Chapter 5: A Coffee Shop

The car ride back to Cassie's house was quiet. It was an uncomfortable silence and I wanted to say something just to break it, but I decided that it was better to let Cassie digest everything that I had told her earlier. I thought she would have freaked out or at least not believed me, but she was handled everything in a surprisingly calm manor.

After we had been driving for a while, I turn into Cassie's driveway. I got out of the car and walked around to open the door for Cassie. She looked a bit indecisive when she gets out of the car, so I decide just to give her a node and wish her a happy birthday. I tell her not to be a stranger.

A few hours later my phone makes a sound, informing me that I have received a text. It is from Cassie, asking to meet up tomorrow. I was happy that she seemed to have taken my advice to heart. I felt very excited at the prospect of seeing Cassie again, I do not know why, as she made it clear in her text that she only wants to meet up to talk more about what happened earlier. Either way, part of me cannot help but feel like I would be taking her out on a date.

Usually I value my sleep, but as I cannot stop thinking about Cassie, I was

out flexing my wings instead of being asleep in my bed. I spent several hours just flying around the neighbourhood and before I knew it, the sun was starting to come up over the trees. Seeing the sun made me realise that I had lost track of time and have been out flying much longer than I had planned to. I decided to head back home to get some sleep before getting ready for mine and Cassie's meeting later.

I got out of the shower and walked over to my wardrobe to find something to wear, I try several outfits before I was happy. It is stupid really, as I know that it does not really matter. In the end I settled for a pair of jeans and a black top. I walked back into the bathroom and debated whether I should try to tame my messy hair, but I give up fairly quickly. I do not want Cassie to realise just how much time I was spending on getting ready. It is just a casual meeting after all and not a date.

I get to the coffee shop early. I wanted to check it out and make sure that there was a good place where we could sit, that is fairly private. After a while, I detect the perfect spot. The table was located by the window, so we could watch people go about their day, but at the same time it was in a corner of the shop, so there was no need for anyone to walk past it.

I took a seat and place a sound barrier spell around the area, so that when Cassie turned up, we could speak freely without being worried that anyone would overhear. After I sorted everything out, I ordered myself a coffee and sat down to wait for Cassie.

Part of me would have wanted to pick Cassie up and escort her to the coffee shop, however I needed to remind myself that this meeting was not a date. Besides, it was very unlikely that anything would happen to Cassie on the way here and the necklace should stop anyone from noticing that she is anything but human.

When Cassie walked into the coffee shop, I could not help but stare at here. She was wearing a black pair of tight fitted jeans with a white top. Her brown hair was put up into a ponytail and her blue eyes were highlighted with some mascara. Again, I felt like she was the most beautiful person I have ever met and considering how old I am that is saying a lot.

As Cassie got to the table that I was sitting by, I stood up and went to give her a hug. An electric shock ran through me as we touched, and I got a feeling like I belonged to her. I was not sure what it was about, but I quickly released her and apologised. Cassie looked up at me while she takes her seat.

"Actually, I wanted to talk to you about that? Has that happened to you before?"

It surprised me how much more confident she seemed compared with yesterday.

"No, it never happened to me before, I am not sure what it is about. I went to ask an old friend of mine about it when it first happened, but I didn't get any reasonable explanation about it."

She looked around the coffee shop before her eyes met mine.

"Should we go somewhere else, that is more private to talk?" She asked with concern in her voice.

I gave her a smile.

"It's okay, I put a sound barrier spell up so no one should be able to hear what we are talking about."

She looked at me and seemed to be considering something.

"So you're not human either. What are you?"

I have no idea how to answer that as I do not want to say the D word and scare her away.

"I'm sort of like you, but slightly different."

"And what am I exactly?"

I should have seen that coming. I do not want to lie to Cassie but at the same time, I do not want to scare her away now that she was starting to talk to me.

"It's a bit complicated to explain, I'll explain it to you later at some point, for now let's just say that you are a being that have certain abilities."

Cassie looked at me with content excitement.

"What abilities do I have?"

Having watched Nick grow up and learn how to deal with his abilities, I could pinpoint most of his abilities, and there is a reasonable chance that Cassie would develop them, but as I had only met her mother a few times, I had no idea what abilities she may have had and as she was a being of light, it would be hard for me to even guess.

"We are not sure, some of your abilities will come from your father, whereas others will come from your mother. I have a pretty good grasp of what abilities your dad has, but I have no idea what abilities your mother had, and it is still not clear what abilities you have inherited."

Cassie seemed to

think over what I had just told her.

"With we, you mean you and my dad? Have you known him long because you don't look that old?"

I could not help but smile at her, I liked that she was being a bit sassy.

"Well I am a bit older than I look."

I stared into her eyes, silently challenging her to continue. She seemed to take the bait.

"Exactly how old?"

I gave her a wink and a cheeky smile.

"A gentleman never tells"

She looked back at me and our eyes meet for a moment. I got lost in her blue eyes. It felt like a long time have passed before she pulled me out of my trans by asking if I could help her to control her abilities. I shake my head internally to get myself back to reality.

"Well I can try, some of your abilities will be similar to mine, but others will be completely different and so far, we only know about the mind reading."

"Well can you help me with that?"

I do not have the ability to read minds but knowing that it would mean that I get to spend more time with Cassie, I happily agreed.

"I can try."

We changed the subject after that and moved on to a more normal everyday conversation. I asked her about how the rest of her birthday went and what she was getting up to this weekend.

The time got away from us and soon Cassie had to go, as Leah was waiting in the car park to drive her home. I walked her to the car and told her how much I had enjoyed seeing her. When we got to the car, I told her to let me know when she was free and that it was probably best to practice her abilities at my house, if she did not mind.

Before she got into the car, she turned to me and instigated a hug. The electric shock went through me and I got filled with happiness. It felt like I was meant to be with Cassie. The electric shock seemed to have affected Cassie too. She shakes her head and tells me that she will see me later.

Leah drives away, but I just stand there looking after them. I was not sure what was going on, but after I received that hug from Cassie, I was ecstatic and could not wait to see Cassie again.

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 48: The Witch Village

Leah turned up a few hours later. She told us that they had decided that Mark and Set were going to stay at home as hopefully that would keep Abigail from becoming suspicious. That did mean that the wolves would have to look over Cassie without Mark, however he had already texted them and told them to meet us down at the cabin.

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 47: Remembering the past

I was enjoying my flight, knowing that Cassie was safe in my house with Leah protecting her. It made me feel less worried, especially after the defensive display of magic that Leah had manifested by instinct when we were sparring. I knew she still felt bad about it, but in all honesty, it was nothing. If I had been prepared for it, I would have been able to deflect it. My fighting skills go way beyond some elemental magic.

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 46: A werewolves Alliance

I teleported us back to the house, but when we got there the house was empty. I started to panic, but Leah told me to calm down. "The wolves would not have wanted to come inside." She said as she walked towards the back garden, I followed her outsi

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 45: Research

Cassie and I spent some time just being close to each other after the others had left. Having her remembering her past life helped, and she forgave me for not telling her that I am a demon. After living through Katie's life, she realised why I had been so reluctant in telling her. She also realised that I am different from other demons and that I would do anything for her.

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 44: Back to Reality

My consciousness slammed back into my body again. It took some time for me to realise that I was back with Cassie by my side. "We had a baby." I whispered quietly, mostly to myself. "A beautiful baby girl." Cassie turned to look at me. "It was you, it was always you, in my dreams. I wasn't sure, but it was actually you. It actually happened."

His Daughter's Saviour   Chapter 43: Time to say goodbye

Two days later the ceremony for Katie's passing was on its way. Katie's parents were reluctant for me to attend, as it had to be held in the temple, which was a place I was not allowed to visit. On the morning of Katie's ceremony, I was in the hospital, looking over our baby girl Leah, while awaiting confirmation about the situation. Katie's parents had told me that they understood my need to say a proper goodbye to Katie, so they were having a meeting with the elders to discuss the potential of allowing me into the temple this one time. After a lot of waiting, I finally got the word that I was allowed to attend, however little Leah was not allowed to leave the hospital, so I would ha

We walked over to a restaurant nearby, had a seat and ordered our food. While we were waiting for the food to arrive, I was thinking of ways to encourage Cassie to use her ability and I finally came up with a good idea.
