His Blood Moon Queen

Tonight, one of the coldest nights also the night of the blood moon, July 27th this will be one of the longest lunar eclipses. It is foretold that every wolf on this night will find their mate within the week. Alpha Wayne Thunders looks up at the sky and lets out a long sigh “Yeah like there is a chance in hell I will find her.” He says his thoughts aloud, his beta and best friend Chris puts a hand on Wayne’s shoulder “ don’t worry bro, I am sure this year you will find her.”

Wayne’s P.O.V

I look at my best friend and smile, it's easy for him to say that I will find my mate. Three years ago on the last blood moon he found his mate Sammy while we were visiting a neighboring pack. Don’t get me wrong I am happy for my best friend, but I wish I had someone to hold and call my own, I am a twenty-four-year-old werewolf Alpha male who is unmated with growing responsibilities. Two weeks ago my father told me he was stepping down from his position as Alpha of our pack to spend more time with my mother, since then I have been preparing to take over the empire, our pack spans across the whole of Kzn North. It takes up most of my time to run the notorious Red Moon pack in the Country, during my spare time I go and play some cricket and used to be able to take weeks off away from the pack to play as a normal human athletic champion for my teams. I’m not boasting but I’m a damn good sportsman. Now, it’s all changing as the pack work consumes me. I have realized that my responsibilities and duties call me to tend to the pack and training of my warriors and hunters. I look up at the sky. The eclipse will start soon, my abilities will heighten, tonight is the night most of the wolves will change for the first time. This is also the moon where the moon goddess will answer our every wish and prayer. I go into my room and showered up.

I heard my phone buzz for the umpteenth time and look at the name, I curse under my breathe “stupid bitch. I told her I will call her” she was just a good fuck and I needed to calm my raging hormones and relieve some stress. The beast within my head chuckles “ Yeah, keep telling yourself that bro, you were just drunk and horny and wanted to keep your dick warm”, I yell back at him internally “ Shut up Striker” I block him out of my mind, can’t deny it though my wolf was right. Taking on the Alpha position without my mate is taking its toll on me and I needed to let off some steam. I had walked into the bar after a long day of meetings with other pack alpha’s and their daughters in the hope that I might find my mate, I was growing desperate but also tired, they all wanted my title not me. She walked up to me and we had one too many drinks and the next thing I knew I was fucking her brains out, it could have been better, but she was human, if I unleashed my full strength on her I would have killed her in that hotel room. My phone rang again, I picked up, furious this time because I made it clear that we would be nothing more than that one-night stand or an occasional hook up! “Did I not make it clear to you that I would call you?” there was a slight whimper on the other side and next thing “Don’t ever call me you sick bastard! I told you I love you!” I pinch the bridge of my nore with my fore finger and thumb, letting out a deep sigh of relief as she cut the calll. At least I won’t hear from that psycho bitch again.

I slip on my denim jeans and white t-shirt, heading out to the back where everyone was gathering. The litlle pups were playing, and the younger adults were getting ready for their first shift, every wolf shifts for the first time between sixteen to eighteen years of age. I was going to shift with them and mind link them to keep going and pushing through the pain, even for born werewolves; the pain was excrutiating, but after that it was easy to shift when you wanted to, we never needed to wait for a full moon unless it was your first shift, the full moon gave you the strength to push through. I am adored by my pack and I love them and lead them with pride. There isn’t a battle we haven’t won. I have the best warriors, scouts, trackers and guards at my side. I look up at the moon, the ring is present. The eclipse will start soon.
