Chapter 55

Blake glanced around the house and asked, “Where’s Ma’am?”

Not even his son was at home.

Miss Susan said, “Ma’am brought little Winson out for some sun.”

Blake grunted in reply. When he walked past the dining area, he saw the red invitation cards on the table. He picked one up but did not open it. “Who sent this?”

Miss Susan saw the invitation card, she subtly rolled her eyes white at it. Throughout her entire life, she had never seen someone who was not yet the mistress act so arrogantly as if she was already the mistress.

As a housekeeper, it was inappropriate for her to be a busybody about her boss’s family matters, but she could not hold it back anymore. She said, “Miss Jackson came by earlier to send this. She said it’s an invitation for you and Ma’am to attend her mother’s birthday party.”

Blake frowned when he heard that, and his gaze looked slightly unhappy.

Miss Susan noticed the change in her boss’s expression, so she mustered enough courage and continued, “Sir, Miss Jackson told Ma’am that you gave her a bracelet as a present. That’s why Ma’am is a little unhappy because of it.”

What she really meant was that Jessica had gone out to ease the depressed feeling, and not just for some sunlight.

Kim wore an elbow-length sleeve to show off her bracelet despite the cold weather because she was worried that others could not see it.

Blake furrowed his brows even tighter. He had always been generous towards women and was never stingy with jewelry. He never really cared about others using his gifts to achieve their own intentions.

On second thought, Jessica’s plain and simple face flashed across his mind. She never wore any kind of jewelry, not even a pair of earrings or her wedding ring.

‘Was she acting up in the past few days and arguing with me because of the bracelet that I gave Kim?’

Blake originally wanted to go back to sleep, but he grabbed his car keys and headed out instead.

Miss Susan looked at him curiously and said, “Sir, are you eating at home today?”

Bang!

The door was slammed shut, and she did not get the answer that she sought. Miss Susan took her celery back to the kitchen with a startled expression as she grumbled, “Why can’t he pamper her a little more?”

After breakfast, Jessica brought Winson out.

The little guy had started to recognize roads, so she brought him to Aquatic Wonderland for a day trip.

Although Lady Cecilia always brought Winson outdoors, she only brought the little guy to some mini gatherings to show him off to her friends. Those wealthy ladies barely visited these kinds of public attractions.

The little guy was attracted by the colorful fishes as if they opened up a new world to him. His eyes chased the swimming fishes.

Jessica was also looking at the fishes, but her perspective was a little different from Winson’s.

No matter how big the aquarium was, it could never be as vast as the sea. All the fishes were confined in a limited space.

Maybe the fishes were not really free but who knew?

Just when she started to space out, Winson excitedly tapped her shoulder. “Mama, big fish!”

Jessica regained her senses and saw a huge shark swimming towards them. Little Winson was so terrified that he shut his eyes and hugged his mother’s neck.

She was also frightened by the size of the shark, and her heart raced. The moment she saw the shark, Blake’s face somehow flashed across her mind.

Just when she thought about her husband, her phone rang.

She took it out and saw Blake’s name on the caller ID.

Jessica did not want to answer, but Winson grabbed the phone from her. The little guy was smart. Despite being barely able to walk, he already knew how to answer the phone.

He dragged the green button across the screen and put the phone to his ear like how the adults did. Then, he mumbled and made strange noises on the phone.

When Blake heard his son’s excited mumbling, he immediately knew where he was, so he hung up the phone and drove to Aquatic Wonderland.
