the wheel

She saw his ankle being wrapped in white gauze on the hospital bed, and she instantly felt better. She moved her sight away from Zephaniah, smiled faintly, and looked into Heidi’s eyes. “Miss Howells, are you still okay?” The smile in her eyes was unfathomably deep. Heidi’s smile froze on her lips, but she still calmly dealt with her. “Not a big deal. I just sprained my ankle when I got down the stairs. I didn’t expect Miss Redfern to visit on purpose. Sorry for bothering you.” Jade pursed her lips and glanced at Zephaniah who had already gotten up and was by her side. She grabbed his arms and chuckled. “You’ve overthought, Miss Howells. I came to look for Zeph, so I also took this chance to visit you.” As she spoke, she glanced around and saw an unfamiliar man sitting on the other side of the hospital bed.The man showed the ghost of a smile on the corner of his lips. He quirked his eyebrows, while his body leaned against the back of the chair. He gave off a relaxed elegance, a

After she got into the car, she called Zephaniah before she started the engine, but nobody answered. While she drove to Seagan City, she roughly understood what Martin said, so she subconsciously stepped on the accelerator. Before she went to the hospital, she bought a fruit basket and some flowers from the shop nearby. She then went to ask about in the nurse station, and she figured out the ward where Zephaniah’s mother was.“She has not been in a very good mood recently. When you go inside, you must speak softly.” The young nurse pointed at the ward before she reminded Jade kindly. The air was humid. On the way from South City, it rained heavily. Jade could not help but get herself a little wet. Her fringe on her forehead curled up damply, and it stuck to her head. She tied her hair to a low ponytail. With her indifferent expression, she gave off an extremely cold aura. Her footsteps resounded in the corridor, and she arrived at the door of the ward. She stood there for a while.

The caregiver sighed. “Today, when I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, I remembered you wanting to bring two more nursing bottles to the school, so I went to the second floor and took a look. Later when I was on the second floor, I noticed a woman following me. I then recalled what you’ve told me. So, I didn’t buy anything at all, and I went back to the first floor again.” As Jade heard it, she was slightly flustered, and her expression darkened quickly. She blurted out, “What happened after that?” “That woman stopped me. She said her baby at home needed to drink milk, but she didn’t know what she should buy, so she asked me to check it out for her. As she spoke, she even stuffed five hundred to my hands. I was dragged around by her. She said she wanted to buy milk powder, but I think she was trying to trick me into telling her something.” As the caregiver said it, she rubbed her hands before she passed the five hundred dollar bill. “This is the money she gave me.”

Who are you, little b*tch? Can’t you see that we’re having our meal?” She thought that Jade was a woman whom Zephaniah had met in an unknown nightclub, so her expression became extremely unpleasant, and what she said was even more awful to hear.Zephaniah looked down as he listened to her. He could not afford to hear any more, so he moved to get up. However, a stable force weighed down on his shoulder, and he could not get up as intended. He raised his head and saw Jade pressing his shoulder while staring at Crystal across from him. She slowly curled the corner of her lips as if she was not triggered by Crystal at all. “If I’m not wrong, this lady has come here for a blind date with Mister Cobb, right?” She smiled.Jade gradually moved her arm away, but her smile grew brighter. “Our Mister Cobb needs to attend blind dates with at least ten women in a month, but nobody has been able to spend even ten days with him. I've been by his side for almost four years. So by comparison, who’s

After his meeting in the morning ended, Zephaniah returned to his office as Gemarya followed after him. Once he saw that Zephaniah had taken his seat, Gemarya reported everything. After he was done with the work report, he passed Zephaniah the phone. “Mister Owens, you have six missed calls this mor

When Zephaniah came back home, he gently pushed the bedroom door open, not expecting the room to still be lit. Jade was sitting by the bed and reading a book about marketing in her hands. Zephaniah slowly walked up to her. As if he was reluctant to disturb her, he walked really slowly and quietly.
