Chapter 2 – Meet Athena “Nilsa” Breeze

Athena’s P.O.V

Not again! I hear my father whining to my mother about how “out of control” I am and that he is against me assuming the position of Alpha Female of our pack. My mother is the peaceful Alpha female of our seemingly strong pack Ocean Moon. My mother calls me into the family room for a “meeting” . I slam my fists down at the authority my father seems to try and have. “I’ve led every attack against the rouges successfully with minor injuries and no deaths by the moon goddesses grace, other than mom the pack looks to me for guidance not you!” I leave them in the meeting room and go for a run in the woods, it is the only way I will calm down. My wolf pipes up “You know you need to watch how you speak to our father”, I huff in annoyance “Nilsa I can’t stay quiet anymore, I know you’re right but I’m sick of this, now do you want to go for a run or not?” I ask cheekily, I can feel her roll her eyes at me and I start transforming.

I land on all fours; I have a white coat with black stripes. You could easily mistake me for the rare Bengal white tiger in the distance. My height and size in my wolf form are slightly bigger than the average she-wolf. I run into the woods, I love the feeling of the earth beneath my paws, the cold winter breeze flowing through my fur and seeing the world through the eyes of my beautiful wolf. I slow down to a trot and change back into my human form; I sit on my rock by the lake under the weeping willow. I cause ripples in the water and think about the past few months of this year, can 2018 be over already! Nilsa whimpers in my head as my tears stream down my face.  “Don’t cry anymore Athena, He was not good enough for us anyways” I smile as Nilsa tries to calm me. I was in a relationship with a wolf who was from another pack, we met through friends and we decided to pursue a relationship. We were together for almost 3 years and when I suggested that we should choose each other as chosen mates he refused and I was infuriated and we decided to break of our relationship and not even six months later he found his “mate” and has moved on, yet here I am a born Alpha daughter and the strongest warrior in my pack breaking down over some sappy teenage romance. I am born to my mother who is an Alpha daughter so when I was born it was a shocker, apparently it doesn’t happen as often. Twenty-fucking-two and no mate and I will reject him if he ever crosses my path. “OUR PATH AND I WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU TO DO THAT TO US BECAUSE THAT ASSHOLE SCREWED US OVER!” Nilsa screams in my head, I huff and allow her to take over. We look up and see the ring around the moon.

“Nilsa we better get back home now, the eclipse will start soon and mum did say she wants us to be there to guide the new wolves through their change” I get no reply but I sense that Nilsa understands me and we head home, by the time we reach and shower up everyone is gathering in the backyard, I slip on some black shorts and a grey vest, I leave my long black hair up in a messy bun and head down after slipping on my trainers. The younger wolves are nervous, and I understand why. I mean it's no fun having your bones break and reshape; the pain is agonizing! “I am going to be with you all every step of the way. Just trust me” I get some shouts of cheers and whistles. I hear some bones cracking and clothes ripping, I look to my side and see one of the younger wolves from the group starting to change, we look up and the partial eclipse has begun. Please moon goddess help my pack through their first change. We all change into our wolves and I mindlike the new wolves to become one with their beast, soon all of us are in wolf form and we let out a powerful howl to the moon. I stare up a little longer and say a silent prayer.
