Payback? Did he mean he wanted to put me in jail for stabbing him three years ago?

I was pretty sure that it was him who owed me, Sarah Tang, big-time. He’d done so much to hurt me. I wanted to say to him, That’s rich, coming from you. Sure, I almost killed you, but you hurt me so many times for the sake of your lover. I mean your little sister. I mean, your little sister who also happens to be your lover. Disgusting.

”Look, you got the wrong person,” I said to him in English, and smiled. I spoke in broken Chinese, “My name is Sophia. I\'m a Chinese American designer.\"

I smiled and made a little bow, the way a westerner might bow. I politely retracted my hand and left him dazed.

I went straight back to the apartment. When I got to the door, I found that it was open. I remember locking it before I left.

My heart beat wildly. I grabbed a vase from the common hallway and quietly walked to the door.

What if the intruder is Marcus Mo, what should I do? Should I kill him? Can I report him to the police? My mind was racing.

Whether it\'s Marcus Mo or a thief, that person had no business here in my apartment, and I’m not going down without a fight!

Someone was in my room. When I got to the door, it suddenly opened from inside. I prepared to hit whoever it was with a vase. I aimed for the head, hoping I hit hard enough to get the person unconscious but not too hard to kill him. Or her. It could also be Maureen, I thought.

To my surprise, I heard the familiar sounds of an electric wheelchair. I looked down and saw Tom\'s shoes, and the rest of his body followed.

\"Sarah, it\'s me.\"

“Tom?”

My arms were frozen in place, and I still had the vase up in the air. Slowly, I lowered my arms.

I looked down at him.

\"Why are you here? I thought you couldn’t come with me?\"

I went forward and hugged him briefly, vase still in hand. I went to the table and put the vase down.

\"I\'ll fly back at 2 a.m. later. There\'s a meeting Tomorrow night. I have to be there.\"

He smiled at me with a tired face.

“Have you photographed the necklace?\"

\"No.” I replied with a sad look on my face.

Thinking of meeting Marcus Mo in the afternoon, my heart fell. I wanted to tell Tom, but hesitated. I didn’t want him to worry about me.

“Wasn’t there enough money? I put 20 Million in your account yesterday.”

My eyes widened. “20 million? Why didn\'t you tell me earlier?” I sat down, and took a deep breath.

If I had known, I might not have missed that necklace.

Tom is really good to me. There are some things I should not hide from him.

\"I\'ll find a way for us to get it. You can see who I\'ve brought.\"

He turned on the light and pointed to the bed with a smile.

Joy was lying on the bed with her eyes closed and sleeping soundly.

\"How did you manage to fly her over here?”

I went over and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek. In an instant, I felt a lot better.

\"She did miss you, but I didn’t bring her because of that. It’s your parents’ death anniversary. I thought Joy should meet her grandparents.

I nodded, thinking of the death of my parents, my heart hurt again. Marcus Mo, the man I used to love the most, didn’t kill them himself but his actions led to their deaths.

Even if they didn’t die by his hand, he could have stopped Maureen from doing what she did. Instead, he chose to protect her and let her do whatever she wanted.

Now that I\'m back, I fear for my own safety as well as that of my child. But Tom is here to protect us.

I bit my lip, and began, \"I met Marcus Mo at the auction. He took out the necklace for auction.”

“Why am I not surprised?” Tom said sarcastically.

“That piece of shit auctioned it out, then he bought it back. Then he harassed me, and said he recognized me. I feel that he used this necklace to lead me out.\"

Tom \'s face sank. He said to me in a harsh voice, \"I\'ll wake Joy up. We\'ll go back to the United States right away.\"

I grabbed him, shook my head at him and said firmly, \"I can\'t go back. If I don\'t get that necklace back, I\'ll never leave.\"
