Chapter 4

Autor: A Glass of Eight Treasures Tea
Yulia was absent from work the next day, for she was busy drawing up the partnership contract with the Kierra Group.

Yulia was bleary-eyed when she awoke in the morning, having burnt the midnight oil going through everything necessary for the partnership.

Instead of driving herself, she rode on Yakov’s scooter to the Kierra Group.

On the way there, Yulia began to close the distance between her and Yakov’s back.

He felt something soft come in contact from behind, followed by a slender face that subconsciously came to rest on his shoulders

Yulia must have fallen asleep as a result of staying up the entirety of last night, or she would never have initiated such a loving contact.

Au contraire, Yakov Xayarath found himself enjoying the contact. This was the closest the couple had been throughout these three years if his memory served him right.

Yulia opened her eyes upon arrival at the Kierra Group. Flushing wine-red as she realized that she had fallen asleep leaning on Yakov’s back.

Taking her documents, she alighted the vehicle and spruced up her appearance before turning to look at Yakov as if to ask, “I look like I’m going to discuss a partnership, right?”

Yakov Xayarath returned the look with a doting smile. “Go, I’ll be here when you’re done.”

Yulia rolled her eyes at Yakov. Her heart thumped as she turned to look at the looming building that was the great Kierra Tower.

This was a million-yuan company, her own company paled in comparison.

Though nervous, Yulia mustered up the courage to walk in.

Yakov, on the other hand, found refuge in a convenience store around the corner. Buying a box of Zhongnanhai Cigarettes, he lit one and took a smoke.

Half an hour later…

Yulia exited Kierra Tower in quick strides. Her hair was a mess and her face was pale as she dashed across the street.

Squinting, Yakov was shocked to find tear tracks on the corners of Yulia’s eyes.

“Yulia, what’s wrong?”

In return, Yulia threw all her documents at Yakov in an attempt to vent all her frustrations at him.

“Yakov Xayarath! This is all your fault! I wouldn’t have to go through all that humiliation had you not made me agree to this at all!

“I should never have believed you. This is hilarious! Why did I think I could when nobody else in the Yates Clan could settle this partnership?

“All you men are disgusting!”

With that last sentence, Yulia hailed a taxi and left.

The taxi had not made it too far before Yulia started to regret her words. How could she blame others when it was her own decision to attempt such a matter in the first place?

Thinking back to her behavior with Yakov moments ago, Yulia could not help but remind herself of a shrew. Turning her head around, she realized that Yakov was still rooted in the same spot as a fool.

“Whatever. It’s not like this is the first time he’s been scolded, what’s another one anyway.” With that thought in mind, Yulia turned back to the front and began to stew in her emotions.

Yakov’s expression began to solidify as he watched Yulia leave, waves of bloodlust oozing from him.

Taking his phone out, he dialed a number to the Atlantic Coast.

“Ghost. I want the security footage of the Kierra Groups’ President’s Office in the Yin Prefecture from half an hour ago. You have two minutes.”

Ghost was in charge of intelligence-gathering in the Dragon King Hall, with his best feat—hacking into the Country of Rica’s missile targeting system within two hours.

By entering a fake command, fifty guided missiles were fired toward an island on the Pacific Ocean. Just like that, an island slightly above ten kilometers in circumference was bombed away.

On the island lived a group of the Dragon King Hall’s enemies.

“Understood, my Lord.”

The click-clack of Ghost’s fingers sounded through the phone and a video was sent to Yakov’s cell phone before the two minutes were up.

Yakov Xayarath watched the scene before him.

Yulia was brought to Kierra Chandler’s, the President of the Kierra Group, office. Kierra Chandler was still polite in the beginning, but his entire demeanor shifted as Yulia answered his question about who she was.

His eyes squinted as he looked Yulia up and down, before finally sitting beside her.

“A partnership isn’t completely out of the question. Who knows, maybe I’ll agree to it if you spend a night with me.”

Yulia’s expression changed immediately, standing up to speak seriously, “Mr. Chandler, I came with goodwill to discuss a partnership with you. I would appreciate it if you minded your behavior.”

Kierra Chanler stood as well, placing a hand on Yulia’s shoulders. “Who do you think you are? What gave you the right to negotiate with me?”

Angry, Yulia pushed his hand away which only worked to completely infuriate Kierra Chandler.

“Take what you can get! I’m giving you a chance here, strip down and I’ll sign the papers. Otherwise, get out!”

Mortified, Yulia dashed out with barely contained tears that threatened to spill.

“How dare you treat my woman like this! You’re a dead man!”

Turning off his phone, Yakov marched with an inhospitable expression toward Kierra Tower.

At the same time on the top floor of the Tower sat Kierra Chandler with his legs crossed on his large chair, sipping on his premium Longjing tea from the West Lake.

He had received a call from some bigshot last night about how someone would come to discuss a partnership. He was to agree to it or face unfathomable consequences.

It was a bigshot that he could not offend, which explained his early arrival at his office this morning. What he hadn’t expected, was the first to come to him being Yulia Yates of the Yates Clan.

Naturally, he would never have pieced together that Yulia Yates was the person this bigshot sent over to discuss the partnership. After all, the Yates Clan were a small group of people, as if they would even appear on this bigshot’s radar.

Not to mention that Yulia Yates herself was quite the beauty. His perverted side showed itself incited himself to have his fun with her.

Dilly-dallying while he waited for this bigshot to appear, he heard a bang and his door was kicked open.

The loud bang jolted Kierra Chandler from his fantasy, only to see a young man in a black tank top and jean shorts standing at the door.

“Who are you? Get out!” Kierra Chandler shouted without thinking twice.

“Someone here for your life!”

Yakov sprinted forward and grabbed what was left of Kierra’s balding head before he had the time to react.

Then, the hand banged his head onto his coffee table, filling the room with the unrelenting sound of crashing.

Kierra felt his head was about to split open. Dizziness clouded his mind and blood trickled down his forehead to drip on the floor in soft pitter-platters and into his eyes.

Yakov suspended him mid-air, hoisting him up by the throat. An obese man over a hundred kilograms in weight, lifted into the air by Yakov Xayarath as if he were a little chicken, and thrown across the office onto the wall with the flick of Yakov’s hand.

Kierra felt as if his bones were about to give out as he struggled to stand. Lifting a hand to touch his forehead, the sight of blood had him boiling with rage.

Kierra Chandler was one of the Yin Prefecture’s big figures. He had never been treated as such.

“Do you want to die, you little sh*t?”

Yakov chuckled condescendingly, as he pressed a hand on the glass. Watching the scene before him, blood drained from Kierra’s face.

For the base of the stemware sunk and lodged itself into the sandalwood coffee table.

To melt wood with wine and glass, lodging something as fragile as the base of a cup into the wood, what was this mystical prowess?

He would have been squashed to death if he was in the place of the stemware.

With the twitch of his eyelids, Kierra Chandler gulped, petrified. “What legendary figure are you, sir? I don’t remember ever offending you.”

Yakov Xayarath replied aloofly, “It doesn’t matter who I am. Thing is, you’ve offended someone you never should have.”

Dragon King's Hall   Chapter 30

Rachel organized her thoughts and briefly explained to Yakov how the developers wanted to demolish the orphanage and build a holiday resort there. She also mentioned that the developers had far greater financial resources than her company. They were only slightly lesser than Zircon Enterprises, the second biggest corporation in Yin Prefecture. Rachel could never hope to stop them if they insisted on demolishing the orphanage. Just as Rachel finished speaking, she noticed that Yakov was drawing something on the ground. Her view was blocked by Yakov's back, and so she stepped around him. Her eyes opened wide when she saw what Yakov was drawing. While she was explaining about the problem earlier, Yakov had used a stone to draw a map of the area surrounding the orphanage onto the cement floor, including all major and minor transportation routes that led into the urban areas. Someone who lived at the same place for their entire lives might not even have been able to remember the layou

Matron Culver pointed at the people at the entrance of the orphanage and said, "Ms. Kyne has negotiated with them many times, but they have not given us a satisfactory answer. Once the holiday resort is complete, the government will demolish the orphanage. The government ordered the developers to relocate the orphanage, but do you know where they are building it? It's next to a chemical waste processing plant! Poisonous substances are pumped into the air and water every day. I'm old and I'll be gone in two years, but I feel sorry for the kids." Silent tears slid down the Matron's face as she looked at the children playing on the field. "Those heartless developers don't care about the children at all. They only have money in their eyes! How can they possibly relocate the kids next to a waste processing plant?" She sobbed. "I'll go talk to them." Yakov stood up. "It's no use, Yakov!" The Matron shook her head. "How do you know that there's no use if I don't try, Matron?" Yakov sm

Matron Culver, with her head full of silvery-white hair, also smiled when she saw Yakov. "That boy has been calling me on the phone for the past few years. He told me that he had been a waiter, a masseur, and even an electrician. He's been through a lot in the past few years." "Really?" Rachel watched as Yakov was surrounded by the children from the orphanage. He occasionally would carry a child in his arms and lift them high. As the children laughed happily, so did he. The noisy sound of engines interrupted the wholesome scene. Three Mercedes Benz G63s with consecutive plate numbers stopped at the entrance of the orphanage. Three people came out of each of those vehicles. There were males dressed in business suits and leather shoes, as well as females dressed in expensive clothes. They seemed to be in their thirties. The people started surveying the orphanage after they got out of their cars. One of the females who looked like a secretary took out some blueprints and pointed at

"I can't believe I'm so fortunate to duel with the Dragon King. Haha! Alright, I can tell you who hired me. Promise me that you won't lay a finger on my siblings." "You have no right to negotiate with me!" Yakov spoke coldly. "I'll give you three seconds. Tell me who hired you, and you may die." The man in the suit laughed bitterly. "The one who hired me is from Imperia and has the surname of Sullivan." After he said that, the man in the suit bit the poison capsule hidden behind his teeth. His eyes glazed over, and he fell face-down in front of Yakov. "Sullivan? From Imperia?" Yakov mumbled, ignoring the corpse in front of him. He quickly sent someone a text message. Yakov dragged the corpse out of the north-facing door of the living room into the backyard. He waved his arm toward the air. A black shadow appeared, carried the corpse, and vanished without saying a word. Yakov went back to the living room and made sure that there were no signs of fighting. After that, he walk

With both his legs broken, the man fell kneeling on the floor, and his arms hung limply next to him. The smug grin on his face had turned into fear. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Yakov noticed a faint tattoo on the back of the person's neck. He furrowed his brows. "A Nightfall assassin? Who sent you?" The man in the suit gulped hard when he heard Yakov mention 'Nightfall'. Not many people could mention that name so casually. "You know about Nightfall!" His eyes opened wide. "What about it?" Yakov retorted, "Tell me who sent you, and I'll allow you to die with dignity." "Ha, hahaha!" The man in the suit took a deep breath and laughed. "If you know about Nightfall, then you should also know that Nightfall assassins will not divulge their clients' identities, even when faced with the threat of death!" Yakov tilted his head and thought for two seconds. "Right, you have rules to follow. Looking at your tattoo, you must be one of the Thirteen Children of the Night. I've he

“With your capabilities?” Contempt shone in Jeanne Rivers’ eyes as she glossed over the eleven men around her. “Your ignorance will cost you your life, darling. I’ve already warned you, though daddy doesn’t mind spilling the blood of another today. Don’t worry though, daddy will make sure to acquaint you with the true definition of pain before you die!” The leader charged toward Jeanne with his dagger raised above his head, aiming to slash at her face. In the passenger seat, Yulia was gifted with a clear view of the scene outside the car through its visor. Yulia Yates shouted the instant the opponent raised his dagger to strike and closed her eyes instinctively, her heart pounding in her ears. She had never been in such a situation before. Even men would cower in fear when faced with daggers pointed at them, no? A loud “Crash!” had Yulia’s tightly shut eyes shooting open, only to find the very man who was previously running at Jeanne with a dagger in his hand lying on the bonn

“We can take my car.” Jeanne Rivers spoke up, clicking a button on her car keys which prompted a Volkswagen Jetta to beep twice. Seeing the disdainful gaze Yulia Yates shot at her, Jeanne Rivers smiled. “I take it this is the person you told me about, President Yates?” “Yeah.” Yulia Yates nodded.

It was no easy feat to detect the six that blended in with the flow of people in the CMD, but this was Yakov Xayarath we were talking about and nothing could escape his eyes. Yakov stood, ready to apprehend the six men for a thorough interrogation only to see Yulia walk out of Yates Tower with a l

Sitting on the leather couch in the office, Jeanne sipped on the black tea that Yulia’s secretary, Naomi Lewis, had brewed. Known to break down and get rid of tummy fat, this was a tea widely enjoyed by females. At the same time, Naomi had also done a background check of Jeanne Rivers and placed a

Sitting on the lawn, Rachel could not help but smile as well when she saw Yakov’s genuine smile. It was evident that this man was truly fond of the children here, unlike some of her suitors who put up a facade of liking kids in their pursuit of her. Yakov was in the midst of playing with the littl
