Chapter 249 She Is My Wife

Author: Tea Splasher
Jade looked at her phone. “It’s still early. We can wait for a while in the tea room.”

The tea room was divided into two sections—eastern and western. Jade brought Martin to walk toward the eastern tea room without hesitation. She preferred listening to classical oldies and staying in a lively place.

But most of the people there were foreigners.

They found a seat near the window and sat down.

Martin could not help but feel curious as he glanced around. He shook his head, sent a signal to Jade, and said, “It’s such a waste to use this kind of place for business discussions.”

When Jade wanted to laugh at him for not knowing how rich people operated, her phone suddenly rang.

“What are you doing?” Zephaniah sounded like he was in a good mood.

Jade subconsciously smiled. “I’m outside. I’m going to have lunch with an old friend.” She stopped for a moment before adding, “I plan to get a job for Martin. No matter what, he still needs to live.”

Zephaniah did not answer. Jade glanced at Martin before she continued. “I remember what you’ve told me. Don’t worry. I’ll see you tonight.”

When she wanted to hang up, Zephaniah suddenly said calmly, “I can make arrangements for his job. You don’t have to worry.”

She furrowed her brow. “I’ve asked my friend to come over. It’s not good for me to put him off. I’ll try first, if it doesn’t work, we’ll talk again.”

“You don’t have to try. It definitely won’t work.” He did not even give her the time to get angry and just hung up after saying that.

Jade glanced at her phone, and her face darkened. But Martin was sitting across from her. She did not want him to misunderstand, so she forced herself to suppress her anger.

When she raised her head, Martin was looking out the window. His eyes were narrowed. “Miss Redfern, is that your ex-husband?”

She looked over in that direction. Zephaniah wore a gray formal suit. They were some distance away, but she was certain it was him based on his unique presence.

He was looking in another direction.

It was not strange for him to appear at this place, however.

Jade glanced at the people standing beside him, and she immediately understood why Ethan mentioned that they had to meet in this place.

Ethan was smiling so brightly he could practically light up the room. Jade felt her lips twitch. He had indeed become connected with a really good company.

“Let’s go. He is too busy today. We’re not meeting him.” She looked away, took her bag, and stood up slowly.

Martin blinked, but he did not ask anything when he saw Jade’s expression.

When they reached the entrance, they were blocked.

Jade sighed imperceptibly and smiled while ignoring the person who stood in front of her. Instead, she looked Ethan in the eyes.

“Mister Parker.” She smiled faintly as she nodded at him.

Ethan was stunned. He hesitated slightly and cast a glance at Zephaniah before quickly walking forward. When he wanted to introduce them to the group, he saw Zephaniah directly taking Jade’s bag from her hands. His expression was aloof, but his voice was strangely gentle.

“Since you’re here, I’ll send you home after lunch.” As he spoke, he put his arm around her shoulders.

Ethan was really shocked, and the few people around them were also shocked.

“Jade, you…”

“She is my wife. Since all of us know each other, we should have lunch together so we can catch up.” His voice was neither loud nor low, but everyone could hear it. He smiled faintly and said to everyone, “My wife is pregnant, so she is a little picky when it comes to food. I wouldn’t want all of you to not be able to eat what you like, so I’ll get another table for you. It’ll be my treat.”

Nobody dared to reject his offer.

When Zephaniah was not paying attention, Ethan got close to Jade and whispered in a rather awkward manner, “Jade, if you have someone so powerful supporting you, why did you come to me? Do you want to embarrass me?”

Before Jade could answer him, Zephaniah suddenly appeared next to them. “It’s a good question. I also want to know,” he said with the ghost of a smile.

Ethan’s smile instantly froze and he awkwardly took a few steps back.

When Jade saw him walking away, she dropped her smile and said to Ethan softly, “Would this have happened if you had agreed in the morning?”

She then turned around to face Zephaniah. She looked at his face and found that she really wanted to punch him. She opened her mouth and squeezed out a few words, “I forgot yesterday.”

Zephaniah pursed his lips.

When Ethan saw that something was wrong between the two of them, he wisely chose to act as the mediator. “Look at the time! Pregnant ladies get hungry very easily. Mister Owens, should we go for lunch first? We can talk while eating.”

Zephaniah looked at the woman at his side. She had an indifferent look on her face, but her hand subconsciously touched her belly. He could not help but smile and nod.

Martin stood at the side and saw every detail. The smile on his lips never faded away.

Jade gave him a look before she looked at Ethan again. She was signalling for him to perform well.

In the private room, Jade was the first one to sit down, and Zephaniah naturally sat beside her. He lowered his head and asked her about the temperature in the room. After that, he put the menu in front of her, gave two suggestions, and let her order.

The two people across from them glanced around and awkwardly looked each other in the eye.

Ethan looked calm, but he was full of surprise. The big shot in South City was already married… to this woman.

Zephaniah appeared calm. When he looked up, he glanced at Martin. “I’ve talked to Mister Whittle. You can go back and work there.”

Jade looked away from the menu and quirked her eyebrows.

“When did you talk to him?”

Zephaniah still looked calm. “A few minutes ago.”

Jade frowned. She just told him about this a few minutes ago, and they met at the entrance. When did he have the time to tell Mister Whittle about this? He was just lying.

“But I’ve made the deal with Mister Parker.” Although she did not show any expression, her words were filled with emotion.

Zephaniah smiled faintly towards Ethan before he turned around and unfolded the napkin in front of Jade.

He looked into her eyes, smiled, and said, “If my guess is right, Mister Parker is here to see whether he fits his company or not. You haven’t made a deal yet.”

When he saw that Jade’s expression turned dark and her eyes filled with rage, he said softly, “Mister Parker’s company is going through a crucial period. Since it’ll be slightly troublesome for him to take Martin in, why don’t you just let Martin go back to Vantage? He is more familiar with the environment there.” He turned around and looked at Martin. “What do you think?”

He had given many reasons, and he even looked like he was negotiating with Martin. He did not want to give Martin any choice.

Martin pursed his lips. Jade was also looking at him. It seemed like she was also waiting for him to make the decision.

Hesitation appeared on his usually jovial features. He held his glass while looking a little nervous.

Ethan looked calm, but a lot of thoughts were racing through his mind. If Martin really chose him, he would be in a very troublesome situation. On one side, he had to deal with Zephaniah, but on the other hand, he had to deal with Jade, who looked like someone Zephaniah cared about very much. No matter what he said, he would offend one side.

It was obvious that the meal would end on an unhappy note, and he might no longer be able to have this powerful person on his side anymore.

“Miss Redfern…” Martin called her with slight unease.

Jade tugged at Zephaniah and scolded him, “Stop acting like a boss here!”

Zephaniah’s expression turned dark. He looked away and took a sip of water.

“I’m willing to go back to Vantage. Mister Owens is right. I’m more familiar with Vantage.” Martin smiled in a rather unpleasant fashion.

“Look, he’s fine with it.” Zephaniah immediately turned around and looked at Jade. There was amusement in his eyes.

Jade got so mad that she wanted to refute him, but she was stopped by Martin. “After you give birth, I bet you’ll be willing to go back to Vantage. At that time, I wish to be working under you once more.”

When they went back to South City, it was already evening. The rain had stopped, and the air was filled with slight moisture. The night sky came. Jade was covered with Zephaniah’s coat as she got down the car. On the way back, both of them remained silent, and none of them talked. The caregiver looked around for a long time at the door. After she heard the car engine, she opened the door of the courtyard anxiously. She saw the two of them walking in one after another, and their expressions did not look good.“Sir, Madam, your parents came in the afternoon. They have been waiting for you.” The caregiver closed the door of the courtyard, and she walked past the corridor at the back of them. Before they went into the house, they heard Jade’s mother’s cheerful laughter as she babbled along with the babies. After they went to the living room, they saw Jade’s mother holding Lincoln on the sofa. She raised her hand high, and her eyes were filled with love. Jade’s father sat on the wheel

She saw his ankle being wrapped in white gauze on the hospital bed, and she instantly felt better. She moved her sight away from Zephaniah, smiled faintly, and looked into Heidi’s eyes. “Miss Howells, are you still okay?” The smile in her eyes was unfathomably deep. Heidi’s smile froze on her lips, but she still calmly dealt with her. “Not a big deal. I just sprained my ankle when I got down the stairs. I didn’t expect Miss Redfern to visit on purpose. Sorry for bothering you.” Jade pursed her lips and glanced at Zephaniah who had already gotten up and was by her side. She grabbed his arms and chuckled. “You’ve overthought, Miss Howells. I came to look for Zeph, so I also took this chance to visit you.” As she spoke, she glanced around and saw an unfamiliar man sitting on the other side of the hospital bed.The man showed the ghost of a smile on the corner of his lips. He quirked his eyebrows, while his body leaned against the back of the chair. He gave off a relaxed elegance, a

After she got into the car, she called Zephaniah before she started the engine, but nobody answered. While she drove to Seagan City, she roughly understood what Martin said, so she subconsciously stepped on the accelerator. Before she went to the hospital, she bought a fruit basket and some flowers from the shop nearby. She then went to ask about in the nurse station, and she figured out the ward where Zephaniah’s mother was.“She has not been in a very good mood recently. When you go inside, you must speak softly.” The young nurse pointed at the ward before she reminded Jade kindly. The air was humid. On the way from South City, it rained heavily. Jade could not help but get herself a little wet. Her fringe on her forehead curled up damply, and it stuck to her head. She tied her hair to a low ponytail. With her indifferent expression, she gave off an extremely cold aura. Her footsteps resounded in the corridor, and she arrived at the door of the ward. She stood there for a while.

The caregiver sighed. “Today, when I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, I remembered you wanting to bring two more nursing bottles to the school, so I went to the second floor and took a look. Later when I was on the second floor, I noticed a woman following me. I then recalled what you’ve told me. So, I didn’t buy anything at all, and I went back to the first floor again.” As Jade heard it, she was slightly flustered, and her expression darkened quickly. She blurted out, “What happened after that?” “That woman stopped me. She said her baby at home needed to drink milk, but she didn’t know what she should buy, so she asked me to check it out for her. As she spoke, she even stuffed five hundred to my hands. I was dragged around by her. She said she wanted to buy milk powder, but I think she was trying to trick me into telling her something.” As the caregiver said it, she rubbed her hands before she passed the five hundred dollar bill. “This is the money she gave me.”

Who are you, little b*tch? Can’t you see that we’re having our meal?” She thought that Jade was a woman whom Zephaniah had met in an unknown nightclub, so her expression became extremely unpleasant, and what she said was even more awful to hear.Zephaniah looked down as he listened to her. He could not afford to hear any more, so he moved to get up. However, a stable force weighed down on his shoulder, and he could not get up as intended. He raised his head and saw Jade pressing his shoulder while staring at Crystal across from him. She slowly curled the corner of her lips as if she was not triggered by Crystal at all. “If I’m not wrong, this lady has come here for a blind date with Mister Cobb, right?” She smiled.Jade gradually moved her arm away, but her smile grew brighter. “Our Mister Cobb needs to attend blind dates with at least ten women in a month, but nobody has been able to spend even ten days with him. I've been by his side for almost four years. So by comparison, who’s

When Jade opened her eyes, she felt her lower body part being wet and sticky. The tingling pain in her belly forced her to wake up quickly. She subconsciously lifted her finger and twirled in the air before it fell and hit her flat tummy. It was so painful that she frowned a little. Her pupils in

When she spoke, her words were full of foreign grammar. Before Jade reacted, she coughed gently into a fist under her nose. “I’m sorry that I’m not used to the scent of the hospital ward.” She politely looked sorry before she glanced at Easton. “I’ll wait for you outside.” After that, she left t
