Chapter 56

A while later, Blake arrived at the aquarium, but the place was huge, thus searching for a mother and child was not an easy task. Fortunately, the pair he sought was unusual, and he found them after shuttling through a few sections.

Jessica carried Winson around for almost the whole trip and her arms were starting to get sore, so she sat down on the bench for a rest.

Winson was a cute toddler. Many young girls that visited the aquarium ignored the fishes and surrounded the little guy instead. They played with him and even took pictures with him.

Jessica was happy that her son was meeting so many different people. She believed in enriching his world as he should not just limit his circle to wealthy and superior socialites.

She was drinking water beside him while little Winson was being carried around like a treasured prize. After being hugged by everyone, the little guy’s pocket was filled with candy, and he even got a cute fox ear headband.

Jessica put Winson on her lap and took the candies out from his pocket because she did not want him to eat all that sugar behind her back.

It was then that a tall shadow blocked the light above Jessica’s head. The aquarium was already dim, and with the shadow above her, her sight instantly turned dark.

Jessica instinctively looked up and saw Blake gazing at her in his casual clothes. His handsome face was like an icy mountain in the north without any expression on it.

She was stunned. ‘Why is he here?’

Despite having been married for more than two years now, the two of them barely appeared in public together. They had only probably gone to a handful of events together. Each time they had to appear as a couple, he would stay away from her as if he was afraid that she would ‘talk’ to him.

Blake took his hands out from his pocket and picked Winson up. He said, “Have you eaten?”

Jessica shook her head. She originally planned to get something to eat, but she got tired after some walking.

He turned around and walked deeper into the aquarium.

Jessica looked at him curiously. He had asked whether she had eaten, so should he not turn around and go out instead?

When Blake did not hear Jessica’s footsteps following him, he turned around and looked at her. “Come along.”

Jessica glared at his back angrily. Was torturing her in bed for a whole night not enough? Was he trying to starve her to death now?

Her legs were still sore after last night. If Kim had not come to the house and been an eyesore, she would not have come out.

Inside Aquatic Wonderland was an ocean-themed restaurant, but it was a pricey place to have lunch at. Normal folks would not choose to dine here, so many stayed away from the inner section of the aquarium.

Before Jessica got married to Blake, she was like a lady of ancient times. Her family never allowed her to wander outside at all. After she got married to Blake, the Fergusons never really restricted her, but she had been through a lot, and the child within was long gone.

If not for Winson, she would not have come to the aquarium.

She saw Blake walk in as if he knew the place, and the manager there seemed to know him as well. Some small talk later, the manager guided them into the restaurant.

Jessica was stunned as she glanced at Blake from the side.

Was he buying her lunch in this expensive restaurant?

Her shock remained all the way until the waiter served the dish. She stared at Blake in confusion. She did not know what he was thinking beneath that calm gaze of his and what he was planning.

Blake cut the fish and put a tiny piece into his mouth. He said without looking at her, “It’s getting cold. Eat up.”

Jessica finally regained her senses. After she made sure he would not cause trouble in public, she grabbed the fork and knife to cut a piece of codfish.

She liked codfish and Winson shared the same taste. He also simply loved eating fish.

She fed little Winson and then took a bite herself. Maybe because the environment was pleasant and it made her slightly happy, or maybe because she was exhausted from all the walking, the plate of codfish was finished after a short while, but she was not even full.

However, she was embarrassed to tell Blake that she was not full yet. She held the fork and kept poking the chocolate sauce that was drizzled as garnish on the plate.

Blake glanced at her. He then called the waiter over and ordered more for her. After that, he carried Winson over and fed the little guy some pudding.

Jessica took small bites from her own dessert as she peeked at the man before her. Was he trying to make up for what he did to her?

She dared not lower her guard in front of Blake. Experience taught her that the man could be quite merciless if he got angry. More precisely, he never had any feelings for her. Why would he come all the way here to the aquarium then?

After lunch, Jessica thought that he would bring her and Winson back home. He was a busy businessman after all, and he never liked being in public with her.

However, Blake brought her out of the restaurant from another door.

Jessica had not visited this part of the aquarium earlier. Judging from the guidebook, in order to return to the entrance, they must go out from another way. She did not expect Blake to know how to take a shortcut after coming out of the restaurant.
