Chapter 252 Don’t You Like to Eat Them the Most?

Penulis: Tea Splasher
When they left the studio, it was almost evening, and the heat had finally faded slightly.

Before Jade got into the car, she reached out to show him the pen drive in her hand. She smiled as though she was pleased to see his misfortune and said, “Thank you.”

Zephaniah took it from her and kept it in his suit pocket. He did not even frown in the slightest.

“Give your mother a call and let your family know. They get worried these days.” As he spoke, he started the car engine. “We’ll go to the supermarket first.”

Jade nodded. The moment she took out her phone, she suddenly registered that when she disappeared during those three days, most of the unanswered calls had been from Zephaniah.

A second before she pressed the call button, she could not help but turn around and ask, “You’re worried about me too?”

The car was then driven onto the road. It was the peak hour when people would clock off work in the evening. He did not hear her clearly, so he asked her to repeat it.

Sometimes, courage appeared only when there was an impulse. Right after Jade asked him, she had already regretted it slightly, and now she was not even willing to ask again.

“Nothing. I just asked you to drive carefully.” She appeared calm while she looked out the window. The street lights had just lit up, and they were so bright that they made people dizzy.

Zephaniah stepped on the brake. He took some time to turn over and look at her. She was engaged in a conversation with her mother. Looking at her from the side, she seemed to be smiling, appearing gentle.

At the entrance of the supermarket, Zephaniah nearly stuffed the trunk fully.

Jade rarely saw him so driven to please her, so she could not help but sarcastically say, “You’re not going to meet your mother-in-law. Why did you buy so much?”

Zephaniah paid two porters and closed the car door before he smiled and said, “When we were married, I didn’t handle this part very well. Your parents are still willing to see me, so I need to carry myself well.”

Jade secretly rolled her eyes. He was really good at saying good things.

At that time, not only did he handle it badly, but her parents met him for the first time only after they were married for three months. While they were eating, he received a call, and he left after he told them that he had an emergency in the company. She was so dumb that she even tried extremely hard to defend him and find excuses for him.

She subconsciously felt wronged.

“My parents hate to see any waste. When they start to nag, don’t ever say that I bought all of this.” After she spoke, she lay down and slumped back against the car seat before she closed her eyes to rest.

Zephaniah looked a little helpless. A few moments later, he found the temperature in the car slightly low, so he took a blanket from the backseat and covered her body with it.

When they reached home, Jade got out of the car and smiled innocently. “You need to take the things upstairs. I’m unable to help you.” She stopped for a while and glanced at the trunk, roughly estimating. “You’ll probably need three trips. I’ll go upstairs first and wait for you.”

Just as she was about to go away, Zephaniah pulled her back. Jade hit his firm chest, and she could not help but rub her face in it.

Very soon, she heard laughter on top of her head. When she looked up, she saw the ghost of a smile in his eyes. They were so deep that she could not see the end.

“I’m afraid that I may have to disappoint you. I don’t need to do such hard work yet. Gemarya will be here soon.”

He would probably be calm even if there was thunder. His serene face was just in front of her, and Jade nearly could not hold back from punching him with her fist.

She took a deep breath, composed herself, and put on a fake smile.

“I’m the one who didn’t think things through. You have such a big company, so how is it possible for you to lack people who serve you?” She blinked. “Jobless people like me only know how to eat. Could you let me go eat first?”

Zephaniah cupped her face, which was getting chubbier, and kissed her. “You have me, and that’s enough.” He smiled.

Jade was speechless. She felt as if she was punching a sponge with all her strength, and it was a waste of energy.

She went upstairs in his arms, and when she opened the door, a child rushed toward her. Jade stepped back while Zephaniah immediately reached out to protect her front.

“Taylor!” Easton rarely got so mad.

Taylor was shocked. She stood next to the door, pouted, and lowered her head without a word.

Jade moved Zephaniah’s hand away before she quickly held Taylor in her arms. She said to Easton, “It’s very normal for kids to be active and lively. She didn’t know I was at the door either. Don’t be angry with her. She has finally recovered a little, so don’t startle her again.”

Easton appeared relieved. He smiled helplessly and said, “I’ve told her many times, but she just doesn’t listen. If she hits you, it’s not going to be a small matter.”

After that, he walked over and carried Taylor up. He nodded at Zephaniah, and that was considered a greeting.

“We came here to visit Mrs. Redfern but heard that the two of you were coming back, so we stayed for a little longer.” Easton smiled faintly as he explained.

Zephaniah supported Jade as they walked into the house. He wore a faint smile on his face, but it seemed to lack emotion. “Thank you for your concern, Mister Mcdaniel,” he replied coldly.

Jade played with Taylor before she smiled and said, “I heard about it from my mum. You came and helped these few days while you still needed to take care of Taylor. Thank you very much.”

Jade’s mother had already come out of the kitchen. After Jade finished speaking, she started to scold her, “You didn’t bother Easton alone. You went out on your own for fun, but Zeph went everywhere to look for you. Even if you don’t care about yourself, you have to think about your babies!”

Jade’s father soon exited the study room. When he saw how mad Jade’s mother was, he secretly greeted the young men before he went back into the room. His experience of living as a married couple for a few dozen years told him how to protect himself when his wife was angry.

Jade remained silent as she lowered her head and listened to her mother obediently.

Her mother did not say anything on the phone earlier, so she would definitely scold her when they met in person.

“We were still expecting you to be this family’s pillar, but you’re ‘great’. You just left without saying anything when there was trouble. Did your father and I teach you to behave like that when you were little?”

Jade’s mother had spent her whole life living in a high-class environment, so she was highly educated. She was always strict about Jade’s manners, so she could not help but admonish her.

Jade felt dejected. She supported her waist with one hand while she stood quietly.

Zephaniah put his hand around her waist and partly supported her body weight.

“Mum, it’s also because I wasn’t very considerate, so it’s normal for Jade to get angry.”

Once Jade’s mother was done scolding, she just said, “Get ready for dinner.” Then, she turned around to go back to the kitchen.

Jade sighed in relief. She slowly raised her head and curled her lips down at Taylor. “I’ve been scolded, so my mood isn’t so good. Later, I’ll need to eat more to compensate. Taylor, you have to eat more with me.”

Kids easily felt compassionate, so Taylor nodded very hard.

Easton broke into a faint smile, and he appeared extremely warm. He comforted in a low voice, “Mrs. Redfern was saying that you probably don’t eat food elsewhere that’s better than food at home, so she added two more dishes for you.”

Jade pursed her lips and smiled.

When she turned around, she saw Zephaniah take off his coat and tidy his sleeves. “Are you going to cook?” she asked with surprise.

Zephaniah smiled as he nodded. “Mum is busy on her own, so I’m going in to help her. Carry on with your conversation.”

Jade stared blankly as she nodded, but she felt strange. She had never seen him take initiative like that before.

“Oh yes, just now we bought a lot of groceries and kept them in the trunk. Initially, I had planned to move them over after dinner, but we might need more food now since there are more people here. I may need you to go downstairs and carry them over. I’ll let Jade get the car key for you.” His tone was gentle and polite, while his expression was natural and sincere. That made it hard for someone to reject him.

Easton was stunned for a while. He cast a glance at Jade before he agreed to it.

He walked out of the house, and Zephaniah exited the kitchen at the next second. He smiled helplessly at Jade before he said, “Mum told me that I’m too clumsy and asked me to wait for dinner.”

Jade was mad. ‘This old fox…’

He joined Jade on the sofa with an innocent face, and Jade glared at him. “Didn’t you ask Gemarya to take them?”

“He’s not here yet, and the groceries are urgent.”

“What do you need urgently?” Jade sneered.

Zephaniah looked serious. “The crayfishes. They were still alive when we bought them. If we don’t eat them tonight, they might die.” He glanced at her from the side. “Don’t you like to eat them the most?”

She was speechless.

When they went back to South City, it was already evening. The rain had stopped, and the air was filled with slight moisture. The night sky came. Jade was covered with Zephaniah’s coat as she got down the car. On the way back, both of them remained silent, and none of them talked. The caregiver looked around for a long time at the door. After she heard the car engine, she opened the door of the courtyard anxiously. She saw the two of them walking in one after another, and their expressions did not look good.“Sir, Madam, your parents came in the afternoon. They have been waiting for you.” The caregiver closed the door of the courtyard, and she walked past the corridor at the back of them. Before they went into the house, they heard Jade’s mother’s cheerful laughter as she babbled along with the babies. After they went to the living room, they saw Jade’s mother holding Lincoln on the sofa. She raised her hand high, and her eyes were filled with love. Jade’s father sat on the wheel

She saw his ankle being wrapped in white gauze on the hospital bed, and she instantly felt better. She moved her sight away from Zephaniah, smiled faintly, and looked into Heidi’s eyes. “Miss Howells, are you still okay?” The smile in her eyes was unfathomably deep. Heidi’s smile froze on her lips, but she still calmly dealt with her. “Not a big deal. I just sprained my ankle when I got down the stairs. I didn’t expect Miss Redfern to visit on purpose. Sorry for bothering you.” Jade pursed her lips and glanced at Zephaniah who had already gotten up and was by her side. She grabbed his arms and chuckled. “You’ve overthought, Miss Howells. I came to look for Zeph, so I also took this chance to visit you.” As she spoke, she glanced around and saw an unfamiliar man sitting on the other side of the hospital bed.The man showed the ghost of a smile on the corner of his lips. He quirked his eyebrows, while his body leaned against the back of the chair. He gave off a relaxed elegance, a

After she got into the car, she called Zephaniah before she started the engine, but nobody answered. While she drove to Seagan City, she roughly understood what Martin said, so she subconsciously stepped on the accelerator. Before she went to the hospital, she bought a fruit basket and some flowers from the shop nearby. She then went to ask about in the nurse station, and she figured out the ward where Zephaniah’s mother was.“She has not been in a very good mood recently. When you go inside, you must speak softly.” The young nurse pointed at the ward before she reminded Jade kindly. The air was humid. On the way from South City, it rained heavily. Jade could not help but get herself a little wet. Her fringe on her forehead curled up damply, and it stuck to her head. She tied her hair to a low ponytail. With her indifferent expression, she gave off an extremely cold aura. Her footsteps resounded in the corridor, and she arrived at the door of the ward. She stood there for a while.

The caregiver sighed. “Today, when I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, I remembered you wanting to bring two more nursing bottles to the school, so I went to the second floor and took a look. Later when I was on the second floor, I noticed a woman following me. I then recalled what you’ve told me. So, I didn’t buy anything at all, and I went back to the first floor again.” As Jade heard it, she was slightly flustered, and her expression darkened quickly. She blurted out, “What happened after that?” “That woman stopped me. She said her baby at home needed to drink milk, but she didn’t know what she should buy, so she asked me to check it out for her. As she spoke, she even stuffed five hundred to my hands. I was dragged around by her. She said she wanted to buy milk powder, but I think she was trying to trick me into telling her something.” As the caregiver said it, she rubbed her hands before she passed the five hundred dollar bill. “This is the money she gave me.”

Who are you, little b*tch? Can’t you see that we’re having our meal?” She thought that Jade was a woman whom Zephaniah had met in an unknown nightclub, so her expression became extremely unpleasant, and what she said was even more awful to hear.Zephaniah looked down as he listened to her. He could not afford to hear any more, so he moved to get up. However, a stable force weighed down on his shoulder, and he could not get up as intended. He raised his head and saw Jade pressing his shoulder while staring at Crystal across from him. She slowly curled the corner of her lips as if she was not triggered by Crystal at all. “If I’m not wrong, this lady has come here for a blind date with Mister Cobb, right?” She smiled.Jade gradually moved her arm away, but her smile grew brighter. “Our Mister Cobb needs to attend blind dates with at least ten women in a month, but nobody has been able to spend even ten days with him. I've been by his side for almost four years. So by comparison, who’s
