Chapter 5

Author: A Glass of Eight Treasures Tea
“You have two options. One, you bow and apologize to Yulia Yates and agree to the partnership with the Yates, or two, I kill you now. Take your pick.”

Only after hearing so did the incredibly wary Kierra Chandler understand. Ah, so he was just someone the Yates Clan had sent over.

Kierra smoothed down his rumpled suit and stood up from the ground, retrieving a piece of tissue to wipe at his forehead.

“And if I say no? What then, you’ll kill me? The name, Kierra Chandler, is well-known throughout the entirety of the Yin Prefecture. What gave you the impression that you could kill me and walk off unharmed?”

Kierra Chandler belonged to the Yin Prefecture’s upper society, after all, with his Group worth billions on the market. How could he be afraid of a man who happens to know a little Kungfu?

Yakov Xayarath stared diffidently at him as he sat on the couch.

“Indeed, you’re not worth me killing you myself. How about we switch up your options then. One, you bow and apologize to Yulia Yates and agree to the partnership with the Yates, or two, I’ll have this Chandler Group of yours declare bankruptcy. You have one minute to think about it.”

“Hahaha, what kind of joke is this? With your capabilities?”

Kierra Chandler broke into hysterics, tears escaping the corners of his eyes.

“Wake up, you little sh*t. This isn’t a world where our fists speak for us. My company is worth tens of billions on the market, how can it just go bankrupt on command? You, however, you’ve angered me. I’ll make you pay!”

Yakov looked at Kierra unphased, like one would an unamusing fool, and whipped his phone out.

“If I don’t call you a minute later, bankrupt the Yin Prefecture’s Chandler Group. I don’t care what method you use, as long as it gets the job done.”

Hermes was an Archangel of the Dragon King Hall who oversaw all of the Dragon King Hall’s commercial trades, with over trillions worth of assets going through his hands every year. To forcefully bankrupt a small enterprise in the Yin Prefecture was like shooting fish in a barrel.

“Hmph. I’d like to see how long you can keep up this pretentious act of yours.” Kierra Chandler glared distastefully at Yakov as he plopped his butt down on his presidential chair. This disheveled youth was nothing more than an annoying clown who was all bark and no bite as far as he was concerned.

To force the Chandler Group into bankruptcy in under a minute. What absolute bullsh*t.

“I may don’t know who you are, you little sh*t, but I’ll give you two choices as well. One, you kneel before me to apologize and get the heck out of my office, or two, I’ll get someone to deal with you and wipe you off the face of the earth!”

Menace flared in Kierra’s eyes. “You have thirty seconds!”

“Thirty seconds.” Yakov began to count down.

Kierra Chandler snorted as time ticked by. Not too long later, he spoke, “Twenty seconds! You have twenty seconds left, you little sh*t. Stop playing around before you end up dead.”

Sitting on his presidential chair, Kierra Chandler took a big drag from a cigar he procured, before turning to look at his watch.

“You have ten seconds left.”

Yakov Xayarath was calm, completely brushing off the other’s attempts at mockery.

“Five seconds!” A frosty expression fell on Kierra Chandler.

Yakov Xayarath remained wordless, even turning to look at Kierra Chandler with pity in his eyes.

“Time’s up! Don’t blame me, boy, for you did this to yourself!” Rage plastered on every inch of Kierra’s expression as he approached the table to call for bodyguards to deal with this disrespectful b*stard.

Right then, his cell phone rang. Kierra’s expression shifted as he took a look at the caller ID.

The caller was the most important man in the Yin Prefecture, as well as the biggest partner of the Chandler Group.

It could be said that more than half of the Chandler Group’s receipts came from this very man.

Could said bigshot be on his way?

Accepting the call, he was met with an enraged roar, “Chandler! What bigshot did you offend? This is all your fault, don’t f*cking drag me into your problem. Our partnership ends now!”

Beep beep beep…

The caller hung up, leaving Kierra Chandler shocked beyond words. What did he mean? How could he offend the bigshot when the bigshot had yet to arrive?

As he mulled over the thought, his office telephone rang. Having an ominous premonition about it, he quickly picked up the phone.

“Oh no, Mr. Chandler! The company’s stocks have begun to shrink drastically! Someone is buying stocks in bulk from retail investors, and they’re about to surpass the number of stocks you own!”

Cold sweat immediately began to form on Kierra’s forehead. Before he could even reply, however, his secretary pushed open his office door.

Frantically, the secretary began to report. “Something ‘tremendous’ has occurred, Mr. Chandler. The three companies who were supposed to be in a partnership with us have suddenly decided to pull out and break the contract. They said they don’t want to be in a partnership with a company that was going to go bankrupt!”

Not too long after, rushed in the IT Department’s Leader who also began to speak.

“Boss! Our website’s being hacked and the cost of every item on the shelf has been changed to ten cents, causing consumers to buy in a frenzy. Our IT Department is unable to close down the server, estimating a total loss of over seven hundred million yuan!”

What…

Kierra Chandler staggered and fell on the floor. His entire body completely soaked in his own cold sweat and shivers ran up and down his spine.

“You. It’s you, isn’t it? You did all this?” Kierra, petrified, pointed a finger at Yakov Xayarath who sat serenely on the couch.

“As I said, you had one minute to think about the two options I gave you. This is your own fault.”

Kierra Chandler would never have thought, that this young man before him harbored such unfathomable power. Then it finally clicked, this young man before him was the ‘bigshot’ from the call he received last night!

As of that moment, Kierra Chandler found himself a moment away from breaking down. The young man before him was not someone he could ever take on, and the Chandlers would surely meet their demise should he continue to stand his ground.

To be able to do such things within a minute, one could only imagine the power this man held.

Looking at Yakov Xayarath again, he realized that his seemingly harmless smile was actually one that belonged to a man from the darkest depths of hell. He was a demon, or specifically, a demon who could easily ruin his life!

Call after call echoed within the office, but he no longer felt the need to pick them up, for he could already guess what they were about.

Staggering toward Yakov Xayarath, he dropped to his knees and began to prostrate.

“Please, let me go! I’ll do anything you want, so please! Please! Stop this madness!”

Yakov stretched and pulled Kierra up by his hair, his hand slapping Kierra’s cheek repeatedly.

This was an extreme degree of humiliation, yet Kierra did not dare make a move.

“You know, none of this would have happened if you did what you were told.”

With that, Yakov instructed for the attacks to stop over the phone under Kierra Chandler’s expectant gaze.

A minute later, the IT Department returned to report that though the website was functioning normally again, the few minutes it malfunctioned had not caused the company to lose a few hundred million yuan.

The mysterious group had stopped buying from retail investors as well, but the company’s valuation had decreased over two-fold. In such a short amount of time, the Chandler Group had lost a market price of seven hundred million yen.

Coupled with the loss from multiple partners pulling out, the Group faced a whopping total loss of two billion yuan!

The back of Kierra Chandler’s suit was soaked through as he stared in fear at the young man before him. That was one hell of a bigshot.

‘One sentence from him was all it took to shut down a company worth tens of billions on the market. Just who was this man?

‘How did the Yates Clan manage to enlist the help of someone of this caliber?

“And what were his ties to Yulia Yates?’

“Listen up, Chandler. This doesn’t end here. Tomorrow, you will personally seek out Yulia Yates following which you will kneel and apologize for your behavior today. After that, you will sign the contract with the Yates Clan for an exclusive partnership. Should you have any trick up your sleeve, I have no qualms with removing you and the rest of you Chandlers off the face of the earth.”

Kierra Chandler shivered and quickly answered, “Yes, yes. I understand. I’ll do it!”

Dragon King's Hall   Chapter 30

Rachel organized her thoughts and briefly explained to Yakov how the developers wanted to demolish the orphanage and build a holiday resort there. She also mentioned that the developers had far greater financial resources than her company. They were only slightly lesser than Zircon Enterprises, the second biggest corporation in Yin Prefecture. Rachel could never hope to stop them if they insisted on demolishing the orphanage. Just as Rachel finished speaking, she noticed that Yakov was drawing something on the ground. Her view was blocked by Yakov's back, and so she stepped around him. Her eyes opened wide when she saw what Yakov was drawing. While she was explaining about the problem earlier, Yakov had used a stone to draw a map of the area surrounding the orphanage onto the cement floor, including all major and minor transportation routes that led into the urban areas. Someone who lived at the same place for their entire lives might not even have been able to remember the layou

Matron Culver pointed at the people at the entrance of the orphanage and said, "Ms. Kyne has negotiated with them many times, but they have not given us a satisfactory answer. Once the holiday resort is complete, the government will demolish the orphanage. The government ordered the developers to relocate the orphanage, but do you know where they are building it? It's next to a chemical waste processing plant! Poisonous substances are pumped into the air and water every day. I'm old and I'll be gone in two years, but I feel sorry for the kids." Silent tears slid down the Matron's face as she looked at the children playing on the field. "Those heartless developers don't care about the children at all. They only have money in their eyes! How can they possibly relocate the kids next to a waste processing plant?" She sobbed. "I'll go talk to them." Yakov stood up. "It's no use, Yakov!" The Matron shook her head. "How do you know that there's no use if I don't try, Matron?" Yakov sm

Matron Culver, with her head full of silvery-white hair, also smiled when she saw Yakov. "That boy has been calling me on the phone for the past few years. He told me that he had been a waiter, a masseur, and even an electrician. He's been through a lot in the past few years." "Really?" Rachel watched as Yakov was surrounded by the children from the orphanage. He occasionally would carry a child in his arms and lift them high. As the children laughed happily, so did he. The noisy sound of engines interrupted the wholesome scene. Three Mercedes Benz G63s with consecutive plate numbers stopped at the entrance of the orphanage. Three people came out of each of those vehicles. There were males dressed in business suits and leather shoes, as well as females dressed in expensive clothes. They seemed to be in their thirties. The people started surveying the orphanage after they got out of their cars. One of the females who looked like a secretary took out some blueprints and pointed at

"I can't believe I'm so fortunate to duel with the Dragon King. Haha! Alright, I can tell you who hired me. Promise me that you won't lay a finger on my siblings." "You have no right to negotiate with me!" Yakov spoke coldly. "I'll give you three seconds. Tell me who hired you, and you may die." The man in the suit laughed bitterly. "The one who hired me is from Imperia and has the surname of Sullivan." After he said that, the man in the suit bit the poison capsule hidden behind his teeth. His eyes glazed over, and he fell face-down in front of Yakov. "Sullivan? From Imperia?" Yakov mumbled, ignoring the corpse in front of him. He quickly sent someone a text message. Yakov dragged the corpse out of the north-facing door of the living room into the backyard. He waved his arm toward the air. A black shadow appeared, carried the corpse, and vanished without saying a word. Yakov went back to the living room and made sure that there were no signs of fighting. After that, he walk

With both his legs broken, the man fell kneeling on the floor, and his arms hung limply next to him. The smug grin on his face had turned into fear. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Yakov noticed a faint tattoo on the back of the person's neck. He furrowed his brows. "A Nightfall assassin? Who sent you?" The man in the suit gulped hard when he heard Yakov mention 'Nightfall'. Not many people could mention that name so casually. "You know about Nightfall!" His eyes opened wide. "What about it?" Yakov retorted, "Tell me who sent you, and I'll allow you to die with dignity." "Ha, hahaha!" The man in the suit took a deep breath and laughed. "If you know about Nightfall, then you should also know that Nightfall assassins will not divulge their clients' identities, even when faced with the threat of death!" Yakov tilted his head and thought for two seconds. "Right, you have rules to follow. Looking at your tattoo, you must be one of the Thirteen Children of the Night. I've he

“With your capabilities?” Contempt shone in Jeanne Rivers’ eyes as she glossed over the eleven men around her. “Your ignorance will cost you your life, darling. I’ve already warned you, though daddy doesn’t mind spilling the blood of another today. Don’t worry though, daddy will make sure to acquaint you with the true definition of pain before you die!” The leader charged toward Jeanne with his dagger raised above his head, aiming to slash at her face. In the passenger seat, Yulia was gifted with a clear view of the scene outside the car through its visor. Yulia Yates shouted the instant the opponent raised his dagger to strike and closed her eyes instinctively, her heart pounding in her ears. She had never been in such a situation before. Even men would cower in fear when faced with daggers pointed at them, no? A loud “Crash!” had Yulia’s tightly shut eyes shooting open, only to find the very man who was previously running at Jeanne with a dagger in his hand lying on the bonn

Yakov Xayarath squinted, glowering at the people around him. It was obvious that Xylia Yates misunderstood. He had saved Xylia, only for her to misunderstand that he had intentions of defiling her. However, he was too lazy to explain himself. It was the same concept, ‘A person who knows they’re

It did not sit right in Yulia’s chest. She had not expected everyone to be riled up into a frenzy so quickly, for she had initially thought that there was a chance of negotiation. “Grandmother, could we not delay the matter of divorce? Yakov might not be great at everything, but he has changed dra

Dragon King's Hall   Chapter 16

Although it was around eleven at night when Yulia returned home, she saw the lights were still on and Yakov was watching television on the couch. “Welcome home.” There were no unnecessary exchanges; no asking how each other’s day was whatsoever. Yulia Yates changed into slippers and placed her
